SUMMARY: The world's most awkward date: part two.

Xanatos looked over the menu, smiling slightly at Cyd. Well, this was already slightly awkward. He knew that Cyd wasn't looking forward to this (as shown by her drunken ramblings to him at the end of the date auction). Still, he was hoping that the date would end up slightly well.

"So, have you decided what you want to order?" Xanatos asked, looking at Cyd, with a smile on his face.

Xanatos paused for a moment, not really sure what to say about that. How did one reply to such an out of the blue statement like that?

"Well that makes sense. After all, with commercials, you're selling a product. People would want their product to look as good as possible." He shrugged it off, watching Cyd as he talked.

"I used to do social media for a restaurant back home." Another non sequitur, or is she actually going somewhere with this? "And — the thing is, you never know! We did this promotional video and it was... awful. To put it politely. But I guess it was so bad it circled back to being good again because we got a lot of business out of it. Even if it was just people wanting to see my friend in his dumb pirate costume."

Finally, he gets a genuine laugh out of her! Maybe this night won't be such a disaster after all. Although... "Hey, wait. That reminds me. Where's our waiter?"

He paused for a moment, listening as the seemingly non sequitur turned into an actual story-and, shock and surprise, an actual story that he wanted to hear more about. He chuckled slightly, shaking his head. As she asked about the waiter, Xanatos looked over, caught the waiter's eye from across the room, and he motioned for the waiter to come towards their table.

While the waiter walked over, he turned back towards Cyd. "As for your story, now I'm curious. I assume it was a promotional video for a themed restaurant, hence the pirate costume?"
