[A little over a month ago Kai took a challenge from Kamui, which was to get a job before the other could. Kai took a leisurely pace though, he wasn't too worried about Kamui getting a job before him at all. The kid could hardly speak correctly, so really it would be some kind of miracle if he could get a job. Still, since he began rooming with Ren, Kai's wallet has been... a bit empty...

For a few weeks he's been sending in applications, and he was finally called back for an interview at a little cafe down the street. He woke up early this morning and dressed very nicely (he's wearing a suit) before walking over there. He was a bit early (about 3 hours early wow Kai), so he decided to order a coffee and a danish for breakfast while waiting.

[hell yes she does. whether it be her natural friendliness or her unconscious gravitation towards jerks, Nepeta can't help but notice the guy in a suit sitting by himself as she trots from the counter with her own cup of tea and pastry. she winds her way over to where he's sitting, smiling a little teasingly as she stops next to his table]

You're dressed up purretty fancy fur breakfast. Is it really that good?

[At the sound of someone talking, he quietly hopes they weren't talking to him. Though he looks up just in case, and much to his dismay, there was indeed someone talking to him. So, he sets his cup of coffee on the table in front of him, and folds his arms over his chest.]

I have a job interview here in a few hours.

Oh, really? Good luck! [she sets her items down on the table and pulls up a chair, heedless of whether or not he actually wants here there. standing around talking to someone who's sitting is more than a little silly]

I've nefur been on an interview befur, so I didn't know that you had to look supurr purresentable even fur a little purrlace like this. That's kind of neat!

[Oh okay so he gets to have some company this morning. Not really what he wanted but he'll roll with it.]

You should always look your best when you're being interviewed for a job, even for a small place like this.

Why? If you can't do the job then it doesn't really matter how purretty you look.

If you can't do the job you shouldn't apply for it. [Simple as that.]

Anyway, if you go to an interview dressed sloppily or too casually, they will think you're not serious about the job and you'll have a lower chance of getting it.

That's purretty silly. It's not like your clothes make you any better at doing something; shouldn't they be focusing on getting the best pawsible purrson?

[He gives a little bit of a shrug and picks his cup up to take a sip.]

People will always have a reason for the things they do, but the reason isn't always something everyone agrees with.

I don't need to tell you something like that. [Sorry but that's a little too personal for someone he just met. ~~hint he's spending it all on dumb friends who can't save their own money~~]

[she laughs a little before reaching for her tea]

[He doesn't answer, just simply starts to nibble on his danish.]

[she doesn't mind too much. Nepeta keeps talking as she piles an absurd amount of sugar into her cup, ostensibly to herself but very obviously loud enough for Kai to hear as well]

Like, hmm...oh, I know! He's purrobably a world-renowned expurrlorer searching fur lost cities and magic relics and needs more money to finance his really expensive digs.

[she looks up at him briefly, eyes squinting in an overdramatic appraisal]

Or purrhaps he's just a tomb robber.

[He slightly raises an eyebrow. Those are pretty wild speculations there, Nepeta.]

[hey, she's got nothing to go on but her wild imagination and his stoic appearance. it's a bad combination]

Oooh, defurnitely! He's an infamous tomb robber who's been causing trouble fur all kinds of purrlaces by running off with all their most purecious artifacts, and now he's running out of money beclaws he can't sell any of them yet.

I'm a high school student, I don't have time for that. [Does he really look like he could be a tomb robber...]

That's purrobably why you're losing so much money, then!

Ohhh. [she nods knowingly, mirroring his action by drinking from her own cup]

Don't try and overwork yourself fur them, though! That'll just make efurything more diffurcult fur efuryone.

I'm not going to overwork myself. [They're both trying to get jobs themselves so after a while he won't need to take care of them.. hopefully...]

That's good! I've got furiends who do that all the time and it's supurr annoying to deal with.

...They need help, if they're overworking themselves all the time. [He crosses his arms over his chest again.]

Tell me about it. [she grimaces] Sometimes I feel like it's impawsible, though, since they keep doing it even after I tell them how stupid it is!

...If they won't stop by themselves, try lifting some weight off their shoulders instead.

I can only do so much when most of the purroblems don't really involve me.

Then it's up to them to solve their own problems.

...some encouragement from their friends would help, I'm guessing. [Suddenly Kai is a problem solver ok]

I'm doing that, at least! And trying to make sure that they get enough sleep. [she giggles] I've got a purretty good amount of experience when it comes to dealing with stubborn people.
