ASTHENOA
WHO: The imPorts trapped in a video game.
WHERE: The virtual world of Asthenoa.
WHEN: 10AM August 26th to 11PM August 31st.
WARNINGS: Violence and fighting. Alert me of anything else for updates.
SUMMARY: A comedy of errors: imPorts are trapped in a Vulcanus-made video game.
FORMAT: As you like it.
Asthenoa is a land set on lush rolling hills under a bright blue sky eternally streaked with clouds. The only celestial variance comes during the nightly setting, where an eternally yellow full moon partially hides behind those clouds. The people of Asthenoa may be human, or elven, or dwarven, or they may have animalistic features, but none of that is of great social concern. Asthenoa has always been this way. The heart of the land is a medieval town set upon one of the highest hills, and the middle of that town sits a majestic stone castle. The busiest part of the town is the center, which hosts the marketplace. There you can buy necessities, or meet the blacksmith and other artisans at their working studios. Beyond the artisanal studios are the taverns and the inns.
Beyond the cheerier inns is a place called The Shriveled Shrike. If you head to the second floor and knock on the third room door thrice and rub your knee against the handle once, it will magically open and expose to you a staircase. People of the Rogue class know this inherently.
The staircase is five flights long. It leads to a black market in a mile long, mile wide underground bunker, where gambling and other darker magicks are indulged. You might meet a necromancer or three. You might run into trouble.
If you were to step out beyond the town, you would have to cross a moat via the drawbridge. It’s always closed up at nighttime, you can only pass during the day.
Beyond the moat (where serpents might swim) is a hilly pasture. Beyond the pasture is an enchanted forest. Strange things happen in these gnarled woods – this is where mystical creatures lurk. Acres of dark wood house sparkling lights and floating orbs and very unusual flora. The fauna includes many mythical beings, including centaurs and fairies and griffins. There could be even more hidden within secret caves or pools of darkening water.
You feel the need to venture past this alluring wood. You feel it deeply.

She somehow didn't pay the other alien enough attention, because those fangs -- and that barely restrained blood thirst -- now has it.
In her momentary distraction, she almost doesn't catch the ice maiden until she narrowly avoids the sharp swing of a sword. It clangs hard against the wall where Peej's head was supposed to be. ]
What is with this place? Oh!
[ She rolls away as the sword drives forward, hissing when it grazes her shoulder. Red spreads beneath the fabric. ]

the maiden lets out a cry as kanaya makes repeated frenzied tugs to free her sword, no longer paying any attention to the fight. in her pain and anger, the maiden backhands her, hurling her against the wall. ]

At least it diverts her attention; the maiden fixes her attention on Peej and grabs her by the neck. She feels her oxygen cut off fast and panic grips her. She's never had to worry about oxygen before. ]

she doesn't go for her sword again, but just goes right into pounding her fists into it from behind. eventually, some parts holds, shredding the skin on the knuckles, but others crack and splinter under her berserker's strength. the maiiden inhales sharply as she releases her grip on peej, turning her own fury to scrape at kanaya with her long fingers. ]

She gathers herself and attempts to signal Kanaya. ]
Grab it -- maybe we can break it against the walls!
[ Tired, dizzy, and aching in every joint she snatches an arm of the maidens, enduring the more torn flesh and tries to slam her as hard as she can against the wall. If they can hit her enough times, maybe they can crack her. ]

it's just when she feels the plate in her right gauntlet give that peej comes in for the assist on her left. furious as she may be, she has just enough clarity of mind to catch onto the plan, and follows suit. one hand takes the maiden's free wrist, and it's like wrapping her fingers around broken glass. with the other other she jams her elbow in the monster's sternum, then cups her hand under its jaw and puts all her augmented strength into ramming it against the wall.
the time knocks her sword free. she doesn't want it right now. each that follows, and there are as many as kanaya can take before she's stopped, pounds and pulverizes the icy bits of the maiden's body, stressing the cracks already in it and making more in the wall behind.
kanaya maryam is berserk and she doesn't have patience for any of this. ]

She has to muster up all the energy she has in her powerless body, hooking her arm around one side of the maiden to continue their relentless assault. With each slam the bones in her arms and knees scream and it becomes difficult to tell where the floor and wall meet exactly.
She hears the crackling of ice and diamond in her ear, heart practically thundering with anticipation as they near their objective. ]
Come on you -- you over sized sculpture!

when the arm she's holding breaks off in her hand, she tosses it against the opposite wall, breaking into chunks on impact. the legs go next, leaving them holding just a torso, but kanaya doesn't stop under it crumbles under her hands, leaving her holding nothing but the head. she slams it on the floor, admiring the satisfying way it shatters before collapsing against the wall herself.
the come-down from berserking is harsh enough as it is, but she can already feel her arms throbbing. even if they were bleeding, she feels like she might've dislocated something, mangling and pulverizing her own hands in the effort to do the same to her opponent. they aren't healing like they're supposed to, she hates this place.
when she finally catches her breath enough to speak, her glow has died down entirely, and the red in her eyes has settled into its normal yellow. she isn't sure she can take much more of this, she'll wear out her body if she has to. ]
So, does... Does this mean we...win?

It burns, but more than that, the fact she feels it is what really hits her. With as much energy she can muster, she lifts a hand and wipes it away and lets the arm flop uselessly to her side. ]
I hope so. We can't sit around, but... [ Thinking</> about moving hurts. She knows they can't linger her any longer, but she's hungry and tired, and really needs a five minute breather. ]

she should continue the job, get this whole thing done, find her way out. but she's so tired. she's tired and nothing is working the way it's supposed to. it takes far less effort to watch the blood drip from her gauntlet and wonder if she should be worried. ]
It really should've stopped by now. It never takes this long.

The bleeding. Well, the wound in its entirety, really. In normal circumstances, it should have healed by now.

[ Whether or not that's an accurate comparison? She doesn't really know; she doesn't play games like that.
She focuses on Kanaya's wound, trying to get herself back on her two feet and over to the girl. ]
Are you okay, though? I'll tear some of the fabric off this dress to use as makeshift bandages.

You don't have to do that, I have some bandages in my pack. I haven't really tried any of the balms, however.
