where is your boy tonight?
WHO: charlie gage-radcliffe and terry ward.
WHERE: the carrier.
WHEN: the weekend.
WARNINGS: awk teen times.
SUMMARY: what is with terry ward and redheads anyway.
FORMAT: quicklog.
[ all he can think about beforehand is how much he hates his haircut. not because it's a bad haircut -- and at least this time, his friends hadn't taken advantage of him being a corpse to give him a trim -- but it's too short to hide behind now. he feels like his face is ten times too exposed. he keeps self-consciously running his fingers through it, as if that'll help make it grow back faster, but eventually he has to give up, because he's pretty sure kanaya will have his head at least once if he shows up late.
deep breath, then he calls up a door, stepping into the portal of light and reappearing outside charlie's door. he pauses before knocking, wondering if it's too late to back out now -- not because of charlie, but because he sucks so hard at this whole type of thing, and because he just knows he's going to mess this up somehow -- before finally lifting his hand and rapping his knuckles on the door. ]

[Charlie calls out from inside, where she's in the process of stuffing things into her little blue purse. Once it's got what she needs, she starts to head over to the door, but pauses by the mirror in the hallway, considering her reflection. She reaches up to brush a few errant strands of red hair out of her face and back behind her ear...honestly, she looks so different from usual she's actually a bit startled.]
[Kanaya had been over earlier in the afternoon to 'fix her up' for her date with Terry, her half of the bargain where Charlie tried to get Leo to go on a date with Roxy. That had actually resulted in an impromptu trip to the mall, where Charlie had wound up with a sleeveless robins-egg blue top, with a straight neckline (a bit lower than Charlie was used to wearing honestly), and a long, swishy black skirt with silver trip and a slit up the side to make it easier to walk.]
[Not that walking was going to be thrilling, in the silver sandals Kanaya had also insisted she buy, along with several other pairs of shoes, since apparently two pairs of sneakers weren't 'enough' footwear for a teenage girl. She is even wearing make-up, a bit of lipstick and eye shadow, and some blush, though not enough to hide her freckles.]
[She feels silly, but she also thinks she looks rather pretty, in a way. Which made the fact that she was feeling nervous stupid, because why should she be? It was a silly 'won in an auction' date anyway, it didn't mean anything right? Even if it was SPACE! And Terry was...sort of cute, in a dark kind of way. So she has to stop being nervous, and she pauses before she sucks in another breath, counts to five, and then heads over to the door, tugging it open and heading outside without giving herself time to do anything else.]
Hey! [She smiles as she closes the door behind her.]

he isn't sure what he's expecting when she opens the door, but somewhere between her clothes and her big smile, he manages to look surprised for a good second and a half. ]
...Hi.
[ eloquent, terry. very. awkwardly, he clears his throat, casually glancing down at his own shoes. ]
Uh. You look nice.
[ better. slightly. ]
no subject
Uh. Thank you. [A beat.] I like your haircut.
[She did, although she had thought his hair was cool before too so...right. Anyway. Stop feeling like a dork, Charlie.]
So...we should probably go?
no subject
Yeah. So. Hands and feed inside the portal at all times, I guess.
[ it's an excuse to look away when he turns around to face the hall, the nearest convenient empty space. he says something under his breath that sounds like the word "door," and on command, a rectangular portal of golden light opens up. he moves towards it, glancing over his shoulder. ]
Come on.
no subject
Oh that is awesome!
[She squeezes around the door to the side to peer at the back, then squeezes back, a grin plastered on her face.]
And you can just use these whenever you want? This is so cool! Can they take you anywhere?
[She is a teleporter, all other teleporting gets her attention.]
no subject
Well, yeah. I guess. Jenny says they go anywhere. I'd rather not experiment when the inside of a volcano or anything, so I take her word for it.
[ a little exhale. then he reaches and loosely catches her wrist, pulling her along so she'll stay close when he steps into the golden light. it's blinding for a second, and then they emerge on the other side into what looks like a long metal corridor, with windows all along the side, stretching from the floor to the ceiling.
one look outside says they're in space, because that big blue sphere outside is most definitely earth. ]

[She falls back into line when he catches her wrist, glancing down at his hand for a moment and then holding her breath when they step through the door. She almost misses a step on the other side, and frowns a little.]
It's pinker when I do it. And that was weird. I...
[Whatever else she might have said is cut off as she notices the windows, and she tugs away from Terry to hurry over, peering out at the planet and the stars.]
...Wow.
no subject
he tries not to dwell on it. ]
Yeah. It's pretty nice, I guess.
[ a lackluster response, maybe. not that an extraterrestrial view of the entire planet really needs any supplementation. ]
Apparently Jenny just thought up the whole place with her head.
no subject
What, you mean like, 'bam' suddenly there's a space station ship thing?
[She hadn't given a lot of thought to where the carrier came from but...it did sort of make sense, in a way. It wasn't as though anyone could build something like that.]
no subject
Yeah, sure. She alters reality, so. [ she's also an international terrorist. but it's probably not kosher to mention your dictator wannabe friends when you're on any kind of date. ] Yeah.
[ he hesitates. he really should have planned this out better, but... ]
There's a kitchen. If you're hungry, or whatever.

[Then again she was a magic teleporter and they'd just gone through a door in nothing so maybe crazy was a matter of perspective. She grinned and came back over to him, hooking her arm through his with a faint look of embarrassment.]
Food would be great! What else is up here? There's thousands of people living up here right? It must be like a whole city.
