Josie's on a vacation far away...
WHO:
girlyboywonder,
undeadsidekick
WHERE: Roof of the Hershey store in Times Square.
WHEN: Tuesday night. 9-ish.
WARNINGS: swearwords and bat-insanity
SUMMARY: Jason and Carrie meet to catch up and talk winged creatures of the night.
FORMAT: Prose to start off, and then whatever.
Generally speaking, Jason didn't go for that fashionably late bullshit. There was nothing fashionable about keeping people looking for you. That was just manufactured, self-important nonsense and if people really gave a damn to watch for you, they'd do it whether you were late or not. With this deep philosophy on life's social complexities in mind, he arrive promptly at nine-oh-five, lighting a cigarette as he recovered from his landing, and looking for the fluff of red hair in the shadows.
"Sorry, kid. Didn't mean to keep you waiting." And honestly, he didn't. Situations beyond control and all that. Some dealers just needed to learn when the hell to stay down, and that if the Red Hood said he was about to shoot them in the kneecaps, he damn well meant it.

No sweat. [ A smile's a little beyond her reach just now. Too bad. ] Late happens.
no subject
[There's an awkward moment where he notices they're on top of a candy shop and there's a neon chocolate bar poorly illuminating everything. It's pretty ridiculous given the situation, so he takes a drag to try and stow himself and ignore it. Resist the urge to comment.]
So talking.
no subject
She glances away, out over the none-too-dark city. Softly: ] Yeah, that. Your lead, I figure.
no subject
Going against Bruce, now that he's here, will cause a stir and you need to be ready for that. He's used to people following his lead and actually having an opinion tends to throw him for a loop.
no subject
That it's a warning instead is a quiet little reminder of why she'd come to like him in the first place. ]
Noticed that one, actually. [ a breath out. ] But it's fine. Not like I didn't see it coming.
no subject
Guess not. He's a little predictable in that way. How are the others taking it? I assume they've all got something to say about it.
no subject
Tim's okay. Said I could still come over, even if we're not on the same side. [ That one gets a frown. Pretty much definitely not taking him up on the offer, it just seems sort of stupid that there's sides at all if he can pretend they're gone for a social visit. ] Dick's probably about swimming in guilt. I don't figure Damian picked up on much, 'cept that the name's all his again.
no subject
[He's thoughtful again for a minute.] I never got why they were so intent on having sides. They want crime gone, I want crime gone. We have different methods, but thinking about it here, everything's different anyway. [Jason sighs in a way that's less dejected than it is frustrated, and tosses the remains of his cigarette onto the ground.]
It's all pretty fucked up, if you ask me.
no subject
It even gets a thin smile. ]
...Yeah. Figure that's a pretty good word for it.
no subject
I'm still trying to make sense of everything here myself. Our main difference is that I'm willing to do what they won't because they see it as dirty, or some uncrossable line in the proverbial sand. I don't. But at the same time, here none of that matters. They're right, right now. We kill them-- The big ones like the clown. The ones that are our problem to start-- They just come back, mad as hell and with something to prove. The better thing is to lock them up or fuck them up to the point that they can't function.
Which Tim, and Dick, and whatever other bleeding hearts they've dragged into this will probably say is cruel and we'd be back to that proverbial line. If we're talking about normal people, normal criminals, I'd be inclined to agree. But we're not. The Joker's an animal and everyone is better off with him out of the picture in any way possible.
[The words are mostly spat out, stream of consciousness style. It's everything Jason's been thinking and debating in his head since he found out imPort's can't really die. That little tidbit takes a while to adjust around.]
no subject
Finally, with a nod: ] Joker's always the exception. And I'm thinking even they'd have to agree about getting vicious. It's not death, dunno what more they could want.
[ Except she can take a few guesses. Her Batman had never had a problem with ruining someone badly enough to take them out of the game. ]
no subject
I want him gone. I don't care about them, or what I have to do to make it happen.
no subject
Well, you got help if you want it. Figure I could think of a few with similar takes on it willing to lend some powers, too.
no subject
I don't play well with others. You probably know that.
no subject
[ Because he had before-- she knows it's possible. She glances over, sidelong. ]
I know it's a-- point of pride to do it alone, or whatever you wanna call it, but the chances of taking him down and keeping him down only go up, the more help you got.
no subject
[He goes quiet again, fidgeting a little with the buckle on his jacket.]
If we do this, you don't question me in the field. I don't care if you come back, I won't be him. I won't have that psychopath kill somebody on my watch. Clear?
no subject
Crystal. Your word's law.
no subject
That doesn't mean I don't want your input planning, though. You've been here longer, know the city, and the layout. You also know how he works, I'm guessing.
no subject
I don't figure anyone hows how he works. Not even Ba-- Bruce. But I got one advantage, anyway. Unless he's gone back and looked over the Network, this version doesn't know I'm around.
no subject
But you're right. He doesn't know about you. Let's keep it that way.
no subject
[ Because last time he caught onto her was not an entirely pleasant experience. ...But now that she's not Robin, maybe it wouldn't matter as much? She considers the matter a few seconds, watching nothing in particular, before she tosses another glance over. ]
You got somewhere to stay yet?
[ Because the Joker's... a little more longterm than some of the more immediate issues she's been working on. ]
no subject
Free housing. I figure it's bugged, but I'm kind of used to being watched.
no subject
[ Man, being in a position of having more resources than Jason is... strange. ]
no subject
It's alright until I get on my feet. [Unless she's got something better.]
no subject
I got a-- well, place to put my stuff. Dunno if I'd call it any kind of home. But there's room.
no subject
[Except that would be super cool.]
no subject
Not like I'd be there real often, anyway.
no subject
Okay.
no subject
[address to a crappy apartment!]. Locks are a little advanced, [ the first thing she'd changed, even before she'd officially moved in ] so I'll text you the codes.
no subject
[Welp. This is awkward.]
I should go. Pack and whatever.
