Cause there's dirt on my skirt and pebbles stuck in my toes.
WHO: ROSE LALONDE and DAVESPRITE
WHERE: kidhaus
WHEN: FEN 19TH at midnight.
WARNINGS: lmfao feelings
SUMMARY: Rose and Davesprite meet at midnight and raid the fridge and chat.
FORMAT: Quick 2 start then whateves.
[The fridge is unsurprisingly almost-empty when Rose opens it. She takes out a carton of yoghurt and thinks: I have to go grocery shopping and then I hope this yoghurt is in date?
She's going to eat it anyway.
There's barely any light in the kitchen. Rose is tempted just to sit on the floor and eat her yoghurt rather than make the arduous trek back to her room. She sits on the ground (it's cold against her butt, but bearable) and dives into the yoghurt. Not being able to sleep sucks. The midnight munchies suck even harder. ]

Then again, it may have also had something to do with avoiding certain people since certain events had happened, but that was beside the point currently.
There's no way to hide his orange glow when he moves down the hall -- he tries to make sure nobody wakes up when he passes by their room by throwing the occasional shirt or towel down in front of the door frame after pulling them off his shoulders. Its not really a big deal, this awkward schedule of moving around. Davesprite never slept well anyway.
His sunglasses are off, when he rounds the corner. Its hard enough to see in the dark without them in the way, so Rose will enjoy the full expression of surprise when he sees her sitting on the floor in the kitchen eating yogurt.
Awkward. He throws a towel at her to wipe up whatever yogurt doesn't make it to her mouth.]
Don't leave evidence of the late night outting. I ain't dousing any rumors tomorrow morning.

[She dabs her mouth anyway. She squints at him in the dark; he is a little too bright for this time of night. (His spirograph is around her neck; looking at him, now, it feels like it's burning. Maybe she feels a little guilty about it.)
She gulps down another spoonfull. ]
Can't sleep?
no subject
Hungry, that's all.
[Which is, of course, code for "No, can't sleep." Its pretty easy for him to hop up on the counter and peer around the door to search for a box of stale cheez-its]
You?
no subject
["No, I can't either." ]
I don't think he is actually asleep. He is probably doing it to be obnoxious because I vacuumed his room.
[This isn't awkward at all. She swallows down another spoonful. ]
no subject
[Eventually he finds the box, shakes it to make sure there's stuff inside, and then sits back on the counter to munch, hiding behind it so the only thing totally visible is his tail which hangs off the edge and sways of its own accord.]
Its a sacred place.
no subject
[She's seem some stuff, dude. She's seen some stuff.
She slurps a huge mouthful of yoghurt. She wonders if she is imagining the awkward tension in the air between them. She wonders if Davesprite is mad at her for being so meddlesome. She wishes she had something sugary. ]
I boiled your underwear, you know.
no subject
I guess I'll know what to expect when I can't get them over my junk. I'll know not to get excited.
[He leans back around the counter to look at Rose.]
Why were you even in there? My room, I mean.
no subject
[It's half true. ]
Instead all I found were your boxers and a pizza box.
no subject
After the events the week prior, Rose was dangerously close to being someone who knew an absurd amount about him. Too much for Davesprite to be entirely comfortable with. He remembered everything -- the interactions between his alternate selves.]
...I don't keep much around anywhere.
no subject
[She won't mention it if he doesn't.
Another stretch of silence passes before Rose sighs, glancing at the fridge. ]
I almost considered getting you one of those baby leashes.
no subject
[Its said in passing, more of a joke, though with his usual flavor of deadpan it likely comes out more malicious than he means for it to. He had screwed up his friendship with John that way.]
no subject
For a second, she thinks she has ruined everything between them. Between herself and Davesprite, between herself and John.
She sighs. ]
You can have it back. I think -- Kanaya worked hard, to bring you home. But it's no good if I'm keeping you here against your will.
no subject
He can hear the disappointment in her tone. Its depressing.
He continues to say nothing. If she's looking back at him, she might notice him leaning heavily on a bend in his tail. There was no easy way to answer her.]
no subject
She toys with the spirograph between her thumb and forefinger and glances at him. It isn't that she's disappointed -- she would say as much, if he asked.
Rose lifts it up and over her head. She gets to her feet afterwards and holds her hand out.]
It's yours.
no subject
His wings ruffle uncomfortably.]
So...are you mad at me too?
[It comes out before he even realizes it, but he has to know who's in the "we hate Davesprite" corner before he accepts the necklace.]
no subject
I'm not mad at you.
[She isn't sure she really wants to have this conversation in the kitchen. ]
You ... You worried me.
no subject
[Davesprite doesn't seem to care about having this conversation in the kitchen. Everyone is asleep except them. At least he hopes so.
In truth, he doesn't really want to have the conversation at all, but its been bothering him for a good week at least.]
There was never anything to worry about.
no subject
[She is a little upset. Not angry, just unbelievable frustrated. Dave(s) can be so stupid sometimes. ]
You had the world's most ridiculous argument with John and then you just left.
no subject
Seemed like the right thing to do, at the time.
[Its a genuine answer.]
And I guess maybe I got tired of it.
no subject
no subject
[aka: I don't want to talk about it.]
no subject
The frustration is endless. She has a lot she wants to say. There are so many things on the tip of her tongue: of course it matters! and stop acting as though no-one understands you!
What she says, instead, is this: ]
Suck it up.
no subject
The silence hangs as he works himself up for the admission.]
I got tired of John treating me like I was a stranger. [Pause. No, that wasn't it entirely. He tries again.] Like I wasn't a person.
no subject
She rubs a temple. All she wanted was to eat some yoghurt. ]
I assume he has denied doing this?

[Davesprite shrugs in response. "Suck it up". She was probably right. He closes the box of cheez-its and sets it aside, glancing back at the spirograph being offered to him. His expression has evened out again.
This is getting too personal too quickly. He takes one of the cheez-its out of his hands and flicks it into Rose's hair before reaching to take the spirograph from her. If nothing else, it would be nice to be able to fit through doorways a little easier.]
Its a damn good thing nobody is allergic to feathers around here. Unless you count the cats.
[That cat repellent was the best thing that ever happened to him.]
no subject
I do keep finding your feathers in the strangest of places, you know.
no subject
[He slips the spirograph over his head and there's a brief flash of light before Dave is hopping off the counter and back onto his feet, sliding his hands comfortably in his pockets. He blinks a few times, way too much to be normal as he tries to readjust his eyes. It proves to be very difficult for him without the orange glow.]
Won't have to worry about that anymore. Hopefully.
no subject
[yeah buddy like she's forgotten. ]
