[It’s a beautiful summer day, and Calvin is hard at work wasting it. He has set up his own little outdoor teaching area by the beach. He has also stuck little cloth flags attached to sticks in the mud near the waves, heading outward from the ocean into the drier sand of the beach. Calvin himself is fully prepared for the day’s learning, standing with his hands on his hips in red swim trunks and far less sunscreen than a boy ought to have on the beach.
