summer lovin' happened so fast
WHO: Rose
nitidus & Kanaya
glowsferatu
WHERE: little italy.
WHEN: the 17th (backdated)
WARNINGS: teenage girls.
SUMMARY: A seer and a Vampire walk into a restaurant ...
FORMAT: Action
[Rose has gone to the rather elaborate and exhausting effort of making herself Look Presentable. This isn't exactly a date, but it's close enough. Rose is wearing a skirt, top (with cardigan) and sandals. She is a little peckish. Mostly, with walking to meet up with Kanaya, Rose is thirsty. She is thinking fondly about Sprite inbetween wondering what Kanaya wants to talk about. Perhaps they will discuss Rose's really attractive vodka and potato chip breath. Perhaps they will discuss the newest Vogue.
Perhaps Rose can run revenge ideas by Kanaya, because she has a brother grudge quota to fill.
There is a lot they can talk about while Rose consumes garlic bread ironically. (If Kanaya can survive at least two bouts of bad breath, Rose will know that she is a keeper).
She checks herself in a car window very quickly; puffs up her hair and glances around for Kanaya. Discreetly. Completely unbothered. Rose is the complete epitome of composure, with her back straight and her shoulders square. ]

she hadn't anticipated this when she came here. glancing back at the menu to break her gaze from rose's eyes, she tucks some hair behind her ear and tries to make a decision. why do so many of these dishes have garlic? what if she's allergic to garlic? if she goes into anaphylactic shock and rose has to call an ambulance, how ruined will the evening be? she really hadn't thought this through properly. ]
N-no. I just...I found it on Goog-- It came recommended when I was researching potential locations.
[ she frowns and looks back up from her menu. ] But it...nothing's wrong, is it?

[Rose is quick to lower her menu and offer a reassuring smile. It is perfect. It's very thoughtful and touching and when she thinks about how Kanaya went out of her way to ease her disappointment, she gets little butterflies in her stomach. Kanaya cared enough to do this, there is little chance that this could not be perfect.
She thinks she might get the chicken parmesan.
Or perhaps soup. ]
It's really wonderful. Thank you.

I've been meaning to ask you, uh... [ is this it? are you just going to transition into it now? maybe it would be better to order first, instead. not let it distract you from so important a topic.
she glances back down at her menu. ] Do you...do you know if any of these dishes lack garlic?
[ smooth. ]
no subject
I think you may have to ask a waiter -- I would only be guessing.
[Can you cook pasta with no garlic? Rose has no idea. ]
no subject
Would it be rude to ask for a garlic-free variant? I wouldn't want to insult the artisan behind such dishes.
...What order have you been entertaining? [ the most she has had of italian food is a pizza. she has no idea where to even begin. ]
no subject
[She pauses. She looks at the soft drinks and wonders if they do fancy virgin cocktails. Or if they will mix grapefruit and lemonade together. ]
Chicken Parmesan. [She pauses again and then turns her menu around, tapping her choice lightly. ]

maybe garlic won't even be an issue. human vampires can't take the sun either, right? maybe everything was different. maybe she could risk it.
she probably shouldn't risk it. ]
Is it good? I don't think I've tried it before.
[ either way, she had probably better make up her mind soon, as the attendant was approaching to take their order. ]
no subject
[And after an afterthought: ]
Let us just ask that they refrain from adding garlic. Just in case. I would be quite sad if you were to melt.
no subject
I believe I've settled on something else.
[ she orders a penne cremini, and, after some embarrassed hesitation, asks whether it includes garlic or not and ensures that her order won't she also apologizes in advance if the cook will at all take offense to such a request. she doesn't want to be a bother.
both she and the attendant glance at rose expectantly for her own order. ]
no subject
Her throat goes very dry. She swallows. ]
So.
no subject
I was thinking that we, well.
There was the whole...where we...you know.
And I guess we n-n-never really...talked about it.
no subject
pauses. Freezes. PANICS INSIDE. ]
Ah. Do you mean the, uhm -- the party?
no subject
I, well, maybe. No, yes.
It's-- Yes, the p-party.
[ articulation is really hard, okay. ] I was just wondering...I don't know. [ she doesn't. she's not actually sure what she wanted to ask there, so she just stops trying and hopes rose can pick up from there. ]
no subject
She is also blushing. A lot. So much blushing, she twists her napkin almost nervously. ] Well -- I mean.
A lot of things happened at that party. Ahem.

[The smooching. The unplanned blood donation. Gamzee. ]
I thought it ended on a ...satisfactory note.
no subject
For the evening itself, I wouldn't think to disagree! [ the ending was pretty awesome, she is all about the way it ended. ]
B-but the morning that followed left matters somewhat...unresolved?
no subject
[This is so awkward. Rose wishes she could skip to the part where they get down to holding hands. ]
Would you like to do it again?
no subject
lots of coughing and sputtering. very classy. ]
no subject
[OH ........ NO .......... ]
Is that a no?
no subject
No! I mean it isn't a no! I mean we, I, well.
I--I might.
