It'd been a whole month since this strange dream started. A whole month as his life turned upside down and everything stopped making sense.

He'd gotten the job back, that was what was important. He'd even gotten his japanese peace lily.

But he'd thought the job was in a good place and with good people, and that didn't look to be the case. He stared down at his pint, untouched on the bar.

Look, I'm not saying he didn't save possibly hundreds of lives yesterday.

Heat of a gun fight is one thing, but-- they're claiming there was torture...

It wasn't like that. Jack's a good cop, alright? I mean there was only a couple of minutes left and he just started shouting and he stuck his gun in Stiles' face.

He threatened to shoot him, but he wasn't torturing him.

[He said nothing for a minute, and then nodded.]

... Yeah. Alright. I believe you. It's not... It's not good, but that's better than what I thought. [He frowned slightly.]

I didn't know. Jack isn't like that though. Whatever he's done he's always done it for the right reasons.

"For the greater good". No. I've heard that argument. We have laws and rules for a reason. They're even more important for us, not less. [He took a breath.]

Maybe it was just... the once. Just in the heat of everything.

[He let out a long breath and then reached out and put a hand on Seras's undamaged shoulder.]

You're right. I'm sure all this will be sorted out soon and we can get back to doing our jobs.

Quite a while. I went for months after I became a vampire before I had any. It wasn't as strong as I should have been though so since I've been here I've tried not to do that. I'm the first one in between and the Major and the City and if I'm half starved I won't be much good to anyone will I?

[That and she really didn't want to have Sir Integra show up and force her to eat again. It was...embarrassing.]
