[ from the corner of his eye, john sees them crossing the road and finds himself slowing down. he stops to look up at them from his communicator, the led light from the device illuminating the lower half of his face, before he loses sight of them as they fall into the shadows and stand around further down the street.
giving them one final look over his shoulder, he decides to put the device away into jacket pocket for safe keeping and starts to walk down the street again, albeit at an increased pace than before. once they see him begin to move away, two of hooded men disappear into the alleyway and the remaining man runs after john.
when the man reaches him, he taps john on the shoulder and turns him around with one large hand, flashing the doctor a toothy grin from underneath his hood. it's a smile that doesn't look entirely friendly and sends john's senses into overdrive. ]
