Oh, just freshening you up... [She takes it as cue to sit down across from him, still holding it out.] Nice microbreweries in the area. [She gives it a slight shake, not enough to ruin it.] And I could use the company.

[gladly taking it] Locally brewed? I'll try it.

I would have thought you weren't exactly hard up for company, around here. How did the show go?

You bet.

I'm not. I just prefer company that I enjoy. [OH SNAP.] You'd know, if you'd bothered to come see. Spoilsport.

[snort] I hate crowds. I'm sure the lack of my presence didn't affect your performance in any way.

[Sipping her own, talking just as she drinks it.] You broke my heart, Geddoe.

Mhm. [not believing that for a second] You'll heal.

How encouraging of you. [She feels like this conversation has happened before. Zee leans forward in a very unladylike (but very comfortable) fashion.] How've you been?

[somewhat oblivious] Nothing to report. Things have been quiet enough.

Yeah, I guess they have been. [She takes a dainty little sip of the beer.] Can I skip the thing where I scold you for only talking to me like, once a month? Can we just pretend it happened already and can we just relax a little?

I wasn't going to bring it up. [and he's already somewhat relaxed. Despite the perpetual stoicism, he's not very tense]

No, but I was. [And she knows that he knows that... she was.]

How is it, downstairs?

Not so bad, but I imagine it's because it's still a bit early. Still fairly crowded. I saw someone who looked a little like you.

[peering slightly] ...define 'a little like' me.

Tall, dark hair. Similar clothing. Eye patch. [She takes a swig and gazes up at him.] I wasn't making another pirate joke, promise.

[looking very confused, but not offended] ...eyepatch. Hm.

[he's totally mulling over the coincidence, since he doesn't really know about cosplay or that it could be fake]

Same eye. Same sort, too. Not that... yours is easily recognizable. Maybe you've gotten yourself some fans, Geddoe. [Great. Now he'll steer clear of the Network even more than he already does. Good job, Zee!]

I'm sure it's a coincidence. I don't make enough of a public presence to warrant...followers.

Everyone has fans, Geddoe. I mean, not everyone likes me, you know? People have their own taste.

Civilians don't. I tend to behave as a normal civilian as much as I can.

[dangerous missions to Mexico or Greenland notwithstanding]

They can, yeah. [A beat as she leans over the arm of the chair and makes a small gesture. Give or take a few seconds and a small case of beer is floating over and dropping itself off at the coffee table between them. She pulls a fresh one out for herself.] I can't tell if you're being modest or you're just very humble.

I'm being honest. [and eyeballing the magic beer. Of all things, that's the one trick he's most impressed by. And he'll need a fresh one soon himself]

And I'm saying that just because you can't perceive yourself as popular doesn't mean you aren't. Or, that someone isn't attached to you in some way or thinks you're cool or whatever. [She isn't entirely sure about all that alternate universe kind of stuff.]
