It was a beautiful city, green and lush. Morning mist locked fingers with older stone and quiet brick. Much of the populace lulled in the valley between two solid growths of mountains, cushioned in an ancient palm and electrified by the lively pulse of the crisp, rain-courted air. The temperature is brisk, chilly, but that shouldn't discourage you from enjoying the lakes and rivers breathing through the land. The city itself is equally crisp and its usually pristine avenues are ablaze with color; banners and posters and warm hellos. There was warmth everywhere, in homes and faces and hands.

[Even their week spent with their ages reversed hadn't changed the nature of their relationship that much.]

[ She's slightly surprised, having felt maybe Damian would have warmed to family by now. ]

Between you and me? [She nods.] Something happened with us while I was a child. I can't say what that change was exactly, but things are better.

[ Kate's movements cease entirely from then on. She arches an eyebrow. ]

You were affected then. [ A beat. ] Was Damian...?

Yes. So was he. [A faint smile passes over her for just a second.] If the man I met then is any indication of the man he will become, I am very proud to call him my brother.

[ Proud? She doubts Helena would use that word without careful thought. ]

Does he lose the temper, at least?

He managed to temper it when necessary. But Damian is still Damian. Some things never really change.

I'd like to believe it's a phase. [ Ah, well. ] Were you okay during that... week?

I was just fine. I'd hazard to say I couldn't have been better cared for if my own parents were the ones doing it.

I'm almost sorry I missed that. [ Call her curious; a grown up Damian Wayne. ]

Did you have your memories?

No. I only had my memories of my mother and father and home. It wasn't a very pleasant experience at first.

[ She nods. ]

Neither did I. I was lucky enough to have run into someone who still had hers.

That's a lucky break. Who did you end up staying with?

I ran into Felicia first. Nill was older... but she came by to get me.

I'm glad you were safe, Kate. [Slowly, Helena begins to sway to the music.] I don't know what I'd do without your friendship.

[ She pauses, both touched and confused by Helena's comment. ]

You're strong. [ Kate can sense it. ] You'd be fine.

[Helena smiles, but she isn't so sure. It's confusing, wanting to be alone but hating the actual loneliness of it.]

Well then. [She glances back to the spectators.] I'm parched. Would you care for something?

[ The topic change is natural enough, but Kate wonders if she touched on something there. Still, she lets it slide. ]

Are you offering to buy?

I sure am. Are you thirsty?

Very. [ She smirks. ] I could use the break from dancing.

[Helena's face finally brightens again, and she offers Kate her arm.]

Let's get a table, then.

[ She slips her arm around Helena's in bold movement and allows her to lead. ]

Checked out any of the local places yet?

[She keeps her pace leisurely as they push through the crowd.]

There's a market near the hotel that has a ton of fruits and fish. But aside from that, I've been sticking to the touristy places. What about you?

Some of the small shops, but not a lot of exploring done yet. Saw the lake not too far from here, though.

I wonder if you could swim in it.
