[The field is huge, without cover, and blanketed in snow. To anyone passing by before ten in the morning, it looks serene and beautiful. But as soon as the clock strikes that special hour, two imports with something to prove take to the field to shake hands and wish each other the best. In what?

Snow war.

Pick your side or make your own side, take prisoners or show no mercy; this is more or less a free-for-all. Who will be victorious? Nobody has a clue. As long as Damian gets whapped in the face by at least one snowball, everything will end up just fine.

[She blinks at him in surprise before letting out a small laugh, shaking her head.]

No, no! Of course not. I'm completely neutral in this so any information I might hold is mine to keep. No one gets it from me.

Do you promise to keep it secret? [Calvin sets aside his drink and leans forward, furrowing his face intensely.] Can you stand up under torture? They might shove snow down the back of your neck!

[Jade nods and leans in a little closer.] Of course! That's my duty as a neutral party. Nothing is to get past my lips no matter what.

[Calvin hesitates, but can't resist the chance to show off his fort.] All right, I guess I'll trust you. Take a look at this!

[He holds up his communicator and starts replaying the video he took of his fort at various stages of construction. It shows the enormous snow citadel from multiple angles, including overhead- Calvin flew above it to get some shots of the layout.]

Pretty good, huh? See, there's the command bunker, there's the front gate with the icicles, and there's the ammunition reserve. The moat's hidden, but it's there too.

[To say Jade is impressed is an understatement.]

That's amazing! Did you build it all on your own?

You bet I did! Made all the blueprints by myself too. Ordinarily it would have been hard, but the Snow Demons gave me a lot of material and the Porter gave me stupendous strength to work with.

[dogwitch]

[Her impressed expression turns to one of confusion after a moment.]

Snow Demons?

You know, the Snow Demons! The great and awful deities who decide whether we get good snow like today or wimpy weather and green Christmases.

Ooooh. That makes sense then. Is there any way to make sure we get a great snow day?

[Wait someone is actually listening to him about the snow demons? This is great!]

Yeah, but you have to do it in Fall. They accept burnt offerings of big leaf piles.

[dogwitch]

[She curious and it's obvious Calvin has quite the imagination. So why not listen?]

How big do the leaf piles have to be?

The bigger the better, essentially. There's no mathematical formula for it, but the Demons like it when they get big sacrifices.
