Working with magic

WHO: Bight/Crucible
WHERE: Abandoned warehouses and around the city
WHEN: Between 26th and 30th of September
WARNINGS: None
SUMMARY: Bight spends time about the city and works on creating sample wards at an abandoned warehouse that he'd taken regular residence to.
FORMAT: player preference.

After his talk with one Rick Bradbury, Bight had seen to collecting a few needed materials before making his way to one of the abandoned warehouses he often used. Using the privacy to work on a number of small scale, portable wards for the demonstration he intended to give Bradbury and anyone else who happened to be present on the following Monday. He had already set up a simple ward around the warehouse itself, that would alert him to any approaching without alerting them to his presence.

He knew there were other imports and occasionally the homeless and gangs who liked to use the warehouses, he had made a note to scare any gangs in the area away from this particular series of warehouses. He wasn't one to shun company entirely however as he worked at the desk he had set up, boxes of seemingly random parts and goods carefully arranged around, along with a small number of bronze dragon scales he had carefully set beneath other parts to conceal them.

After a time of work, most nights he took to his true form and often took the chance to take a nightly swim and flight to stretch his wings before surveying the city from the rooftops, taking in the sights and sounds from on high. Occasionally keeping an eye out for any trouble on the streets that he could assist with. Spending most nights in this manner before returning to his warehouse to continue his work.

Kang didn't bother dropping his true form after leaving the D.O.I. benefit. It had been interesting, and he'd met a few new people, but it hadn't really been his sort of scene. Instead of heading back to his quarters, he chose to go to the park, enjoying the evening weather.

He didn't expect to find Crucible swimming in the lake, though.

He froze, unsure if he'd been seen, and debated turning around and quietly leaving if he hadn't.

Well. It'd look bad if he left now. Kang muttered a curse under his breath, pushed down his unease, and moved a little closer to the edge of the lake. He'd spent time with Crucible in human form before, but it was much more intimidating seeing him in his true form.

"Yes, it has."

"I've been practicing," Kang smiled wryly, crossing his arms over his chest. "Busy. I have a construction job, and night classes. Have you had any luck in finding a job?"

"Who better to guard it than a dragon lord?" Kang said, without a hint of animosity. Especially one as old and as powerful as Crucible. "They would have a hell of a time fitting you in there in your natural form. Will they be made aware of what you really are?"

Kang nodded, "And if they aren't pleased you hid such a secret from them? It's a risk, considering the myths about dragons many here grew up on, and Khisanth's presence. Speaking of her, I haven't heard anything from her in weeks."

"We're Imports. We're automatically a threat to a fair number of the natives, no matter what each of us has done individually, all because we have 'powers'," Kang said dryly.

"It could be either one."

Kang nodded. "Yes, we'll see." He hesitated for a moment before adding, "If there should be any trouble, you can refer them to me. Reassurances that you aren't a threat may mean more coming from someone like me."

Someone who had reason to hold a grudge. He could do that much, at least. He wouldn't lie about the nature of metallic dragons any more than he would his own nature.

"For now. She might come back."
