Who:
natureinblood and
fairyarcher
When: 18 October. Ridiculous o'clock.
Where: Denny's. This is good parenting at work here, guys.
Summary: Father and daughter talk about inconsequential things.
Warnings: Card games and magic.

The advantages of homeschooling are that in the middle of the week, sitting in a restaurant overnight is perfectly acceptable behavior. Especially if it involves milkshakes and duel monsters.
They make an odd pair considering Halloween is still two weeks away, but the place is empty enough at this hour that no one is giving them the usual second looks. Besides the two glasses on the table, there seem to be an inordinate number of cards. Some of them appear to have monsters on them.
Hm.
"So, tell me about meeting the Dark Sage," Remus says, considering the card of the same name as it lays on the table.

With the tip of the straw in her mouth, her first real response is the shrug of one shoulder, then returning plastic to its cup. She gives the milkshake an idle stir. "Well, how much have I told you already, about the world of Duel Monster Spirits?"
no subject
"Only a few details," he answers, thinking.
He wasn't one for prying - that had been more Miles's territory - but the curiosity and need to remember if he's mixing up one story for another keep him from just letting it go in favor of less interesting topics.
"You met Regulus there, yes?"

"That's when the Demonic Monkey King, Zeman's soldiers started chasing me. They captured Kuribon and the others, but right when I thought I was done for, that's when he saved me. Well, found me a place to hide, more like. He wasn't really a brave sort of person at all, at first."

"Only at first?"

Back then his attitude had been discouraging, and not something she thought much about; the distance of a few years made it easier to consider. "I don't know how long that conflict had been going on, but it must have been a very long time. Zeman's army had been going into town and capturing the other spirits, sealing them into stone tablets. They left staffs all around town that would rewind time, as well. If they rewound to before your birth, I think it meant you would disappear. All the spirits that were still around when I got there seemed like young children, but they were all actually very old."
Her gaze moves back to the card for a moment, trying to piece the events back together. "he and the others must have spent months hiding like that. Once we were in hiding, he explained everything that was going on. But when I told him that I needed to find Regulus, he thought it was a terrible idea. It was really dangerous, but I couldn't not go, either, so... I sort of had to bully him into it."
Her tone is almost apologetic on the words, but her demeanor betrays her; it's something she'd easily repeat, and she doesn't regret it.
"If it'd been up to him, we never would have saved anyone. I got us out of town alright, and he led me to the forest where Regulus was staying. But he was cursed, too."
