I Hope You'll Understand
WHO: Agatha Heterodyne and Tarvek Sturmvoraus
WHERE: Agatha's lab, at Spark Roast Coffee
WHEN: The 24th.
WARNINGS: Tarvek singing.
SUMMARY: Tarvek attempts to show Agatha the sketches of outfits he's working on for her. He winds up serenading her instead.
FORMAT: Quicklog.
[Tarvek's been working on these sketches for quite some time, even to the point of ignoring his own clothing, the original reason he built the sewing machine in the first place. Agatha wanted him to design clothing for her, something he'd already secretly been doing for quite some time, and that was important enough to put everything else on hold. What he made for her had to be flawless.
That was why he's taking his sketches to her after work today. He doesn't think he'll be able to bear it if he made her something she didn't like. He knocks on the doorframe of the door to her lab.]
Agatha? Are you in here?
[Of course she is. Where else would she be?]

[Of course she is. Where else would she be?]
no subject
But she's not, she's in the lab of course!!!1
And smiles brilliantly at him from her newest project, which appears to involve some sort of instruments.]
Tarvek! Come in, come in!
no subject
[He holds up a small sheaf of papers -- that hand is also holding a pencil. He's quite willing to make alterations.]
What are you working on?
no subject
[Tools set down, yes! And she'll just reach out for that sheaf of papers, wanting to see those sketches~]
no subject
Most of them are simple cotton and leather, good sturdy fabrics that will hold up in a work environment, and there's a good mix of skirts and trousers, blouses and coats, even some gloves and shoes. He seems to have gone for mostly greens and golds and creams in terms of coloration (he had to hold himself back from designing her a black leather evil queen getup, but he didn't think she'd appreciate it).]
Feel free to critique and offer comments.
no subject
Oh, those colors are quite nice, and in tune with her taste. It reminds her of home a bit, honestly.]
They're lovely, Tarvek. My one suggestion would be to use linen over cotton - it breathes better. I think I favor pants over skirts more, these days.
Easier to maneuver around in engines with.

[Agatha you're such a smart lady. Gosh.
He really doesn't know what he'd do without you. He opens his mouth to say something more, and--]
What would you think if I sang out of tune,
Would you stand up and walk out on me?
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song,
And I'll try not to sing out of key
[...What.
OH NO OH NOOOOO WHAT IS HAPPENING NOOOOOOOO]
no subject
Staring. Staaaaaaring.]
Tarvek, what..?
no subject
Oh yeah, I'll tell you something
I think you'll understand
When I say that something
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
[NO
MAGICAL SINGING WORDS
STOP THAT
YOU'RE NOT HELPING]
no subject
And then she gets an idea. Perhaps she could do science to him and it would stop? That seems like a wonderful plan.]
Tarvek- Tarvek, don't worry, I'll help you.
[Some form of sonic ray, perhaps? That could do it. Or knock him unconscious, either way.]
no subject
If he ever confessed, he was going to plan it perfectly, make sure everything was just so, make sure it couldn't go wrong. Now this is happening and he doesn't know what to do and he's so, so scared of being judged.]
Oh, please, say to me
You'll let me be your man
and please, say to me
I want you
I want you so bad
I want you
I want you so bad
It's driving me mad
It's driving me mad
[ATTACK OF THE BEATLES MEDLEY]
no subject
And she knows you wouldn't normally say this kind of thing - in fact, she's not sure you even feel that way, but this one is really making her blush.
Because w
o
w.
Blushing hard enough to stop the frantic scribbling she'd started on a piece of nearby paper.]
I-
you-!
no subject
Very carefully, Tarvek puts his hands on her shoulders. His voice gets quieter, and the music gets softer.]
Please remember how I feel
About you.
I could never really live
Without you.
So, come on back and see
Just what you mean to me.
I need you.
I need you.
I need you.
Who knows how long I've loved you,
You know I love you still,
Will I wait a lonely lifetime,
If you want me to I will.
no subject
And that is.
That is well.
Um. His hands are on her- Their faces are close-
P-perhaps she should.. lean a little closer?]
no subject
This is. Kind of going better than he thought it would? Oh, dear. Um.]
Love you forever and forever,
Love you with all my heart;
Love you whenever we're together,
Love you when we're apart.
And when at last I find you,
Your song will fill the air,
Sing it loud so I can hear you,
Make it easy to be near you,
For the things you do endear you to me,
oh, you know I will.
I will.
[The music fades off. Their faces are scant inches apart. His hands are on her shoulders and his eyes are closed because he's pretty sure that was the end of it and he doesn't want to see her face when she pushes him away.]
no subject
Aw, hell. Might as well go for gold.
She'll just. Kiss him very lightly.]
no subject
Oh
Oh sweet lightning.
He's dreamed of what it might be like to kiss her, when he allowed himself to entertain the notion that she might ever want to, but he never ever thought it would go like this. He always imagined sweeping her up into his arms and taking her breath away, but now he's finding it's very much the other way around, and he's okay with that.
He kisses back, just as softly, shyly because he still thinks this might be a fluke. One hand curls into her hair.]
no subject
But nothing does.
It's been a long, long three years with nothing of home, nobody she really let herself get close to. Forgive her if she seems a little desperate somehow, Tarvek.
Her hands find themselves resting on his chest as she leans up into the kiss, just a little, not wanting to pull away just yet.]
no subject
It's also a strange idea to him that Agatha could want him, even without Gil around to be the one she obviously loves. Of course she'd be desperate and lonely after three years.
He resolves not to think about how she might only be kissing him because he's the closest thing to Gil she has, and to think instead about how warm she is and how her hands on his chest feel really, really nice and how for someone who hasn't done very much kissing due to being distracted by invading armies, she's actually pretty good.
Or maybe he's just also inexperienced. Who knows.
Eventually, though, he has to pull back. Not because of the age-old myth about kissing obstructing breathing, but because he needs a break to clear his head and get his thoughts in order and talk to her on his terms.]
I meant all of that, you know. That is, I didn't entirely start out on purpose, or choose the lyrics, but it was all very... appropriate.
no subject
Which, honestly, is a long time for feelings to fade.
Either way, the break is good, because she also needs to clear her head.
Blushing, she leans forward to rest her forehead on his shoulder, not quite willing to let go just yet.]
I think I suspected, Tarvek. But I didn't realize how strongly you feel. I...need to think about this. I'm not sure what I'm feeling.
no subject
That's perfectly understandable. I... Well, you heard what I said, I'll wait however long you need me to. Naturally my feelings are stronger; I haven't had three years alone to forget them.
[He still feels horrible about that, even if there wasn't really anything he could have done about it.]
And... and even if your answer is no, I'll always be here, in whatever capacity you'll have me.
no subject
Thank you, for being so understanding.
[Seriously all the bear hugs. Hope your ribs aren't fragile, Tarvek.]
I'm so glad I can count on you, here.
no subject
I'm glad that you trust me enough to count on me.
[He'd be good with just. Hugs forever.]
That's all I ever wanted, you know. For you to trust me, even a little. Even a little would be more than I really deserve.
no subject
Well, I do.
[Sigh.]
The problem is, when I get sent home, I won't remember this. Any of it. And neither will you.
no subject
[After all, if they won't remember it, and he fucks it up? It ultimately won't matter.]
no subject
We can make the best of it.
