You're just as I presumed
WHO: Kirei Kotomine and Lancer
WHERE: The church
WHEN: Shortly after Archer's demise.
WARNINGS: People die when they are killed.
SUMMARY: Lancer is none too pleased that his master used a command spell to force his hand.
FORMAT: The most agile of servants can make the most quick of quick logs
[ Kirei did not make his command lightly.
He knew Lancer would revolt, in one manner or another. Honor and pride would demand the man take some accountability, but he would come blame his Master for his trespass. Kirei could sense his approach, already very aware of the things he would have to say, so he waited: settled in the back room of the church.
Before him was a bottle of wine, and he had poured two glasses. ]

Sure, he could have simply phased through the walls to get to him, but that just didn't have the same effect.]
KOOOOTOOOOOMIIIINEEEEEEEEEEE!
[His voiced echoed through the still church like a roar, drowning out the whine of twisting metal as doors were ripped from their hinges --Ever closer.]

Kirei narrows his eyes at the sound of his Servant charging his way through the church.
That will cause quite the set-back come next mass. ]

Eyes glowing faintly, Lancer fixes Kirei with a glare so hot it could strip bark. However, his glance flicks to the door as it creaked back towards him, not quite off its hinges.
With a sudden jerk of his arm, his punch sends it tumbling across the sanctuary.
Seemingly satisfied, the warrior in blue marched right up to the small table and slammed his hands down on it --almost spilling the beverages Kirei had so thoughtfully left out.]
You SON of a BITCH!
no subject
I was going to offer you a drink.
[ Kirei sips his own, then continues, blandly: ]
Is there any door in the church left on its hinges? Or will the kind people of this City have to worship with a draft?

[Several fairly graphic ideas of what to do with the wine bottle sitting close at flash through Lancer's mind, but the memory of the gaes is enough to stall his impotent rage at least a little.
Instead he picks up the glass offered to him and chucks it at Kirei's face --Or more accurate, a few inches to the right of his face and against the back of his chair.
He can't hurt the man, but if on the slim chance he gets nicked by a shard of glass? Why, it wasn't his intention to hurt him was it?]
What the hell were you thinking?!

Is defending my charge a joke? [ Kirei peers at Lancer over his wine, a brow arched. ] You have seen what that Servant is capable of, and he did not even show an ounce of regret or penance for his trespass.
That I could not allow.

[Flashing out in the blink of an eye he snags Kirei by the collar and yanks him forward till their faces are inches apart as he desperately screamed in the audacious priest's face.
If only to drown out Kirei's words. Despite his best efforts, Kirei's words worked their way in and burned through his body like poison... As much as he wanted to deny it, Kirei had a point.
Lancer did know exactly who and what Archer was. And he knew how time and time again he would fail Rin, hurt her and abandon her. Any true guardian would have done the same.
Hell, he was contemplating doing it himself. But there was one simple detail about this that was tearing apart his insides. Something, no matter what the situation he could not just accept.]
I KILLED HER LOVER YOU SON OF A BITCH!
no subject
[ The forcefulness caused Kirei to spill his wine, and despite the volume of Lancer's voice, Kirei's expression remains still.
He remembers their agreement: Lancer cannot harm him. He wonders if the Servant regrets that bond now. ]
Remember what I told you: death is not permanent here. In honestly, it is little more than a slap on the wrist. However, a statement had to be made or that Servant would continue to be aligned with Rin, and cause her grief.
He could not be called her lover, there is no love in that man to begin with.
You said it yourself: you know what kind of man he is. Were you going to remain content with their arrangement? Are you going to judge me for having the nerve to do what needed to be done, Hound of Ulster? I will take blame for that readily, but can you truly say you would not have done the same, even if I had not guaranteed the outcome myself?
[ Kirei lays his hand on Lancer's arm. ]
Release me.
Or just a ship
Strangely enough, Kirei just lifted a huge weight off Lancer's shoulders.
But still... The action, and more importantly, the principle of the matter was that Kirei used and dishonored him. Honestly, did he expect anything else from this worm of a man?
Actually... in a sad, strange way, Lancer realized he had. Being younger may not have been just a cosmetic thing. For a little bit there Lancer was hoping that maybe he had caught the mad priest before his turn to the dark side. But that was starting to look like a fantasy.
And a foolish one at that.
For effect, he held Kirei for a few moments longer before dropping him back with a scoff. Now that they were free, Lance sets them on his hips and casts the priest a reserved, but disgusted look. Although he couldn't help himself, outbursts like this would only serve to make this situation worse.]
You went too far. [He says this calmly.] I agree that Archer was a pain, and a problem that needed to be nipped in the bud. I can even tolerate your motivation as a Rin' Guardian. However, I agreed to this union with the understanding that this was a partnership. As the grail is no longer in the equation, I had no incentive to continue this arrangement other than mutual benefit. Being used and coerced is not what I had in mind. In doing so, you took the joy out of my combat and sullied my honor.
To be quite honest, if it wasn't for Rin, you'd be dead right now for what you did.

