Extra notes for November:
- There will be a Thanksgiving hosted here, but I will make a separate log post for it.

"Yeah. I'm here, right?" But if there's ever a moment in which he looks astoundingly his age, this'll be it. "I'm dead tired is all. Going to sleep for a week, if I can manage it."

He lets out a weak laugh, looks around. The bell dings at the counter and he gets up to retrieve his two slices of pie. He resists digging in immediately for the sake of their conversation. See? He's learned a little restraint. "You okay? I'm sorry I lost track of everyone, pretty much. Messy stuff, yeah?"

He looks tired. She doesn't want to say that, but he does. Honestly, it makes her flash back to that day, right after Harry killed Voldemort. No one had any energy that day. That's what this reminds her of.

But this time there was less to be sad about. Thinking of that cheers her, a bit.

"I'm fine. Didn't get hurt, although..." She frowns. "One of the girls I was fighting with, Sofia, she didn't come out of it the best. Where were you? Caught in the middle of everything?"

"Basically." Ron frowns, as well, and leaves it at that. The details are unimportant and he probably couldn't hash them out right now if he tried. He doesn't want to question this Sofia's health for fear of the answer. Conversation seems like it might be a lost cause for the day. There's never a lot to say after the world narrowly avoids ending.

He digs into his pie, then, mind digging, for a moment, for something to say. He retains a tendency to talk with his mouth full, and the comment finally comes before he's swallowed his first bite. "'M glad you're okay, Ginny."

"I'm glad you are, too."

She smiles, because while he may be older he's still so very much Ron. And he's right. Words always get a bit lost after this sort of a fight. Especially when you're trying to talk about it, so Ginny decides not to. She doesn't even care if it's an elephant in the room, or that it's still fresh in her mind. She knows the best way to feel normal again is to act normal as soon as possible, and eventually it just happens.

"Possible world ending aside. How have you been, Ron?"

"'M fine." He answered briefly, without temper, but there still might be an edge to it. He's still stuck in a world (that almost ended) without his family, and that bugs him on a daily basis. He won't whine to anybody about it, though. Most everybody is going through the same thing, after all. Maybe with less time-line awkwardness, but that's beside the point.

He doesn't want to bring up Tom Riddle, either, even though that's something that's also hanging in the air. Mundane conversation...

"How's the brownie, then?"

Well, there was an answer she absolutely didn't believe for a minute. She always found Ron easy to read when they were both sort of the same age. This older version was better at hiding things, at keeping things close to his chest. That didn't surprise Ginny, given that there was so much about his life he couldn't tell any of them. And he was a generation older now. She couldn't imagine what that must be like.

"It's not bad. Not as good as mum's. The City's made me appreciate her cooking, actually."

"Really?" He gets a smile out of that, and returns with an almost-quippy, "I learned to appreciate that a long time ago."

On the hunt for the horcruxes, in actuality, but that does sort of tie-in with the fact that he likes to occasionally poke fun at Hermione's cooking. He had to be careful not to actually offend her, but that was less of a problem here. Either way, his tone carries a bit of a mocking edge to it, never mind that the joke's mostly in his own head.

"I don't figure anybody'll beat mum, though. Good food and bad sweaters: Grandma Weasley's staples."

It was beginning to occur to Ginny that it was looking like this coming Christmas would be her first one that didn't involve mum's knitted jumpers. That caused her a bit of a pang. Ron had always hated them, and apparently that didn't change with age. But even his complaining was something she'd gotten used to.

"I reckon you ought to introduce some of those traditions yourself," she said. "You don't think mum would give you her recipe book? I think you'd be up to the task, Ronald."

"Please. I've already learned more about cooking than I ever thought I would, and I'm still not very good at it. Aside..." He popped in another bite of pie, reaching up to tap one of his temples with a fore-finger. "I think it's all up in her noggin. The secrets are unattainable."

Ginny smiled innocently. "I'm sure she wouldn't be against giving you some one on one, private lessons." The thought of that was hilarious, given that Ginny knew how her mother generally behaved in the kitchen. It was one of the reasons Ginny tended to hide upstairs when she could get away with it.
