SUMMARY: two casual acquaintances run into each other in the library. also two people who don't know each other at all run into each other in the library.

[ it's been a long second day at work, and Max has some research she wants to do so she can get more on top of things and not feel like she's always in the process of catching up rather than actually doing her job. this isn't something she's ever done before, and she wants to be sure she's doing all she can.

so she can be found browsing through the nonfiction section, looking at books about diplomacy and how to make people like each other. ]

for gwen;

[ at some point after she finishes talking to Daria, she returns to searching for books, and with a few thick research books in her arms decides to drop by the magazines just to see if there's something easy and fun she could grab to read.

like said, it's been a long day. a little relaxing is also in order. ]

[ Quietly flopping down into a nearby chair because she's too tired to just stand around chatting. ]

What sort of school stuff?

Uh...

[ cue deer in the headlights look. ]

[ looking over in sudden amusement. ]

Not-school school stuff?

[candidly]

[ she looks kind of sheepish. ]

Yeah. It's just... a book. That I'm reading. For fun.

[futurebatwoman]

I'm sure homework can wait. By this time of the year it might as well, anyways.

Do you graduate this year?

[candidly]

Ugh, no. I've still got one more year before I'm done. I am totally ready for school to just be over though.

[futurebatwoman]

[ a little sing song ]

First comes high school, then comes college...

[candidly]

Nope. [ she closes her book with her finger keeping her place. ] I've pretty much decided I'm not going to college.

[futurebatwoman]

Well, given the setting - sort of makes sense.

What are you going to do, then?

[candidly]

I dunno. Work, I guess. Try and help out my family some.

[futurebatwoman]

What type of job, do you think?

[candidly]

I don't know. I already do some modeling stuff for City Lights, so maybe I'll see if I can do some other stuff around the office.

[futurebatwoman]

You model? Is it fun?

[candidly]

[ she shrugs ] It is, but I think it's more the people than anything else. I know the girl who does the outfits, and then Johnny does some modeling too, and the photographer is... well, he's family, so.

[futurebatwoman]

That does sound like it would be fun. [ a slight shrug. ] I'm pretty sure I'm too short to model, but I can definitely see you pulling it off well.

[candidly]

It's totally not something I ever thought I'd be doing, but... Never really thought I'd be stuck in an alternate universe either.

[futurebatwoman]

The things alternate universes do to you. Modelling. What a drag.

[ she smiles over at her. ] Prom's coming up soon, isn't it?

[candidly]

Yep. And I'm planning on spending prom night on the couch, in sweatpants, watching old movies and eating ice cream. No matter how much Johnny whines.

[futurebatwoman]

I'm going to take a shot in the dark from that and guess you're not a fan.

[candidly]

Not at all.

[futurebatwoman]

Why not?

[candidly]

Because it's basically a way to celebrate the really popular kids and make everyone who can't find a date miserable because it's such a big deal! Whooo!!

[futurebatwoman]

I didn't have a date either time I went to prom. But I had a lot of fun.

[candidly]

If I don't have a date, I'm just gonna end up playing third wheel to my friends, though.
