the formal (icon of hell optional)
WHO: [OPEN]
WHERE: the Brandt Banquet Hall
WHEN: Sunday March 29
WARNINGS: B|
SUMMARY: the superhero formal. Will things explode?
FORMAT: whatever you feel like

There are extensive tables for hor d'oeuvres, small desserts, and champagne as well as an open bar. Room for dancing is obvious, flanked by a small group of musicians. And there are alcoves for the shy, the hiding, the amorous, the machinating, or the creeper lurking.

"Did you come alone?" he questioned her, once his glass was lowered from his face.

She turned slightly, addressing a dark-haired young man standing nearby before turning back.
"I am simply making the rounds in the room - this is my employer's event, I anticipated that he would be pleased if I greeted and mingled with a few of his guests as well."
no subject
"Do you think your escort would mind if I asked you for a dance?" he questioned, indicating the band, which was winding down on a song. Perfect opportunity, as always.

However she managed to smile, gently setting her glass of champagne aside and offering out her hand.
"I do not think he would, I would be honored."
She sighed gently, enough that he wouldn't be able to hear her, just enough to wind down her now tense stomach at the thought.
ROFL. Wrong Tony account.
They passed a server, and he set his glass of water down on the tray, perfectly willing to find another later if he was going to have the honor of dancing with the host's assistant. On top of that, a beautiful woman and someone who didn't want him to die of some terrible disease. Really, things were doing quite well for Tony Stark, thus far.
XD IMPOSTER!
Raven tossed a few glances around at the others they passed, almost uncomfortably, subconsciously squeezing the hand that was holding hers once they made it out onto the dance floor. Alright, nervous did not even begin to describe the feeling she was now having - they were most likely one of the first couples to dance that night. At least, as far as Raven could tell.
"I must admit I am still surprised you came - others with much less of a reason to stay away are still at home, yet here you are."
ITS HARD TO KEEP THEM STRAIGHT, OK? ;o;
Tony couldn't help but chuckle at her comment. "Maybe so, but this is something I'm very good at," he said confidently, drawing her into a twirl out on the floor.
IT'S OKAY ILU ANYWAY
Raven felt much more at ease now after that, her confidence lifting up enough for her to speak clearly. "So I can see," her tone was filled with amusement just before she laughed softly again, "And here I thought this night would either result in disaster, or be somewhat of a drag."

"Oh it couldn't have been that bad without me," he said cheekily. He dipped her smoothly, before pulling her back, and resuming the dance.

"On the contrary, I at least know who you are. Most of those here are strangers to me. I mean --- I attempted to convince Spider-Man into coming so that I would know someone, however." she made a slight head-tilt motion at nothing in particular. "As you can see, I wasn't very successful. He has other things he must worry about. At least with you here, I feel more at ease."

"Peter is... concerned about things of late. I do not wish to bother him more than I already have." her words nearly trailed off at the end of her sentence.
no subject
"Of course he is," he said, his voice dropping into something of a bland overtone. "After all, the man who made his life a living hell showed up," he admitted, directing the self-deprication at himself. Not that he really minded being so universally disliked. He had done what he had to, and those who didn't accept it, didn't matter in the long run to him. They wouldn't help him out when the time came anyways.

"And here I had thought that I was alone in the running for that title," she raised an eyebrow up at him, briefly curious as to what he had been talking about, but deciding not to push such a topic. "What with my attempts to lure him into a relationship when he was already married. Giving myself some credit that I did not know, however I adequately made him uncomfortable."
She gave another light shrug, sighing softly, "C'est la vie."

"Trust me, I'm pretty sure if Tony Stark doesn't draw eyes and cause a few attacks, then Iron Man will," he added with a chuckle. He was infinitely glad that he hadn't seen his wayward armor yet. It gave him time, which was something he desperately needed to prepare. Not that he didn't have plans for the situation, of course.

She tried not to dwell on that as she nearly fumbled over the dance steps, however managing to catch herself properly and resume her graceful stature.
"Well I do not doubt that, however it seems everyone is in the spotlight for some sort of attack, regardless of the size." she allowed herself to draw a little closer to him, lowering the volume of her voice. "But perhaps you do have it a bit worse than us others - how have you been holding up in that regard?"
no subject
"No worse for wear," he said simply, a smirk curling across his face. "Things are certainly...terse in the mansion, but other than that, I can't complain," he said simply. He was living in a mansion with the man who he had inadvertently killed. There were far too many things wrong with that, but until he and Steve actually took the time to air out everything, it would remain that terse, uncomfortable situation. However, Tony could live with that. At least he hadn't been staying in the MAC.

The longer they danced, the more she became adjusted to the steps he was leading her in - she found herself no loner having to think about where she was stepping in order to keep up with him.
"Given that was the week of the attacks, I am sure you were quite busy, as the rest of us were."

Before, the suit he had used with his Extremis had been an experimental suit that had already been built. He had spent close to over a year on the mechanics, if not longer, and it was going to take quite a while to get it done. "I'm touched you worried about me," he said sincerely. If he had died here, he doubted that it would have made much impact, although he was quite certain that things were falling apart back home.

She furrowed her brow slightly though, despite how pleasant the conversation was going.
"Emotionally, though, taking only yourself into consideration... how are you holding up?" a brief pause, "That is what I truly worry about - I apologize if it is too forward."
no subject
Really, Tony wasn't one to actually discuss emotions, or really anything more than a need-to-know basis. It probably got him into far more trouble than it should.
no subject
"You must excuse me for asking, being one with empathic powers, emotions tend to take on an entirely new dimension of importance."

"Do let me know if something does come up? I am here to listen."
