TIME TO CLEAN UP AFTER CRAZY PEOPLE [OPEN]
WHO: Jaime and RESPONSIBLE CITYZENS OF ALL SORTS
WHERE: Central Park
WHEN: 8/12-8/15, all times of day before arounnnd 11pm
WARNINGS: Sweaty people? OR ILLIDAN, IF YOU STRAY TO THE WRONG PARTS OF THE PARK...
SUMMARY: Volunteer clean-up help at Central Park speeds up recovery time and the logical chance to use the park for future needs
FORMAT: No (whatever your heart desires)
Well, it was a doosie, that's for sure. But then, the City was getting pretty used to that. That didn't make it any easier on the environment, though, and even ample helping hands were going to have their work cut out for them. When the all-clear had been given, they were out in force. Central Park was important - a prominent feature locals and foreigners alike knew and came to enjoy. Or...take up residence...Jaime still thought it was weird, that magic dude and his hoard of nerds. But some things were well out of his hands.
What was in his hands, though -- er, claws, at the time, in his suit -- was a large chunk of a downed tree. The walk paths needed clearing; the sooner that happened, the fewer treads from golf carts and small-time construction equipment would leave on the green, and the sooner the park started looking more like itself again. It was going to be at least three days of hard work, and Jaime was committed to at least two of them...Keeping busy kept him from thinking too hard, and there was a lot to think about.
Besides, it was nice to work one-on-one with the citizens now that people stopped calling him the Blue Guy. It only took, what? Two-and-a-half years to get them to break the habit?
Could be worse.
In any case...Heigh-ho, heigh-ho.

and, feeling like a jerk, he steers clear for a little bit. it's still hard to cope with the fact that it is and isn't the same guy, Ted. he's still him, but. not the him that had gone through so much with Jaime. the confidant, best friend, brother-from-another-mother, etc., etc.
and that makes him worry. if that's how it was with Ted, then with Abby the way she is, was that...?
oh wow no. this is exactly the thinking he's trying to avoid with all this heavy labor. so it's back to work, doubletime, and eventually, without thinking, they're on the same task, stacking tree fodder for the machinery to chew up and haul out.]
Oh-- [grunt, dropping the branches as he hovers above it.] Hey, Ted! I didn't know you were here, too. [lies lies lies...]
no subject
Must be my natural camouflage. [He gestures at the green skin.]
How are things going, Jaime?
no subject
he shrugs, coming to land.] Well...aside from the massive fixerupper we're standing in? Not bad, I'd think.
no subject
Too bad there's no one with plant control powers around to help out, right? I think Billy will be by later though. He's doing a magic thing right now.
Were you part of the group fighting here in the park?
no subject
magic...]
Uh, nah. No, I wasn't on that. There was stuff going down near my house I had to take care of while that happened. [he flexes his fingers and lets them extended to needlepoint for the next job.] I did see a cop helicopter get punched by a fist made of crows, though. Down by City Hall.
no subject
[A pause.] Did you just say a fist...made of crows?
no subject
Yeah. Yeah. Like...there were birds? [raising one arm to gesture.] And then they were a fist-- [his fingers clink and kind of end that attempt at making a fist.] And it beamed the copter and nearly sent it spinning out of control. It was...
...Well. It was crows punching a helicopter, so, there you go.
no subject
How...how did birds become a fist? [He can't seem to get the image to form in his mind.] And you caught the copter? [He's just guessing here.]
Why would someone even use birds to punch something. They're fragile...
no subject
And, yes, for the record. I did catch it, but it was already righting itself anyway. But you never know about those things, so...y'know. Staying off any freaky crow-fist side-effects.
no subject
Good thing you did catch it. I can't imagine a bird strike would be good for a helicopter let alone one in the shape of a giant fist.
no subject
heh. it's easy to forget what he was being a dodgy jerk about earlier...]
About as good as a bird strike is on anything, I guess. Not that I wanna test that on anything anytime soon. [he hops up into the air, a low hover at first, gesturing.]
I'm heading this way. Still some heavy stuff to lift into the trucks. Coming?
no subject
Lead the way. I'm happy to carry some heavy things.
no subject
as they go:] So--wait. You mean to say you've smacked into birds while you're flying around?
no subject
I have. Whole bunch of pigeons. Smacked clear into them. Poor things never knew what hit them and neither did I until they passed.

[Teddy shook his head.] Still feel a little bad about it even if it was just an accident.
