It wasn't the welcome home he'd expected reviewing the comm earlier that day, but he couldn't help but be a little proud of Door for what she'd done, even as his hands had started to shake at the implication. He'd spent most of day in a blind panic, breaking into what was left of Near's office to try and access the computer.

The evidence he'd gathered was stored away on disks and tucked away in the pocket of his sweater. The talk with Selina had actually helped calm his down, despite them both being worked up over recent events. He'd never met Catwoman and a small, immature, and entirely male part of his mind couldn't help but pump his fist in joy at meeting the real Selina Kyle face to face.

(Maybe not face...)

He cleared his throat guiltily at the thought as he slipped into the jail, almost amused at the lack of guard and wondering how long it would be before this place was locked down and it'd be damn near impossible to get in and visit. He checked the computer to figure out where Door had been locked up, nearly misspelling her name in his haste. Block C.

He didn't bother to cover his tracks, exiting the screen, and walking as quickly as he could, ignoring the cut on his hand from where he'd had to break the glass to open the office door. The block was empty but for her and he slowed his steps, suddenly nervous.

"Uh... hey, how are you doing?" he scratched the back of his neck, offering her a lopsided smile as he stopped in front of the cell door.

(We're off to a good start.)

Door had been prepared not to see Phoenix for quite a while. It hurt; it had hurt when she made the decision, realized its implications, and it hurt now. She assumed that it would continue to hurt. She was well aware that she wouldn't be getting out of here anytime soon.

She'd been resting, her head against the wall, and thinking - something she'd had a lot of time to do in the cells, in between the odd visit - when she heard someone approaches, started, and sat forward, looking carefully through the bars. When she saw who it was, she let out a shout.

"Phoenix!"

Running to the door, she reached her hand through the bars and smiled at him, so wide her face hurt. "Phoenix . . . "

Grinning at him, she squeezed his hand, running her fingers along his cheek. "I missed you," she said quietly, trying not to think of exactly how much. She'd been trying not to think of how much for what seemed like ages.

All of a sudden she froze, glancing down the corridor, and looked back up at him accusingly. "Phoenix, the jail's closed," she said severely. "How did you get in here?"

And how are you planning to get me out?

Her expression shifted quickly into something much less pleasant. "Phoenix, that was very, very stupid," she snapped. "You can't just break in, no matter how much you - "

How much he missed her.

She didn't want him to hurt himself for her, no matter how fast he would heal. Sighing, she squeezed his uninjured hand in her own.

But that last bit - that was a surprise. Looking up at him quickly, her lips pressed together as she tried to remember what he'd taught her. "Wouldn't that be . . . " She bit the inside of her cheek, the words unfamiliar on her lips. "A conflict of interests?"
