I found life out on the weekdays

SUMMARY: McCulloch explores the City and spies on a lot of people while he does it.
FORMAT: Quick?

The most obvious thing McCulloch noticed about this place was that he couldn't get back to the Mirror Lands. Not for lack of trying, of course, but every attempt he made just took him down a long tunnel lined with windows for every mirror and reflective surface which he could sure still peer through, but it wasn't the same. He couldn't find or do what he wanted with the same kind of ease.

But there's aye a something; he'd learn to use it just like he'd learned to use the Mirror Land. He ran down the tunnel, peering through each window as he went to get a feel of this place. It may have been New York, but he didn't know if it was New York or alternate New York or Mirror New York or what -- or who else was here, but so far he was just seeing the same old mundane things like people brushing their teeth, objects in the rear view mirror, birds hitting windows, women putting on makeup. (Way too much rogue, but that was Americans for you.)

[ Satisfied, she lands again, tucking her wings in. Just some kind of illusion, since it has no smell. ]

Really what? [ wow this guy, he is going to lose her so fast ]

[datglass]

[ He makes it disappear with another click of the gun. He speaks slower this time. ]

Really we cannae get home?

[onblackwings]

I thought we'd established already that I wasn't joking. [ Mimicking that slow speech: ] I'm a dragon, if you hadn't noticed. We're not easy to keep places against our will, and if I can't get home in a year, I'm sure you won't at all.

[datglass]

[ He stares at her, then laughs. ]

Awright! You're a right wee clatty for a dragon! [ Chinhands. ] So what's a dragon get up to 'roond here? Caught yerself any princesses?

[onblackwings]

[ Not sure if... insulted or complimented...... ]

Oh, once. [ Tim counts as a princess, right? Right. ] It wasn't nearly as satisfying as you might expect.

[datglass]

That's a right shame, that. Gaun yerself and live a little.

[onblackwings]

Well, that's the goal.

[ If this guy is a hero, he's a pretty decent one. There's a few pleased tail-tip flips as she watches him, then: ] Can you come out of there?

[datglass]

[ He considers for a moment, then sticks his torso out the reflection, balancing himself along the thin ledge before he pulls his legs out. ]

Better?

[onblackwings]

Somewhat.

[ Still watching, still considering... ]

Do you have any... less colorful clothing?

[datglass]

Naw. [ He has no idea why he's being looked at like that. He pulls his mask off. ] How's that a bother?

[onblackwings]

[ Well, that's a start. She's always vaguely worried someone will be absolutely hideous under their mask, but it hasn't happened yet! ]

I was going to offer a tour, but I'm not sure I want to be seen with someone dressed so gaudily.

[datglass]

[ He looks wary at this notion, but flicks a switch on his gun again and his outfit shimmers so that it looks like a casual button-down and jeans. Ah, the wonders of mirror illusions. DRAGON RIDES!! ]

Awright, how can I say say no tae that? Ya won't drop me down or nowt, right?

[onblackwings]

[ She nods her approval after a second or two of study, sitting up onto her haunches. (And might be revising her "hero" definition — what hero de-costumes so easily?) ]

That's not the type of tour I was planning on. [ sorry, bitch is super stingy with the dragon rides. :( ] Can you get to this roof?

[datglass]

[ RUUUUUDE. He's putting his mask back on just for that. ]

Aye, easy as breathing. [ He enters the reflection again. ] We racin'?

[onblackwings]

[ She snorts. ] Stop guessing, it's not doing you any favors. Just come here.

[datglass]

[ In a few seconds, he shows up in the reflections along the roof and peeks out. ]

Awright, so?

[onblackwings]

[ Oh, much better. There's no warning, or any sign of magic at work. One minute he's sharing the roof with a large black dragon, and the next it's a tall, naked woman, instead. And man is it suddenly cold. Both arms are immediately wrapping around herself, but she smiles anyway. ]

Now, unless you can conjure up a coat in the way you did your clothing, I find myself something warmer, and we begin that tour.

[datglass]

[ He just stares. And stares. And tilts his head and stares. He leaves the reflection and puts his hands on his hips. ]

Thing about these civvies is that they're just hard light illusions, hen. But you're welcome t' take a tour underneath 'em if you're cold.

[onblackwings]

Oh, how generous.

[ And she sounds a little amused! It's a pretty fearless dude that immediately starts hitting on her, not three seconds after she was just a large predator. ]

But I'll have to decline. I have proper clothing somewhere around here.

[datglass]

Och, gaun then. [ He crosses his arms, impatiently. Still gonna stare, though. ]

[onblackwings]

I'll only be a moment.

[ Smile! And then she just... vanishes, as suddenly as she'd changed. He's either just been ditched, or just scored a date. ONE OR THE OTHER. ]

[datglass]

[ He's just going to stand there, maybe send some mirror duplicates around the nearby area to try and find her to spy on her. Just in case. ]

[onblackwings]

[ The power's gone out by now in Booga's old workshop, half a city away, but Khisanth doesn't need light to see. She's changed into her stashed outfit in just a minute or two, and shortly after is teleporting back in, properly covered in a fashionable black dress, and diamond necklace of earlier shrunk back to its proper size.

She holds a hand out for his as soon as she's back, smiling again. ]

Shall we?

[datglass]

[ Without any light he'll be hard-pressed to find her, so he's pacing irritably when she gets back. ]

Just where are we gaun?

Gansevort, I think. Very attractive place. [ That hand is still out, waiting. ] I hope you arrived with money.
