Seeing the Sights

WHO: Ginny Weasley and Jack Kelly
WHERE: Starting outside the Mac, and then around the City
WHEN: Backdated to 22 August, shortly after Jack's video post.
WARNINGS: Probably none
SUMMARY: They're going exploring.
FORMAT: However you like!

Ginny turned off the little phone device and hid it in the pocket of her jeans. Her wand went in the other pocket, and she pulled a lightweight jacket on over her t-shirt. After she'd made sure her hair wasn't doing anything drastic, she picked her way across the minefield of Fred and George's many explosive, hex-inducing products and headed out to the front of the MAC.

It was then that it occurred to her that she didn't actually know what Jack looked like, she'd just heard his voice. He could be any one of the people milling about around here. Hoping he would recognise her, she stayed around the door she'd just exited, leaning casually against the wall to wait for him.

Redheads, thank god, were always easy to spot in a crowd. Jack caught sight of Ginny as he slipped down the stairs of the MAC and grinned. Granted, he could only see her from the back, but from that view, she was definitely a looker. Excellent.

"Ginny, yeah?" he said as he pushed open the door. He gave a little wave and pushed his hands in his pockets. "Nice to meet you face-to-face. Jack Kelly at your service."

"Oh-- sure," he said, nodding, and pushed a hand through his hair so it was properly mussed up. He had to look good, after all, as Ginny as just as easy on the eyes in the front as she was from the back.

"Where we headed?" he asked casually. Without waiting for an answer he set off at a slow stroll, his hands shoved into his pockets. The center could mean anything from Times Square to the center of the borough-- but honestly, it didn't matter. All of this was still so new to Jack that just about anywhere would be fascinating to see. Just as long as they didn't head into the Lower East Side, he'd enjoy this trip.

"Thanks, by the way," he added, giving her a smile. "For takin' me out, I mean."

Jack felt an odd lurching in the pit of his stomach as Ginny mentioned Central Park. There was something distantly distressing about hearing of something familiar in this strange land-- because it wasn't New York, not really, not in his mind. It was similar to it, certainly, but it couldn't be New York. New York was cobblestone streets and poor immigrants; it was newsboys and 10 cent diners. It wasn't cars and superheros.

"The Park'd be good," he answered, and gave her a smile, hoping she hadn't seen him falter. "But, uh, yeah, it is different. Real different. Lots o'-- well, hell, the buildin's are a lot taller, and everythin' is mixed up." He hesitated for a moment, wondering if he wanted to subject himself to it, before adding, "If we go to the Lower East Side-- that's where I grew up. I could tell you personally all the differences."
