When a month rolled by and there was no word from him, Shatterstar had given up on expecting boyfriend's return. Especially after Piper had ceased to show up to work. It seemed that there was no point in hoping, so he'd been distracting himself with work and television.
Which is, of course, exactly when Rictor decides to waltz right back in. Beaming, Shatty throws open the door, totally undeterred by the mutant (former mutant??)'s dry tone and proving so by yanking him unceremoniously forward by the lapels of his jacket for a kiss. ]
