SUMMARY: Bucky decided to have a poker game and invite… whoever wanted to show up. THIS MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN VERY SMART.

Bucky wound up solving his food problem by ordering three bags of something or other stacked high with white take-out boxes from the Chinese place his neighbors were always going on about. He also made sure his apartment was spic and span. It was a remarkably tidy space: nothing interesting on the walls, no television, and now a couple orders of cashew chicken placed on a big card table in the center.

He'd bought a few decks of cards from the corner store and unwrapped one of them, flipping the cardstock between his fingers. Yeah, he was ready to play poker.

[ Oh, Spidey. A brief glance at the other box and she realizes she can use something to eat right about now. Although talking with your mouth full is considered bad manners. ]

Sure. Mind passing one over?

[ She takes the box, nodding in thanks. ]

[Vic sneaks up from behind and eyes their chicken.]

Now, you two know what they say about speaking of the devil. I'm sure our host's ears will be burning at this point.

[Spidey hands him a box. Box-hander-over, that's his job tonight.]

Eh, there are worse things than picking up a false tell during a poker game.

[ She's about to dig into hers and tilts her head in Vic's direction. ]

Eavesdropping isn't polite.

[ But she smirks anyway, amused. ]

[Oh, who's he to turn down food? He actually brought them a couple beers also, which he reveals as he comes around and has a seat.]

Well, I guess that makes me professionally impolite. What's going on in this corner?

[He waves off the beer politely, takes a sip of his -- is that milk?]

[ Leaning back, she takes a sip of her own beer. ]

I hope we don't look too suspicious now.

[Vic splits his chopsticks out of the package and starts digging through his chicken.]

Need something to look suspicious about first. I might be able to provide.

Ooooh, are we gossiping? I love gossip. Is it about Bucky? 'Cause you know that guy's got some deep, dark secret ... maybe he likes the Care Bears.

[ She grins, looking so amused. ]

[He finishes chewing a mouthful, then takes a sip of his beer before leaning in he's just telling them any regular story.]

Let me start from the top, to bring Spidey up to speed. Most of the big criminals in town had a meet last night, and I managed to wrangle a disguise that net me an in.

Turns out The Major was the brain behind this shindig.

Funny I'd be mentioning that to you here. Bucky and I were actually the ones to put him away back in March.

Doesn't seem like he had much planned for the event beyond the very idea of setting up this kind of criminal network, but there were a few who seemed to have bigger ideas for him. Heard there was an assassination attempt. Don't know the details, but apparently it went sour.
