Life's no fun without a good scare
WHO: The Twins Weasley and YOU
WHERE: Rented out building in the City
WHEN: Midnight Sunday 10/23-Friday 10/28 at 11:59pm
WARNINGS: Magical mayhem and mischief?
SUMMARY: The twins have a haunted house! Come one, come all…if you dare.
FORMAT: Para with ooc notes to start, then whatever. Feel free to add additional threads!
The building wasn’t much to look at from the outside, a simple store front rented out for the month which, save for the sign above it, could have passed for any other season Halloween costume store. This one, however, had WEASLEY WIZARD WHEEZES PROUDLY PRESENTS: A HAUNTED HALLOWEEN sparkling in bold font over the doorway.
The inside was another matter entirely. There was nothing like a little magic when it came to appearances, and the twins and friends had gone the extra mile to make it appear one had stepped into a traditional haunted Victorian mansion. At the entrance there are two arrows, one pointing down the hall labeled ‘GROWN UPS’ and one pointed up the stairs labeled ‘KIDS.’ Outside of that, there is zero effort being put into making sure kids go into the safe zone.
Down each hallway, upstairs or down, past the charmed ghosts, reaching hands, and all the other ‘got you’ scary moments of things jumping out of the walls, there are a series of doors one must choose to walk through, each with it’s own results. To exit the house again, at least one must be chosen. Happy Haunting.
OOC: Effects of the Doors
Treat doors lead to samples of either muggle, magical, or a mix of candy, served up in a little bowl with a nice hand written smiley face placed next to it. People are free to take as much candy as they like, but the bowl will sound like it’s clearing its throat at them and the exit won’t open if until at least one piece is taken.
The magical candies can be found here. Please note only the candies are available, there will be no extendable ears or darkness powered offered for consumption.
On the kids floor, all doors lead to either treats or cheesy ‘tricks’ that involve battery powered shaking skeletons and the like.
On the adults floor trick doors will lead to one of four things:
1) For the next 24 hours the subject believes they *are* whatever they are in costume as. People who are lame and just in their normal clothes will keep on thinking they’re themselves (alternatively, if that person has been going through a crisis of self they will be more...like themselves. Or more like the person they were when they first entered the city). People will not actually become their costume, they will just have the delusion of it.
2) Getting stuck in a certain room until a puzzle is answered. Any additional people who walk into that room will also be stuck, and people are not capable of leaving through the door even if it is opened without solving the puzzle. Or until the twins get bored and let them out. People with magic or teleporting abilities will be able to get out themselves, but it is frowned upon.
3) Halloween helpers. For the next 12 hours whoever is unlucky enough to enter this room will have small, singing gnomes following them around like horrible moons around a planet. These guys don’t do anything except dance around and sing terrible Halloween themed songs. It starts out as just two of them, but every time the person attempts to destroy or physically harm the gnomes, a single gnome will split into two new gnomes.
4) One room will have three potions that must be chosen from before the person can exit. One potion does nothing, while one is a dealing potion and the other an aging potion. This does not mentally change the person, but their physical appearance for the next few hours will either be that of someone much older or younger.
There is a random number generator here if you’d like to use it, or just pick a number and go with the effects. Please address all questions to this post!

OPEN
talking to himself:] It's just a haunted house, Ned. You came here for one thing, so just keep - walking. You can do this.
no subject
She's even used her power to lengthen her hair, which is in a long braid down her back.
Turning the corner, she spots something move out of the corner of her eye and she shrieks. Then she sees it's just Ned.]
Ned! Don't do that! You scared the crap outta me!
no subject
S-sorry. But I could say the same to you.
Are you in here alone?
no subject
Yeah, are you?
[There's an OO-HOO-HOOOOO! sound down the hall behind her and she jumps.]
Whoa!
no subject
Foolishly, yes. [he gestures in a gentlemanly fashion. though given the circumstances, it's really the opposite.] Ladies first.
no subject
[She moves ahead cautiously, practically on tiptoe as mist flows through the hall. Then a hand comes out of the wall and grabs her and she screams, jumping back and holding out her hands. Suddenly an odd pulse emits from them, surrounding her and slamming the hand back into the wall. If you look closely, you can see an iridescence similar to a soap bubble surrounding her.]
Oh! Oh my gosh! W-What's this?
[It disappears and she looks at her hands with surprise.]
no subject
W-was that M-magic...?
no subject
[She trails off, realizing something.]
Don't people get more than one superpower here? What if that's one of mine? Like it's... a push people back without touching them power?
[Or force field manipulation, Erin.]
no subject
That's probably, a more logical conclusion. Maybe we should find the way out now.
no subject
Think it's this way?
no subject

[Suddenly all the lights go out and it's pitch black. She let's out a shriek.]

no subject
Should we keep walking or wait to see if the lights come back?

[It's hard to tell if she's joking or not, but she sounds happy to just be finding the way out.
A cold breeze blows on the back of her neck and she shivers.]
Boy, the Weasleys sure went all out, didn't they?
no subject
Were you a girl scout?
no subject
[She stumbles over something but manages to keep her balance.]
Whoa! What was that?
no subject
[He's flushed and clearly recovering from a panic attack as the boa constrictor disappears in a puff of smoke.]
no subject
Oh, man, thanks for that! Ew, snakes are so icky!
[She turns towards him, seeing how it affected him.]
It's ok, it's gone now.
[She rubs his arm reassuringly, albeit a bit awkwardly, because she's Erin.]
no subject
Magic snakes, even moreso.
no subject
[She makes a bit of a face at that. Last time she'd been in the company of a Weasley, she'd been turned into a bird.]
