Just take my hand, hold it tight [incomplete]

WHO: Baby!Knives, Vash, Islington
WHERE: Knives's place of residence
WHEN: March 2, shortly after Knives's post
WARNINGS: Unbearable cuteness
SUMMARY: Knives is all alone in his scary underground base, and Vash and Islington come to get him.
FORMAT: Quickparathinger

He didn't understand how he got here.

One minute he'd been on the SEEDS ship with Vash and Rem, and the next, he was somewhere else entirely, surrounding by equipment of some kind and strange chemicals, some of which he could identify but mostly not. Besides that, it was cold and dark, and there was some kind of thing in his hand that he'd never seen before - a communicator of some sort. He'd turned it on, hoping to find Vash and Rem, but instead he'd gotten a jumble of voices and answers from people he'd never met and- and Vash was old, apparently, and so was he- or another himhad been, it was just a lot to take in.

And now there were people coming to get him, which was good he supposed. Still, he couldn't help still feeling a little miserable - not as much as he had, but still upset.

Thus, dubious and more than a little uncertain, Knives curled up on the couch to wait. He was a little surprised when the kitten joined him and crawled onto his lap. It made him feel a bit better, though, so he just sat there for a while, petting the creature whose name he couldn't remember.

Vash sped there as fast as his legs could take him, pausing only to buy a bottle of water at a nearby convenience store. He fairly screeched to a halt at the entrance. He knocked at the door, wondering all the while if Knives would be okay.

later than a late thing

Islington walked up, panting from having run half the way from the bus stop. Public transportation was not a graceful way for one to travel when one was in a hurry. It recognized the building, though not the man standing outside it, and assuming it was Vash, walked up behind him, tapping him on the shoulder.

lame tag is lame

Vash turned around to meet the angel face to face. "Are you that Islington guy who called me?" he asked, with a friendly, puzzled expression.

late tag is late (again)

Islington made a face. "I am the Angel Islington, and I prefer 'being', really, but if you must." Was it so much to ask that humans respect its gender neutrality? Ugh, really. It was positively rude the way they went about calling it he or she or something similarly dreadful. Did they not realize it transcended such simple categories?

Does Islington seriously think Vash is human?

"Oh, geez, sorry. Didn't mean to offend you." Vash backed off quickly. "Anyway, we've got other things to worry about." As if on cue, his communicator beeped, signalling the arrival of Knives' message. He consulted it briefly, and then opened the door.

That was completely me just forgetting. Sorry. No, it knows that he isn't.

Islington waved a hand. "It hardly matters anymore. One becomes accustomed to such things. And as you say we have more important things to worry about," it said. What were they going to do with Knives while he was a child? They had not discussed it. He would return to himself, of course. It would happen. It had to happen. Islington did not fancy their chances against the City's always overactive criminal element if things continued the way they were. "Will you be able to take care of him until he returns to normal?"
