WHO: ERIDAN AMPORA and ZATANNA ZATARA and THEIR VERY UNFORTUNATE GUESTS.
WHERE: a creepy ~~rose red~~ house on the edge of the city.
WHEN: 11/5.
WARNINGS: fakemurder. gore. trauma. misery. mystery!!!
SUMMARY: since eridan spent the entirety of halloween wweepin and eating stale sugar cookies in his basement leah, he and zee throw a belated halloween party!! BAD THINGS HAPPEN.
FORMAT: ANYTHING GOES.

[the house - it's more of a miniature mansion, really, and incredibly creepy - is just far enough from the city's limits to be quiet. sprawling, dark, and eerie; it's kind of like a cross between rose red and dracula's summer home, which is at least half of the reason why it was chosen. maybe two-thirds.

inside the decorations are done up in lush reds and the occasional streaks of violet; the kitchen is full of food and refreshments, the main hall is decked out, the music is pumping, and the hosts will no doubt be more than happy to tell everyone all about how they heard a rumor from a friend of a cousin of the realtor that like a quintuple murder totally happened in the attic or something (or one of them will, at least). rooms beyond the immediate party area (a host of ground level rooms and anything upstairs, basically) haven't exactly been blocked off, but they're also visibly not as touched up and may or may not be haunted.

well, there's a definite risk. the place is creepy as hell.

doors open at eight-thirty (just to spite vriska). get in there!!

They're not exactly made to land. Actually, they're not practical at all. It's a wonder I'm not dead. [ That, and he could modulate the pack with his life. ]

That's what I figured. [ Her hand lowers slowly, eventually joining its match and folding behind her back. ] My brother. He was something of a builder, I suppose you could say, but he always wanted to strap rockets on things to make them go faster, no matter how impractical it was.

Believe me, it's not a good idea. [ He jerked a thumb in the direction of the pack on his back with a twist of his lip that very surely said "ick". ]

Hopefully, he'd grow out of it. Rockets are fucking stupid.

I hope he will, but I wouldn't know. [ Lachesis. ] So why that get-up in the first place? Are you expecting to make a quick getaway?

Oh, ah. [ He rubbed at his jaw, working it gently, a definite look of chagrin on his face. ]

Zatanna didn't like my costume, and I guess she wanted to see my old one. It's not what I would've picked.

What was wrong with the one you were wearing? [ Pushing and dropping the subject of her brother out of sight, let's do that. ]

Well... [ He lifted a shoulder, his smile just a little guilty. ]

Apparently it reminded her of a friend back home, so she thought it would be better if she changed it.

[ It wasn't like he hadn't dressed up as Superman's secret identity or anything!! ]

[no of course not!!! ]

I suppose I can understand that. There's some guy here that's dressed like a friend of my dad; I had to check twice, that my eye wasn't playing tricks on me.

she even tilts her head indicatively towards the guy, wherever it is he's standing.]

[ He follows her gaze, before there's a tight grin. Ah.

What, Bradbury? You actually mistook my fucking bodyguard for Obi-Wan Kenobi? The real one?

[ His laugh was there, and natural, but more of a snort. He'd perfected making his expressions seem normal and human, but it was just as fake as ever. His guilt spiked, if Ruka could pick up on it, if only just for a moment, before he hardened himself again. ]

That's hilarious.

[luckily for Mitch, Ruka wasn't that kind of empath; she was well-trained in the art of masked and false expressions, and used them far more than genuine feelings, but the full depth of that moment slipped past without even a whisper.]

At first, a little. I just wasn't expecting to see anyone looking like that here.

[ He flexed a hand in his glove, making a face. ]

Yeah, I sure as fuck didn't think he had it in him to be much of a nerd, but I have a feeling that wasn't his choice either. I think Zatanna probably had something to do with that one as well.

Ugh, then I hope she doesn't decide she has a problem with mine. I don't even want to know what she'd put me in.

Probably something terrible, knowing her. Maybe a rabbit costume, like in that one movie.

[ Ruka would probably pull off the pink bunny suit better than Ralphie could though. ]

[ the visceral shudder, at least, is genuine.]

Ugh. Nobody's called me rabbit in years, I hardly need that to start up again.

Er, people called you rabbit? Come on, that's just rude.

[ There's a twist of his smile. }

You remember, don't you? [she gathers up her hair easily, holding it split in two loose pigtails, their bases just an inch to the outside of her eyebrows. they do look like floppy bunny ears.] Rabbit-girl, mostly, but there were others too. [she lets go, hair falling smoothly back into place]

[ Her shoulders inch a movement, almost like a shrug, but not quite putting forth the effort to commit to it. ]

It could be worse, I suppose. [Fucking Pigtails comes to mind...] Just, don't give Ms Zatanna any ideas.

Besides, she seems to mostly get ideas about me, so I have my own skin to worry about.

I'd think she wouldn't bother changing your costume twice...

That much? [There's a flick of her eye to the side, a little turn of her head, suspicious as hell that eavesdropping will occur -- but if there was something she wanted to say, she doesn't.] Sorry to hear that, then.

Well, you know. I could just tell her no, but it's easier to let her think she's getting some of her way, or else she'll be mad, and I know I sure as hell don't want to deal with her being mad.

[ Now it was his turn to shrug, if only a little. He couldn't do so much with the weight of a fucking jet pack strapped to his shoulders. ]
