[ It's funny how you don't realize how much you need a person until you contemplate living in an alternate dimension without them. There was a part of him that had dreaded asking whether or not Shatterstar was still here-- and a bigger part that had been embarrassingly relieved to find out that he was.

A month and a half is a long time to be gone. But, hey. Better late than never, right?

On the other end of the line, Shatterstar asks where he is. Where is he right now? Well.

Wryly: ] Outside. You gonna let me in, or what?

[ Shatterstar vaults over the couch, even though there isn't actually anyone around to impress. It's true that he was used to the transient nature of dimension hopping, and even that he thought he had prepared himself for the possibility by the warnings of fellow imPorts... but it had hurt in ways he couldn't put words to, when Rictor left after only a week.

When a month rolled by and there was no word from him, Shatterstar had given up on expecting boyfriend's return. Especially after Piper had ceased to show up to work. It seemed that there was no point in hoping, so he'd been distracting himself with work and television.

Which is, of course, exactly when Rictor decides to waltz right back in. Beaming, Shatty throws open the door, totally undeterred by the mutant (former mutant??)'s dry tone and proving so by yanking him unceremoniously forward by the lapels of his jacket for a kiss. ]

I suppose I could do that.

[ The second they're kissing, Rictor gets the feeling of being supremely stupid for putting this off, even for a minute. In his head, he can hear Monet telling him she told him so.

He only tilts his head when he remembers he has to breathe, leaning his forehead against Star's. He isn't sure when his hands fisted in Shatterstar's jacket, but he isn't in a hurry to let go either. He sounds significantly less sarcastic than he means to when he finally speaks: ]

Does this mean you missed me?

[entertaining]

[ Luckily for Rictor, Shatterstar doesn't realize he should probably be pissy about the fact that his boyfriend shuffled papers in an office all day instead of calling or checking in with him. Whatever he is not half as good at being grumpy as Mr Earthquake Pants anyway!! ]

If I did would you hold it against me?

[ He probably should, but then there'd be two pissy people in this relationship and you know how Rictor is with accommodation. (Bad.) Anyway, those licensing papers are totally not as good as this. Even Mr. Earthquake Grumpypants can acknowledge that. ]

First of all, you've clearly been watching too much TV.

[ Rictor makes a bit of a face. But he's entertained. Fond. It shows in the shape of his eyes and just around his mouth, if not in his tone. Dryly, as he eases away from the doorway, nudging it shut with his shoe: ]

[ Shatterstar manages to look scandalized. Which is an accomplishment for a man with absolutely no shame! ]

There is no such thing as "too much TV."

[ But he likes that look on Rictor's face. Not that he ever dislikes a look on Rictor's face, but that's not the point here. He runs his fingers down Rictor's arm, since he pulled away, and feels an odd giddiness that he can't quite define yet. ]

What happened while you were at-- home?

[ Rictor seems distracted a moment -- his attention caught on the way Shatterstar's fingers trail down his arm -- and he misses a half-beat before he remembers to answer, glancing up. ]

Actually? Nothing. I swear I was only there for maybe a minute or two. I was hoping maybe --

[ That he would reach the point in his timeline where he gets his powers back. It's just as well here, to have them, but knowing that eventually he'll have to go back to being powerless in their home universe is practically suffocating. ]

Nevermind. [ He puts his hands in his pockets, makes his tone dismissive. ] So. Catch me up. You've been doing something besides watching TV, right?
