WHERE: Whiskey's place, like usual
WHEN: Last night 8D
WARNINGS: will update if necessary? but none to start with, except for DATING DRAMAZ
SUMMARY: Buffy comes over to talk to Peter after her..... week long disappearance.
FORMAT: spaaaam
[ Though he'd been trying to distract himself while he waited for Buffy to show up, it seemed to be a hopeless endeavor. Staring into the depths of his cup of coffee, Peter had tried reading the paper, watching a movie; hell, he'd even tried pacing endlessly. But nothing seemed to cut back the hefty weight of concern.
He was bad at this, he knew he was. The last two women he'd dated made him wary of his every action and reaction, not to mention his most recent transgressions with Adam. But when he got right down to it, Peter knew he just wasn't sure how to go about dealing with this. He was hardy capable of telling his mother when he got upset with her, how was he supposed to tell Buffy?
It would have been easy to come up with a million and a half excuses, and he could, but it all came back to the same fact where he simply didn't want to lose her. Not in a number of different ways. But that didn't mean it hadn't stung, in a way. Mostly, he'd just been trying not to think about it at all.
But with the knock on the door, Peter knew not thinking about it wasn't going to be an option much longer. Setting down his coffee as he meandered his way out of the kitchen, Peter was pulling open the door a second later, free hand wrapped around himself. ]

Buffy is almost completely sober now, her head feeling like a ton of bricks even after one of Zee's famous remedies. It seemed she would be dealing with this hangover the old-fashioned way, and she knew she deserved it to boot. As much as she wanted to sleep it off and forget everything, she had to deal with this first, and smooth things over; terrified of losing Peter so soon into their relationship.
Angel's words still forged in her mind didn't help any, and she looked up at Peter now, waiting for him to say something.]

Come on in, can I get you anything?

Yeah, sure. C'mon. [ Closing the door behind her, Peter makes his way back to the kitchen, just.. sort of expecting Buffy to follow him, where he's opening the fridge and pulling out a bottle of water. Aww yeah, he's fully stocked. ]

[ He knew that he should be talking about... things. But it was hard to just jump right into it, he at least needed some kind of tipping point. ]

So fine, he'll try this whole talking thing.... ]
Think I care more that you didn't call then anything else.

Zatanna kind of had this great idea to leaveourphonesatherplace. I. It sounded like a great idea when I thought we were only going to be gone like, a day...
[she bit her lip, shaking a little from the hangover and under the full brunt of her own emotion.] I'm sorry. There's really, no excuse. And I'm sorry.
no subject
Not like I want you to check in or anything, I don't.. want to be one of those boyfriends. The one who needs to call you all the time. [ Especially since he already knew he was clingy to begin with. ] Didn't even know if you'd been ported out or not, though.
[ and realizing that he'd pressed the point enough, he sighs. ] But it's okay. Really. And you're back now.
no subject
I don't mind, checking in. This was a purely, one-time... thing.
And I'm back now. [she echoed, glancing back across the table]
no subject
And without your fan club. Did they ever find their shirts?
no subject
My guess is they went back down under. Shirtlessness notwithstanding.
no subject
Guess if you're gonna be shirtless down under would be the place to be.
no subject
They were Zatanna's fans anyway. I may as well have been invisible.
no subject
I'm not sure you could be invisible if you tried.
no subject
You're really not mad?
no subject
I don't know, not really. Think I was upset for a little while. But I get that things aren't exactly easy right now.
no subject
[She doesn't want it to sound like an excuse, but she still wants Peter to understand, imploring him with her eyes.]
no subject
Buffy, you deserved a break even before all this. It's not like I didn't think you had some kind of reason for going, but I don't really think a week long binge is gonna help all that much at this point. [ He pauses for a moment. ] Not that I don't think you figured that one out already.
no subject
[He looks up to lock eyes with Peter, knowing she might burst into tears at any minute but she's really not sure she cares.]
Ever since Mom died, everything fell to me. Giles stopped... with his watching so everyone looked to me for creepy apocalypse stuff too. And there was Dawn...
I just wanted a break for like, two seconds that meant Dawn wasn't not here and Willow wasn't arrived here, and Tara wasn't cleaning up my mess even though I'm supposed to-- [She was afraid they were coming, but then they suddenly weren't and she took a breath.] I'm supposed to take care of them.
no subject
It shouldn't all have to fall on you in the first place and i'm sorry it does. And I wish I could help more and you know i'm here whenever you need me. For any of it. I could even talk to Willow if you wanted, but- [ he sighs. ]
We don't usually get to take breaks, not when we're supposed to be carrying the.. weight of world, not to mention everything else. So I get it. You have every right to try to get in all the things you never get to have.
no subject
[She smiled softly, looking up at him with a watery gaze.]
I know you're here. That's why I never should've left.
no subject
I'm not trying to keep you here because of me, Buffy. It's Los Vegas, I can see the appeal. And you thought it was gonna help, can't argue with that.

I've never had much of a chance to be scared of anything. I mean, me Slayer. Bumps in the night are my specialty. I just bump back. But I can't... stake words like little, word-shaped vampires.
As much as I wish I could.
no subject
Giving her a bit of he nudge, he leaned in, kissing her nose. ] Hey, maybe if you pretended she was a vampire while you were talking to her, it'd make it easier. Like what they tell you when you give a presentation in front of the class. But different.
no subject
Oh and there's the thing where I usually don't talk to vampires about my feelings. [Okay so that was just a bald-faced lie. But the ones she planned on killing, anyway...]
no subject
But that wasn't- [ Giving his head a shake to brush aside his previous words, he sighs. ] Not like i'm any better at the talking thing. And it's not any easier when it's someone you're close to, I get it.
[ Looking back up at her, he settled a palm against her cheek, trying to go back to being serious. ] You don't have to be the brave to just talk to her. And you don't have to say all the right things, you already know it's not gonna fix itself right away. Actually talking's a step in the right direction though, and that's all you can do.