[ Kirei raises a brow at Lancer as he sets his now empty glass aside. He is not bothered by being handled so roughly; he can deal with such acts of insubordination without any worry. Lancer does not intimidate him.
However, Lancer does make him curious. ]
Tell me something, Lancer. You agreed to this union, and why? You claim to have known me, in the future that I have yet to experience, which means you are aware of the kind of man I am. You made that obvious from the very start.
So tell me: why are you shocked by my actions? If we are so incompatible, then what bound us together in the Holy Grail War?
You are keeping something from me.
no subject
Don't waste time stating the obvious, priest. Of course I am. You must have grossly misinterpreted my situation to make such an ignorant comment. Especially with our situation. As I offered before, a partnership was my understanding of our arrangement.
And as such we share resources and goals, looking out for each other because it suits us. But I am not your slave and need not kow-tow to your whim. Like you seem to be expect from me.
[It took considerable effort to reign in his bitterness enough that it came off as indignation.
Lancer was, after all, trying to save his own skin by lulling Kirei into a false sense of security --twisting the facts to represent himself as Kirei's ex-partner and ally.
But even as his ally he would not allow such behavior to continue. Kirei needed to know that. Servants are not something to flop around like dolls. Doing so had serious consequences.]
Yes, I do know of your future self. And I am well aware of what you're capable of. Things, should they... get out, that would surely cost you your comfort in this city. If not your life.
no subject
Lancer is making a bold play, one which Kirei seems to understand a little more clearly now. However, it will also cost him. Kirei carries the command spells, and Lancer's honor will still his hand where Kirei has no such reservations. ]
You misunderstand. I have had this conversation once already. Would you condemn me for a sin that I have no memory of committing?
Tread carefully, Lancer.
no subject
And as I have said before, don't waste either of our time playing coy. You know what kind of person you are as much as I do. But I put myself through this tedium for something as pointless as idle threats and posturing.
[But you're posturing so much right now Lancer...]
Only cowards try to break their opponents' spirit with words. [THERE he couldn't help casting Kirei a furtive smile.]
You and I were allies in the future despite your disposition. And I chose to do so of my own volition. [Stretchin that truth. Hey, technically he did. If only to get revenge on Kirei.
Details.]
I had to find some way to return the hospitality you so graciously showed my master.
no subject
You are quite the abrasive Servant, and despite the consequences of our future [ or past, in Lancer's case ] there are no such circumstances binding us to one another now. I merely have the word of your supposed debt to me.
You'll understand that I need more than that.
no subject
Lancer would hate to play poker with the man.]
You are completely right. There is nothing holding us together other than those command spells.
However, in my past, it was not like that. [Here goes] During the Fifth War, my master and you were allies. However... [Maintain, Lancer.] Her naivety cost her as she wasn't prepared for the realities of the war.
I... failed her. [His anger and regret show true in this moment but he quickly calms.]
But you came to me before I faded. And made me an offer: To support my existence a little longer in the war. It would give you an edge, while it would give me a chance to kill the man responsible.
no subject
Lancer is not here by choice; he makes that obvious. Kirei has seen that much. The Servant is willful and wild, and he much prefers the company of Rin and her companions.
That would be troublesome if left untended to, so: ]
If I am to support your existence, Lancer, you are to support mine as well. Given that, there are certain precautions I must take.
[ Kirei lifts his left arm, and he speaks: ]
I order you, with my Command Spell, to keep all details of our arrangement secret.
