[She'd been waiting for him to come, ever since he'd popped back up on the Network again. Once he had her name and had heard her claims, it was only a matter of time before he made the rounds and showed up in her office. She'd left specific instructions with her secretary for his arrival. He was to be greeted, offered coffee and a magazine, and she was to be informed immediately. She intended to drop everything the second he showed up, no matter that there was plenty of work she should be catching up on. Family was more important than business, and it always would be.
As it is now, she's sitting in her office, gazing out the window at the city streets and buildings below, mind wandering to thoughts of Gotham and the version of Dick Grayson she knew and loved, as a brother and possibly as something more. She hadn't allowed those thoughts into her head in quite some time, and now certainly wasn't the moment to be dealing with them. She could sort all of that out later, once she'd convinced him that she was who she claimed to be and that she meant him absolutely no harm.
Also, he had to show up first. That would be nice.]

eppy's choice is predictable.
add that to the pile of weird things that had happened since he showed up here. dick wasn't certain how the chickens had managed to be the least complicated facet of his arrival. the hours he'd spent wrangling them all into the bathroom had been a welcome distraction, truth be told.
it hadn't taken much digging to find wayne enterprises, and that helena was in charge of it. dick skims the majority of it, before stashing the comm in his pocket and just heading to the source. which had seemed like a great idea until he was meandering in the lobby and the secretary was staring at him as if she were judging his entire life. which she probably was, come to think of it.
yes, just one more awkward thing to add to the list. ]
best choice tbh
daydreamingcritical thinking by the buzzing from her secretary, letting her know that her expected visitor has finally made his appearance.Welp. This is it. This is her chance to make a good impression on the boy who was nearly the man she'd grown up adoring and loved her entire life. She frowns smoothing out the wrinkles in her skirt, trying once again to stop obsessing and try to relax.
Why were things so complicated here? Why couldn't her Dick Grayson just show up in the Robin costume and set everything right again? Oh, that would be so easy!]
Hello, Dick.
[She stands in the doorway, lips pursed in a neat smile, rather imposing and over six feet tall in her high heels. Blue eyes narrow as she takes him in, and the urge to frown again is suspiciously high. He seems so young, so... short. It still isn't right, but if this is what Lachesis saw fit to give her, she'll just have to work with it.]
You put that detective mind to work, it seems.
i try
she looks so much like bruce that it's...well, it derails dick's train of thought while he deals with it. ]
It didn't take much. This place isn't really a secret.
[ it's just. well, it's weird. but nothing about this place wasn't, so that's par for the course, at least. ]
no subject
[She smiles, stepping aside from the door, gesturing that he should join her in her office suite.]
Won't you come in? I'd be a bit more comfortable away from prying eyes and ears.
[She glances at her secretary, who is trying to look busy with some paperwork while covertly staring at Dick.]
no subject
Yeah. Let's go in.
[ this would probably be less uncomfortable if she didn't look like bruce's spitting image. on some level it feels like getting called on the carpet, even if that's not what this is at all. ]
no subject
Anyways, she holds the door for Dick and lets it fall shut behind them once they're in her office. It was his office before she took over, not that he'd know that or remember. She hasn't really changed much about it, just tidied it up. She's been waiting for him to come back and take over again, she wouldn't want to mess up his office. But now... welp. That's probably not going to happen now.]
Make yourself at home. Please.
[She gestures to one of the chairs, clearing her throat nervously. If only she'd inherited her parents' charisma, maybe she wouldn't feel like such a nervous wreck right now. What is she even supposed to say?]
You probably have a lot of questions.
no subject
I do, actually.
[ there's a quiet, depreciating laugh. ]
I probably should have written them all down, come to think of it.
[ because really, where do you begin in a situation like this? ]
How long have I been gone? Was I here recently?
no subject
[She's not counting other versions of the fambly, just the ones here now.]
I'm really hoping someone explained how the Porter works to you, how it grabs people from random points in time, from random universes and puts them here in this world. If not, I think I just gave you the world's worst synopsis of why we're all here.
no subject
[ dick resists the urge to pinch the bridge of his nose, to sigh in frustration because this isn't as bad as it seems, it really isn't except for the part where it kind of is. ]
I'm just trying to play catch up. Seems like I'm missing a lot of pieces.
[ his prolonged freak out about the cowl nonwithstanding, there's a bunch of people here who apparently know him. it's unsettling. ]
I knew you at home. You're not...you're different.
no subject
[She frowns, sliding into one of the chairs.]
She and I aren't the same person, first names notwithstanding.
no subject
[ what an understatement. dick isn't going to enlighten her on just how different she and her counterpart were. there's probably no good way to have that conversation. ]
I'm not going to let my preconceived notions about her color my impression of you.
no subject
[Helena folded her hands neatly in her lap, adopting a more serious, Bruce-like expression as she studied him intently.]
When you were in this world before, you were in charge of Wayne Enterprises. When you left, you left me in charge of the company and Damian inherited your personal property. [A beat.] You have spoken with Damian, haven't you? He's our brother-- Bruce's biological son from your world.
