SUMMARY: Erik has informed Nepeta that she can have a cat in her apartment and she demands to know where to get one. Tali has informed Nepeta that she doesn't have to hunt puffytailed ratbeasts in Central Park for food because she can go to a gross-kree-stor. And so they come together and do so.

[ Nepeta was waiting alongside Erik in the lobby of the apartments, shifting her weight from one foot to the other in her eager excitement. She wasn't so sure about the travels to the grocery store — she liked when she got to go hunting, and was certainly not about to give it up just because you could get dead food somewhere already. She decided not to knock it until she'd tried it, however, and tried not to be as disappointed — since after all, it would be a new adventure regardless.

Most of Nepeta's excitement stemmed from Erik's words about finding her a pet cat to have for her very own. That was her most exciting prospect, and she was beginning to pace back and forth in the lobby for something to do with all of her energy. ]

[Tali would point out, if asked about the thrill of the hunt, that Nepeta could always go hunting for things and either not kill them or simply not eat them.]

[She arrived down in the lobby a few moments after she finished her talk with Nepeta, surprised to see her in the company of a man who looked considerably older than her. Well, no reason to jump to conclusions.]

Nepeta?

[Perhaps she could explain her general plan to Tali.]

I have some things I need to pick up as well.

[Erik had pulled a purple trench coat on over his turtleneck and slacks, and would have likely insisted that Nepeta get herself a coat as well if he had needed to. He gave a nod in greeting when Tali arrived.]

You must be Tali.

[ Nepeta was eagerly excited when Tali arrived, bounding over to her in a similar fashion as she had when she'd seen Erik arrive. She latched herself to Tali for a moment, squeezing excitedly before she stepped back and surveyed her collection of human companions for the day. ]

Tali, this is Erik, the human that is like a human version of my moirail and Erik, this is Tali she is an alien!

[Tali allowed the latching for a moment and brought a hand down to ruffle the hair around her horns. For the record, Tali is also sporting a purple coat.]

[She didn't look like she was starving, at least.]

Hello, Erik -- ah, yes, I'm an alien. Are we ... all ready to go?

[The last thing they needed was to have to come back again.]

[She shifted closer to Nepeta more out of habit than anything else; the girl was familiar, and she still felt the desire to protect her.]

Ah, I am starting to get used to the idea that there are plenty of aliens here. It was surprising at first.

[Erik nodded in confirmation. He looked down at Nepeta to ensure that she was ready to go as well, though he doubted she would say no given how eager she had seemed to get going.]

[ Nepeta is incredibly eager, and she's the first one to rush her way to the door and push them open. She's out on the sidewalk in mere seconds, though without a knowledge of which direction she's to be heading first — so she stops there and whirls around, waiting for Erik and Tali with eyes wide and eager. ]

Where are we going first? [ She asks, tilting her head in both their direction. ]

[She considered that.]

I don't think that the grocery store would be very happy with us bringing an animal into the store, so I think we should head there first. We'll try to find something that's either frozen or in a can for you so that we can bring them to your house without them spoiling.

[There was another pause; she looked to Erik to confirm he thought that was a good idea.]

[Erik gave another nod in agreement. He looked just faintly amused by Nepeta's enthusiasm as he followed after the young troll.]

I am not sure if the grocery store will have food similar to your planet's, but I think you will find something you enjoy more than squirrel.

[ Nepeta was looking between both of her much taller friends and considering the things they were telling her. She was weighing both of the options quite obviously, considering which she really preferred. Then she smiled. ]

Yes, we will go to the gro—the food store first, and then we will get the kittycat? [ She seemed absolutely thrilled about this still, and she was trying not to get too far ahead of her friends as she bounded along the sidewalk. ]

Yes, that seems like the best plan.

[That way, Nepeta would still be able to actually focus on choosing food instead of fiddling with the cat as well.]

We'll buy a variety of things so you can see what you like, then next week you can go and get the things you enjoyed.

[They'll get into nutrition later, she thinks.]

[Erik seems to be having a similar series of thoughts on the matter as Tali.]

We can show you where to buy things like clothing and toys on another day, if you would like.

[Yes, no need to overwhelm her today.]

That's a good idea. Clothes are one of the best things about this place for me.

[ Nepeta is looking between them as they talk, before she's puffing up her cheeks and crossing her arms over her chest. They should be hurrying up with her, she thinks, and she says as much. ]

Yes, I will get clothes, but I will get them later because we have to get food things and a kitty cat!! [ She thought she ought to remind them, after all, before she ran bounding ahead again without waiting for her chaperons. ]

[Erik chuckles and follows after Nepeta, ensuring that she did not get too far ahead of them, especially since she did not know the directions.]

Of course, Nepeta.

[Tali picks up her pace a little, and after some thought -- releases a combat drone so that it can move ahead and make sure that Nepeta doesn't do anything silly.]

[It takes a few seconds of concentration and it probably looks awkward as hell when it spontaneously appears, but -- well. It's for Nepeta's safety.]

It's not too far.

[ Nepeta is staring with wide yellow eyes when that drone appears, and she stops abruptly in her tracks. She jumps down onto her hands and knees and hisses for a very brief moment, looking as suspiciously at it as possible before very slowly coming up to stand once more.

Staring.

So unsure. ]

What!! What is that, what is that??

[ Erik's eyebrows raise a bit as he watches the drone appear, though it seems to only come as a mild surprise to him-- he has seen stranger things since arriving here. Nepeta's reaction only makes him have to suppress a chuckle, though he is not able to hide the slight quirk of his lips. ]

Interesting.

[Tali manages a sideways smile.]

That's my drone. Since coming here, I haven't needed my omni-tool to generate it -- and it's closely connected to me. It's just there to watch out for you, so don't be scared of it.

[ Nepeta's eyes are still quite wide as she's hopping back up to her feet, though she's still staring at the drone with shock in her eyes. Then she's turning to face Erik and Tali a second time, before she's chasing the drone with anticipation and moving as if she intends to catch it. ]

What is it for? Is there more things?

[ Erik is still curious about the nature of the drone, though at the moment he just watches with amusement as Nepeta looks so much like a cat chasing a laser pointer. ]

[If Nepeta takes a leap at the drone, it will pull itself out of the way.]

For the most part, it's for aiding me in battle. That hasn't come up so much in this place, though.

[Not so far.]

Oh! It's a beast that can hunt for you?

[ She's made this assumption easily and she's chuckling, though she stops circling it for a moment to hurry up with their adventure. ]

Give it time. This place seems to have its moments of volatility.

[ He hasn't had to fight either, but he has done his research into recent events. ]

That seems to be what the network history would suggest, yes.

[She has also -- mostly into peoples' conversations on the network, but also into local papers and the like.]

[ Nepeta isn't really listening to them unfortunately, as she has Count Magnus Wigglewhiskers Francis Fatbeast on the brain. She's skipping ahead still, until she's a good twenty or thirty feet away -- waiting for them both with wide eyes. ]
