[INCOMPLETE]
WHO: Jon & Laurie
WHERE: Laurie & Tank's apartment
WHEN: Monday afternoon
WARNINGS: Naked blue man
SUMMARY: Laurie's 16, Jon comes to discuss things, etc etc
FORMAT: Whatev
Laurie smiled at her communicator before putting it down next to her. She was sitting on the couch in her costume -- since nothing in the closet fit and this is what she was wearing when she got here -- still not sure of what was going on. It was nice to know a familiar face was around though, however little they knew about each other. Plus, Jon was interesting. She'd been curious since the moment she saw him and now was her chance to get to know the guy better. And maybe get some questions answered, of course.
She grabbed a cigarette off the coffee table and lit it while waiting.

oh god she knew him when he still wore pants didn't she
Part of him wanted to see Laurie as she was. Of course he remembered it. Then again, those memories came from a time when he was still blatantly conforming to the will of others and his "humanity" was still very visibly present. Both of those factors however, had now practically deteriorated into nothingness.
He teleported outside of her room, deciding that frightening her probably wasn't the best idea at the moment. For once, Jonathan Osterman thought about action and reaction. Then, he did something he hadn't done in years:
He knocked on the door.
hahahahaha yes. yes. yes she did. and AAAW KNOCKING ON THE DOOR SFNBKSF
The man in front of her was... well blue, yeah, she knew that already. But she hadn't gotten a really good chance to look at him until now. Dr. Manhattan looked like a god. He was absolutely perfect.
Oh, and. Not wearing any clothes. Don't. Look. she reminded herself.
Laurie didn't comment on it however, only smiled brightly, and let him in.
"You got here fast."
HE TRYIN' 2 B SUBTLE. TRYIN. LETZ SEE HOW LONG DIS LASTS
He was of course, mentally probing her. Nothing too extreme, only surface thoughts; the present, the immediate past, but nothing really further than that. He knew the rest. What was truly astounding was that she didn't just sound younger, she looked younger too. What he felt was unrecognizable. Nostalgia perhaps? Unlikely. He was incapable of such an emotion.
"I can't quite understand how this happened," he began, contemplatively peering down at Laurie. "How are you feeling?"
;D
She laughed. "But anyway, how 'bout you?" Laurie honestly wasn't that concerned with this time-travel business. Everyone else seemed to be frustrated -- but not really in a mass panic about it. Besides, it was nice to get away from her mom for a while.
"Oh, you want some coffee or something? Sorry, it's rude of me not to ask."
o bb
"The last time we spoke, you were. And no, I don't need coffee, thank you." He added that last bit in for formality's sake. Conforming. He hated the idea, even for such minute phrases. But for Laurie, he was willing to make some effort.
Now. Where were they going to start?
"Do you know the extent of my abilities, Laurie?"
no subject
Shaking her head, she looked Jon in the eye. "No idea. You going to demonstrate for me?"
no subject
"I could, but the probability of the experience putting you in a permanent catatonic state is extremely high, and I'm not willing to risk that."
He paused, his empty gaze continuing to rest on her.
"I have no idea how long this will last. Typically, I would be able to tell you, but an overabundance of tachyons within the atmosphere of this dimension prevents me from doing so."
Another pause.
"A lot has happened and I am willing to share any, if not all of it with you. However, first... there is something I want you to do for me." He went silent again, as he allowed himself to undergo a mental change of state. The fluidity of his memories and intelligence temporarily stopped. Jonathan allowed a single memory to surface to his thoughts for the time being:
The watch. The last thing he remembered before his first life ended.
"I want you to tell me what I'm thinking."
no subject
And now he wanted her to play guessing games. She raised an eyebrow. "A... wristwatch?" Laurie really didn't get how this was helping, none of her questions had been answered, and --
"Um. Wait."
She was almost positive he was thinking about a watch.
"How'd you do that to me?"
THIS IS ALL SO VERY TRAGIC
"I didn't. When you arrived here, you gained that ability. How about now?"
The first A-Bomb. Hiroshima.
Okay so Jon forgot about subtlety but it could have been worse.
OW MY BRAIN, THANKS JON
Slowly sitting back down, she bit her lower lip.
"Ugh. So what, now I can read people's minds?"
just this nice lil watch then KABOOOOOOOOOOOM
"I apologize."
Though, there were metaphorically worse memories he could have thought of.
"Yes, you can. Initially you were unable to control the ability, and as a result, you were attaining empathic abilities as well. Perhaps instinctively, you now have it under control, though that is somewhat doubtful."
YEAH THANKS >[
Laurie needed some time to think about this. Telepathy? I mean, it was kinda cool, but... she didn't want to go off seeing cities get destroyed halfway through dinner or something.
"What's doubtful about having it under control, huh?" She was beginning to get the hint that this guy was fucking weird.
THIS GUY WAS FUCKING WEIRD. DYING.
He realized how much different he must have seemed to her. Even in the short while they knew each other, he'd still been somewhat more empathetic.
Jonathan was going to have to lower the bar just a bit.
"Is there anything specific you want to know about yourself, Laurie?"
HAHAHA :D
Well that was an interesting question. She wasn't really sure how to go about answering it -- she didn't know what precisely to ask.
"Umm. Well. How long have I been here? Like, my future self I mean. Who are my friends, who do I hang out with on a regular basis, that sort of thing."
no subject
"You have a good social reputation, higher than the average positive feedback from personal relations. Other residents find you quite reliable and conscientious. You seem to have the closest relationship with "Tank Girl." Though prior to that, you were also exceedingly familiar with Daniel Dreiberg and seemed to insinuate that you were more sympathetic with Rorschach and his typically profound choice in actions."
Jonathan would have mentioned himself as well, but he was irrelevant.
LMFAOFNJASF this is a fail tag btw sorry bb
Laurie smiled. "Guess I'm not doing too bad for myself, huh? So what are you, like the Seer of All Things or something? Fortune Teller Extraordinare?"
I'M SO TEMPTED TO PLAY THE GUESS HUZ UR DAD CARD BUT HE WOULDNT BE DAT MEAN
"I'm capable of seeing past the present, yes. Ordinarily, I would be able to control both time and space, and my actual sense of the past, present, and future would be nil. Though, that doesn't seem to be the case here."
