An Alchemist? He did not mention that particular skill in our conversations. He is quite talented, is he not?

Are you an Alchemist as well?

An alchemist? Eh, I'm not sure if he's ever dabbled in alchemy but he is a potions master.

I'm alright when I need to be. I passed my classes at any rate.

The skillsets share common concepts where I am from, and are together under Alchemy. But he is quite skilled to have achieved Potions Mastery.

Classes? You do not learn skills individually from a master?

No, Hogwarts has group classes.

Yeah, Hogwarts. Do you not have magic schools where you're from?

[identity profile] ofthedream.livejournal.com 2011-10-17 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
There are some, most notably in Dalaran or Silvermoon City. But even there, often the most sought-after teachings are taught in a master-apprentice fashion, rather than enormous grade-year classes.

Are there few magic users in your world?

[identity profile] ofthedream.livejournal.com 2011-10-19 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, there are many, of all types.

[identity profile] ofthedream.livejournal.com 2011-10-21 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
There are mages, of course, who work with the arcane energies and some elemental energies. There are druids who call upon the powers of Nature and the Dream. Shamans who speak with the elements and draw their power from them. Paladins draw their power from the Light, and priests draw their power from their deities. Then there are magics that call upon the spirits of ancestors and the Ancients. And then there are warlocks who contract with demons for their power, and necromancers who bind the unliving to their will, or those who use blood magic.

And that is not even going into recounting the ways magical creatures use their abilities, or how the demi-gods and Titans control their powers. There are too many forms and permutations of how magic is used in Azeroth to go into any true detail.

That's... a lot of magic.

Azeroth has always been rich in such energies. Creatures and peoples always adapt to use what is available.
