poker night

SUMMARY: Bucky decided to have a poker game and invite… whoever wanted to show up. THIS MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN VERY SMART.

Bucky wound up solving his food problem by ordering three bags of something or other stacked high with white take-out boxes from the Chinese place his neighbors were always going on about. He also made sure his apartment was spic and span. It was a remarkably tidy space: nothing interesting on the walls, no television, and now a couple orders of cashew chicken placed on a big card table in the center.

He'd bought a few decks of cards from the corner store and unwrapped one of them, flipping the cardstock between his fingers. Yeah, he was ready to play poker.

It's alright. I would have felt weird given how young she is. A harmless date at the auction was fun.

She also had a boyfriend for a while here.

Oh, you never know. I know a few people who would find signing someone up for something like that funny.

Ah, I remember now. The husband wasn't happy?

Did the night end well, at least?

It did. I got to talk and dance with a good friend which made the night infinitely better.

Mmhm. [ she looks around and points out peter who... may or may not be in spider-costume?! ] Him.

And Kate's quirks an eyebrow as she glances over. ]

Yep. He's a bit of a dork, but he's a great guy.

When Vic was ported out, Zatanna and I went to check his place. Tinfoil was involved, but not my idea.

He an Avenger, too?

[bests]

Yeah, he is. Though he was doing the hero thing for years before he ever joined the team.

Solo. I like that.

A lot of us do the solo thing outside the Avengers.

We've got the Justice League and other teams back home, but in Gotham many of our capes tend to fly solo. So to speak.

But not all of them?

They're kind of like their own family, I think. Batman, Robin, Batgirl...
