[She thought she was lucky. She hadn't gone to the masked ball, and as such, she figured she might not catch whatever virus had been released onto the partygoers. She felt okay most of Sunday, just a little dizzy before she fell asleep checking out flights out of the country on her phone.

When she woke up Monday morning, however, the situation had shifted dramatically. She felt like she could barely lift her head up, lifting her arms was a trial in and of itself. It was like her muscles had all atrophied over night, and when she was finally able to drag herself off the bed and to a mirror-- one leg dragging inelegantly behind the rest of her in an oddly terrifying shuffle, she was horrified by what she saw. Her face was gaunt, greenish grey, eyes sunken in and dead looking. She looked more corpse than living and breathing woman, and when she opened her mouth to scream, all that came out was a gurgling, gasping sound.

With every ounce of her strength, she threw open the door and stumbled into the hall of the hotel, grunting at the top of her lungs. The sound is rough and strangled]

I think I'm about to die!

[Kate has not time to react. She would, maybe if she wasn't so gravely ill. But right now, she can't even manage to duck properly. Nope. Right now, a severed arm is flying right at her face and slapping her right in the nose.

And in cue, Kate lets out a scream that is really more like a wounded animal than a person, and in her panic, she flops over and the fingers somehow tangles in her hair.]

Aaaaaaaaahhhhh!! Get it off! Get it off me!

[Rose picks it up. She has seen more gruesome things, after all, than a severed arm. She shakes it at Kanaya, screeching incoherently and with a tone that is borderline admonishing. Poor Kate, to get a face full of arm, she says. What on Earth is wrong with you?

She ends her tirade with launching the arm back at her. She aims for the ground this time and fumes.

There is little that is going to diffuse this situation, she realises. But Rose is just so angry. ]

[ kanaya hasn't the first idea what rose just said, she only knows that it's something she should probably be mad about. and she is! ]

Well fine! That's just fucking brilliant!

[ finally dragging herself to her feet, she storms her way to the door as effectively as she can manage, which is really more of a trudge, dragging one leg behind her. it makes the fury of her exit fall a little flat, and might be almost comical if every facet of this situation wasn't awful. ]

I know you don't really want me around anyway, then perhaps I should remove the offending element! [ she throws open the door and shambles to the other side. ] PERMANENTLY!

[ and she slams the door and is gone. ]

[Kate is still in shock, speechless at the horrific display she's just witnessed. Seriously though, what does one say to this?

Instead, she decides not to deal with this now. Maybe when she's less sick, more able to sit up, more able to speak. Maybe then she will yell some sense into the girls. But for now she'll just crawl back under the covers and groan dramatically.]

Make it stop. Make it all stop.
