[ Ron looks up and is visibly surprised for a couple of reasons. Snape is there. One, he's being a little banter-y, which is another thing he can't quite get his mind around, no matter the revelations concerning the man's past. Two, if Snape is here, who's with Bellatrix Lestrange.

This question needs an answer! He takes his feet down from where he had them resting on the seat across from him, sitting up more fully. The remark about the television doesn't get his attention. ]

What about Lestrange, then?

She has retired for the evening. We drank a bit, said terrible things about Muggles, and parted company.

I don't think she'll do anything tonight. She was remarkably well behaved; I think she's tasted consequence for her actions here, and without her Lord to inspire her to... greatest heights... her claws aren't pulled, but they are surely sheathed for now.

Doesn't make me any less wary, really. Force of habit. [ After the war, there'd been the Aurors, and so many years of fighting a group of people doesn't leave you no matter how long you've been retired from it.

She wasn't monitored in the City, however. Here should not be too much different, save for the fact that people were being particularly annoying about minding their own bloody business. ]

Well enough, though.

It's a different situation. I assure you, if I thought she was going to do anything foolish or dangerous... I'd likely have to distance myself anyway.

[For a variety of reasons. Like, not making himself an accomplice according to Muggle law.]

But I would have sought the authorities if that were so.

[ So, by Snape's own words, at least, he wasn't the only one keeping an eye on Lestrange. Not that he was sure everybody else was running around ignoring her, but... He felt on-edge compared to the mood of the festivities. ]

Haven't seen that hag in two decades, practically, and... [ He would never forget what she did to Hermione, would never forget that she'd mocked Fred's death and threatened Ginny. ] Drives me batty letting her just walk around.

It's strange. She has definitely been changed by her time here. Learned to adapt. For someone as -- rigid in her thinking as Bellatrix LeStrange, that's quite a feat.

[He also thinks that may make her more dangerous in the long run.]

Oh, yeah. Let's pin a bloody medal on her. Next thing you know, she'll be kissing every muggle baby she can get her hands on.

[ All of the line-facing. This place frustrates the hell out of him. ]

I did not suggest that she is learning and becoming a better person. For the love of all that's good, have some sense. I mean she's merely becoming a more dangerous predator, if anything.

[She's no less a lunatic, she's just becoming a much more dangerous variety. One that doesn't read IMMEDIATELY as a lunatic by looking at her.]
