[When your character arrives at Stark Tower, they will most likely find a.) a metric ton of other Imports there and b.) the same machine in the Porter room that spat out their dog tags at them, waiting for them to approach. Lachesis will give them their new personalized communicators after requesting that they STATE YOUR NAME, HERO, but there might be the occasional insult! Possibly vuvuzela sounds. There is also particularly insipid elevator music playing in the background constantly, like so.

[dissatisfaction]

[Man, you would think that with the gazillion and one communicators in Hell Towers, one of them would work. One of them would have gotten passed over. A few of them hadn't been touched in years, after all.

But no. Of course not.

So while visiting the Porter to get a new communicator was really the last thing he'd wanted to do today, Kiryu is there, waiting in line. Absently shuffling through his deck, over and over again. Looking...calm but still a bit annoyed. Mostly at the choice of music than the waiting or the amount of people. Because damn it, he would wait in line for days to get a working communicator if he had to, they are kind of important, okay.]

[hackeralastair]

[too bad Alastair left his deck at home. He expected to be going to work today so really. This is him now attempting not to cuddle his boyfriend in public. It's so tempting, though. He keeps worrying about Kiryu and wanting to be close, he can't help it]

[dissatisfaction]

[Kiryu pauses as he reaches the end of his deck, again, and finally slips it back into his duel disk. The new one, shaped like a revolver. Which is promptly stuck back in its holster.]

This is taking forever... [so he might be a little more annoyed than he seems to be.]

[hackeralastair]

[Alastair's been doing his best to ignore that it's gun-shaped, and suppress any little twitches of discomfort when he sees it. Whether or not Kiryu notices, he's trying really hard]

I know. Not that I mind being away from work but this is fucking ridiculous.

[dissatisfaction]

[But it's awesome Alastair, he's like a real cowboy now. With card games.

And he's noticed a couple of them, but he's felt uncomfortable with bringing it up. Because he kind of likes it...but he does feel bad that it bothers Alastair.]

Yeah...your boss is probably out here too, so at least you won't get in trouble right?

[hackeralastair]

Yeah, I caught sight of him earlier. I'm pretty sure all I have to say is 'ask Stark' and my supervisor will shut up. [siiiigh] I never wanted to have to rely on import shit but it'll get me off the hook.

[man, screw behaving, he's going to grab for a hand and give it a squeeze]

[Kiryu can't quite help the automatic look of surprise he's been having lately at gestures like that...but at least he's been getting better about it. More used to the idea that yes, Alastair really does like him no matter what sort of person he'd been before.

So it's only there for a moment before he smiles very slightly and squeezes back.]

Yeah, sometimes you kinda have to. But if they don't get that by now...

Yeah, I know. [with a small smile. Good, he's warming up, that's a good sign]

[he still loves you really, Alastair, he's just skiddish about it right now :c but he's not letting go either!]

...You'll probably have to program our encryptions in again.

Meh. That won't be hard. I can probably hack that in tonight. Since... [looking around] ...something tells me I'm not going back to the office today. Might as well just give it up and go home when we've got our comms.

[dissatisfaction]

[he chuckles a bit</small.] Somehow, I think most of us are gonna do that. I'd be okay with that.

[Kiryu was notable just for the simple fact that he wasn't being as twitchy or bouncy as the rest of the people in the room. That much had caught Trowa's attention. What held it, however, were the cards in his hands.]

[He couldn't figure out why Kiryu kept shuffling them. It wasn't as though they had room to play--and anyway, they didn't look like any cards he'd ever seen. No numbers, and no hearts or diamonds or anything like that.]

[Trowa leans forward, trying to catch a glimpse of the face sides of the cards while Kiryu works them, squinting.]

[dissatisfaction]

[If this had happened before he'd spent a year at home, he would have been one of the twitchest of the bunch. But that's mostly out of his system now, really only manifesting now in his shuffling of his deck.

It's a moment before he really notices Trowa--he's pretty used to having people watch him by now--and when he does its another long moment before the kid seems familiar at all. And even then its only a nagging feeling that he should be more familiar than he is. A year was a long time, and he and the older Trowa hadn't been all that close when he was there.

But hey. A kid interested in his cards is always good.]

[Unfortunately, Trowa's restart meant that he didn't have a snowball's chance in hell of recognizing Kiryu. So with the young man's failure to pick up on who the kid is, they begin this conversation as complete strangers.]

[The boy raises a hand a half-foot upward from his side in greeting before letting it fall back down. He nods his head at the cards.]

Those look wrong.

[dissatisfaction]

[Kiryu just laughs a bit at that, though not in a mean way. He's happy someone's asking about them at all--one of the biggest adjustments so far after coming back was remembering that most people didn't care about Duel Monsters much, if they'd heard of it at all.]

They're Duel Monsters cards. They're suppose to look like this.

[He squints again. There's a lot of words on them.]

Can I see one?

[dissatisfaction]

[Kiryu nods and takes a moment to look through them again, before pulling one out to hand to Trowa.]

That's one of my favorites.

[thesoundofsilence]

[He takes it and holds it gingerly, a little afraid of bending or otherwise damaging the card. Noting the three stars at the top, Trowa wonders if it's some kind of rank, like soldiers have, before his eyes are caught and held by the picture.]

It's like a dog. The black and brown ones. But his face is missing.

[The words still don't make sense to him, so he just hands it back over.]

[dissatisfaction]

[The careful handling is appreciated! He is slightly less fanatically attached to his cards than he used to be, but he still doesn't like the let them out of his hands most of the time.]

Yeah. He acts like a dog, too. I used to play with him a lot in the parks here.
