For all that he hates waiting for anything, there were some things that Wally liked to take slow. Enjoying good company was one of them. Going on a walk through town. Enjoying life when there weren’t any disasters. As he walked through the city he wore a small smile, taking deep breaths of the polluted air and occasionally catching a whiff of flowers, or something cooking in a nearby restaurant. He stopped often for food. He didn’t have to eat as much when he hadn’t been running, but the hunger was always there.

He would need a job. There was no easy way around it. Even with an allowance and the apartment provided him by Stark Industries, his food bills were going to put a very large dent in his lifestyle. He kept an eye out for help wanted signs as he walked, for anything from food service to retail. What he really wanted was to get a job in the forensics lab like back home, but he imagined that was a whole lot easier said than done. Oh well. Times were hard and beggars couldn’t be choosers. He would have to make do.

Wally would make conversation everywhere he went, talking to cashiers and the homeless and even the occasional stranger waiting in line. As long as he kept the topic away from ImPorts and politics, he did alright. Otherwise, he was getting to be very good at making a polite escape.

Lucky for her he's no such thing. He's no stranger to Gotham.

"No kidding?" He laughs, surprised by the answer even though it explains so much. "Geez, no wonder you're so blasé about all this."

She arches a thick eyebrow, surprised by his reaction. "Where are you from, Wally?" She's certain if he was from Gotham she would have noticed something on the Network. After all, it's her job to keep an eye out for who's coming in from there.

"Central City, Kansas," he answers easily. It may not be as infamous as Gotham, but it's home. More than that, it's home to the Flash - that's more than enough to put it on the map.

my flash knowledge is non-existent :( googles everything

And where the Flash Museum is. She's never been but she knows enough about it. Maybe someday she'll have the chance to see it in person for herself.

"Seems like people from our world run into each other at some point." What are the odds, even in a city as big as this? It's too convenient.

*gasp* for shame! /shakes head sadly

"There sure are a lot of us," he agrees with another cheery smile. He has a lot of those.

"I guess it's an old favorite."

"I'm sure you've noticed by now the Porter's got a thing for Gotham." And all the problems that come from it-- but she doesn't say that aloud.

It becomes apparent if you take a good look around the Network, anyway.

you go right out to your comic store and buy a shitton of Flash comics, young lady!

"I hadn't actually," he has to confess. He knows Batman is here, but not Batgirl or Robin. Riddler too, but as far as Wally is concerned they're the only people from Gotham that would be recognized.

Could be a good thing, she thinks. The Gothamites aren't held in high regards by other imPorts. A little sad to think but can she blame them when the likes of Scarecrow, Calender Man, Two-Face, and the Joker have terrorized the public at large in the past?

She turns a corner. Just another couple of minutes and they'll be close.

"I don't get her fascination, personally."

just get the Wally backissues, DC doesn't make any new money on those

"Maybe she has a crush on Batman," he suggests jokingly. The thought of Batman in any sort of romantic capacity will always be hilarious to Wally. An insane robot seems like the perfect match, right?

Dick's been gone a while and she knows Wally doesn't mean him-- but she can't help but think of Dick anyway. She's let some of her frustrations go recently and Bucky dropping by did shake her out of her own stupor, but she does have to refrain from frowning.

"Heh... I don't think he's been back here in a while." Better for Gotham. Better for him.

"No?" He shrugs, a playful smile still on his face. "She must not have great aim, then." It's all in good fun, anyway. He wouldn't wish this situation on anyone, much less one of his allies from the League.

From the corner of her eyes she can now see her apartment. She nods in that direction. "It's right there. Once we're at the door I can manage by myself."

"If you say so." He doesn't want to intrude too much into her life. She may know his name, but he's still a stranger.

[gevurah]

When they're at the door she has to maneuver herself a bit to get the door open and she puts her foot out to keep it ajar. She looks back at Wally.

"Thanks for this, Wally. I'll be fine from here. I think my roommate should be home, so she'll get the door upstairs."

He offers her the groceries, sparing only a brief glance at the inside of the building.

"It's really no problem. Any time."
