I don't dislike it. I'd just like to remind you I don't have the same enjoyments as a thirteen year old girl. Holding hands and skipping down the street doesn't really appeal.

We don't have to skip. [What exactly are you meaning to imply, Mister Bond?] Beside that, I didn't hold hands with boys until I was at least sixteen.

Were you afraid of cooties?

Home-schooled. Traveled the world with my father as his assistant. Didn't leave a lot of time for meeting boys.

Hm. What was it like? Travelling so young?

It's what I knew. I liked it because I was with him and he taught me magic. And we'd visit the people he fought with and other great magicians like Sargon the Sorcerer or Ibis the Invincible would regale me with tales. And, if I was lucky, Sargon's grandson would be around. [David.] We'd stop in Gotham -- where Shadowcrest is sometimes located -- and I'd get to see Bruce. All the while I was honing my skills. In my late teens, we settled to San Francisco. Didn't tour as much.

Must have been interesting.

It was. I don't think I fully appreciated it or growing up in Shadowcrest until I was older, though. Eventually, my father was cursed and it led me to trying to find him and then joining the Justice League.

Children rarely do appreciate what they have.

I appreciated what I had. My father taught me that. I meant the... the magic of it all. Literally and figuratively. For the longest time I thought it was normal, I didn't realize how different I was from other little girls. Other seven year olds weren't given stuffed rabbits by sword-swallowers or had their fortunes read by women several centuries old. They weren't on television.

I suppose appreciate wasn't the right word for it. More so, take advantage of.

I understand. I just... didn't want you to think I was one of those little rich brats who didn't get how good I had it.
