WHO: Bond, Hardy, Nygma and Zatara
WHERE: The most expensive Italian restaurant in town
WHEN: Backdated to Sunday 25th Nov
SUMMARY: A double date seemed like a funny idea at the time...
WARNINGS: Obnoxious jerks
FORMAT: Words
[The table had been booked days ago at one of the best restaurants this side of the City. Bond got them a table in a prime location, tucked away in a corner with good lighting and perfect visuals on every other pairing in the room. Naturally James and Zatanna had got there early, barely through the door before they were ordering the most expensive wine on the menu; a bitter red that they were almost immediately exclaiming their distaste to and yet drinking it anyway.
James made sure they got the two seats facing out to the restaurant, leaving the other two to have little more than their company to stare at when they arrived. Lucky them.
It had seemed like quite the prank at the time, suggesting a double date for the four of them. Something about the idea amused James enough to speak of it in the first place, and yet, like so many of his jokes, he hadn't thought much further ahead. When the offer had been accepted, he was left wondering just how much of a fuck up such a meeting could be, and yet the idea interested him enough to follow through. It had been years since he'd last been out with Felicia, after all, and when was the last time he and Edward really got to talk? And even though Zatanna and James had plenty of outings, it was rare for them to socialise with other couples like this. It was all very… adult.
And adult is sadly not something these two are entirely used to, judging by the childish scoff that escapes Bond whenever the two of them start gossiping about nearby tables. One can only hope the night sobers up when the other two arrive...]

But, really. Hey. She has nowhere else to be tonight and the crazy people were all at home waiting for midnight to hit so they can get started on Cyber Monday deals. Zee also didn't hate Nygma and she found his girlfriend to be cute and charming. You know, just like she was!
She sits comfortably in a little black dress that fits like a glove, occasionally shifting to play a little bit of footsy with her respective date. They better get here soon. When Zee gets bored and has booze, she gets loaded. And when she gets loaded, she gets handsy...]
What time were they supposed to be here, again?

She also isn't really one for "fashionably late," although she adheres to her timetable and her timetable only. When they arrive she's in something black and white, attractive but not ostentatiously attention-grabbing. ]
Nice place. [ The restaurant, of course. ] Highly recommended, I take it?

That’s what he felt like, anyway, regardless of the reality between his melodramatic narrative and actual facts.]
Felicia -- [he said. His fingers pressed against her harder as he labored a dramatic sigh.] Next time tell me more than an hour in advance, won’t you?
[]In truth, he had been given ample forewarning – but that hardly lent itself to theatrics. And such was how Eddie wanted to express himself this evening: theatrically. Black suit, screaming green tie, and a lovely woman on his arm (or at his fingertips, to be accurate in the moment), that was his look as he descended upon the reserved and occupied table for four.]
Zatanna, don't you look darling? [A beat.] Bond.

When their company arrives, he'll admit they make quite the entrance, enough to have the corners of Bond's lips tugging upwards into smirk that edges towards smugness.
He stands as they get to the table, an antiquated notion, but a gesture of politeness nevertheless.]
The highest recommendations. [He assures, that smirk never wavering.]
Felicia, darling, you look gorgeous. [The charm comes out thick, but by the time he's glancing towards Edward, it's already gone.] Black suits you, Edward. Come, sit down. [He takes his own cue to sweep back into his chair and purposefully moves his hand to Zee's thigh. Happy couple.]

How very kind of you to say, Edward. The two of you make quite the dashing couple and -- [While she can rub elbows with the rich and infamous, she still doesn't feel the need to avoid language that's less peppered with humor.] -- I dig the tie. Technically chartreuse, right?
[She sits down before James does and crosses her legs. Just a quick reminder to keep it PG-13. And, to he of the Riddles again:] I hope this didn't catch you on short notice like it did me. I had to switch my schedule a touch to slip this in and I know you're busier than I am.

[ She brushes her hair over her shoulder, glancing at Zatanna and Bond, smirk still in place. It was strange already to her, somehow, like the two couples were in some way parallel. ]
It would be a shame to miss out on our first double-date. You two do seem so charming.

I'm fond of the range. I find chartreuse a rather violent color, and -- [A quick glance at Bond.] I'm in violent mood. But! Zatanna, my dear, worry not. I can always make time for you.
[Somehow the you spoken didn't seem to involve the magician's date. When Edward assumed his seat (next to Felicia), he showed a little too much teeth to James.]
Has the waiter already tried to guess your drink?

And of course, we'd only pick the best for our Deputy Mayor. [James, in return for the eye roll, does a rather good job of ignoring Eddie's little quips, making a point of turning his gaze to Zatanna with a adoring (and amused) stare and blanking his company altogether, until he answers that final question with a distracted:] Hm? Oh, no, we'd already ordered. [He sweeps a hand towards the ridiculously expensive bottle of red before them, purposefully avoiding that ridiculous notion of 'his' drink.]
