SUMMARY: Kenzi gets stood up on a date.

[Over a year in the City and Kenzi's been on less than a handful of dates, dates actually called dates that is. Although honestly she hadn't really been trying to get dates. But somehow she had agreed to go on a date with some random guy. Go figure she'd go through all the effort to make herself look nice, oh wait she always looks nice, and he didn't show.

So now she stands outside the diner they were supposed to meet at looking more than a little disgruntled.] I should have realized this was going to happen when he wanted to meet here instead of the movies or somewhere not cheap.

[She sighs and looks around, what is a girl supposed to do now? She's all dressed up and there's only bars to go to.

With a shrug she turns to start off down the street, maybe she can find something to do if she walks around.]

[ Troy's spent the day fixing up window units for an at-least-a-little-shady used appliance guy. He's basically the opposite of dressed up, in junk clothes with smudges of dust and gunk that refuse to be shaken free. He's just picked up dinner, which explains the plastic bag containing a box full of fast-food tacos.

And oh, hey. He knows that person. His face opens into a grin, and he waves. ]

Hey, Kenzi! Long time, no see. How's it going, girl?

[Kenzi checks through her phone one more time to make sure she has the right place and time and sure enough. And go figure he's not answering any texts. She scowls at her phone until she hears a familiar voice.

The scowl vanishes as she puts on a smile. It's a rather threatening smile...] Hey, Troy. Not much, just wishing I could removes the balls of the jackhole that stood me up.

[ That earns an involuntary flinch, both the smile and the comment. He sucks in a breath through his teeth. ] Yikes. I guess that explains the get-up.

You sure he's not just running late or something?

[She notices the flinching and it causes her to grin. Yeah, no. Thirty minuets is not late, that's not even fashionably late. And he's not responding to texts or calls so... Totes stood me up.

[Her! How could anyone even think of standing her up. She'd be, like, the best date ever.]

Yeah. Lame.

Well, hey. [ He lifts his bag up like a salute, easing back into a wide smile. ] You wanna hang out and eat some tacos?

Eating tacos isn't some kind of euphemism is it? [She gives a little laugh.] But sure, sounds like a plan.

Nah. I'm pretty sure old people eat tacos, too. At least, my friend Pierce does, and then they all fall apart and he's all like 'Nooo, my taco.' [ Haha. Yeah. ] It's pretty funny.

[ So his mind didn't wrap around "euphemism" just right. But tacos. ] Yeah. I was just gonna go back to me and Abed's place, if that's cool with you. I told him I'd grab some dinner.

[Sofia is coming home from volunteering at the homeless shelter. It's hard to miss Kenzi when she's made the effort to get dolled up. She glances around, looking for the people who should be keeping Kenzi company. There are none in sight. Kenzi looks a little despondent.]

Hi. [Sofia steps into Kenzi's path.] Who is the the luck guy tonight?

[Kenzi's steps pause in order to not run right into Sofia. She looks surprised for a moment, not really having expected running into anyone she knows.]

No one. Jerkass stood me up.

His loss.

[Sofia glances at her watch. Julian isn't expecting her home for another hour. ]

I know I am not a guy but let me buy you a drink. There will be cute guys in the bars.

[She shrugs.]

Sure. At the very least I can get my flirt on.

[Sofia smiles.]

There is a good bar around the bar and no creepy old men go in there.

[Sofia leads the way down the street.]

Where did you meet the jerk?

Sounds like a good place to me. [She smiles back.]

There's this little movie theater I like to go that shows really older movies, he happened to be there. We talked and seemed to hit it off but apparently he changed his mind. [She shrugs again.]

[There is nothing fancy about the bar. It's plain and simple, and by a some miracle, it is never packed out with tourists.]

Wow, I'd love to see the place. Apparently though even geeky guys can be jerks.

[As she does most nights, Gemma is wandering. Sometimes the magic made it difficult to sleep, but more often than not it was the nightmares. She had gotten them under control for a short while, and it had been blissful--but good things could only last so long.

At least tonight she is finding more entertaining places to be than alone in her townhouse. She's always enjoyed watching street performers, and when a man playing his guitar and singing about a girl he loves (but she doesn't know he exists, what a tragedy) she doesn't hesitate to drop some money into his instrument case.

And it it just after he stops playing that she starts walking and hears the young woman talking to herself. A deduction isn't too difficult to make. Gemma slows her pace to fall into step with Kenzi.]

I couldn't help but overhear... were you ah, stood up, is it?

[Kenzi had been staring at her phone again so when Gemma speaks up next to her she nearly jumped out of her skin. She stares at her for a moment before sighing and nodding.]

He wasn't that cute anyway, so no biggie.

[Gemma presses her fingers to her lips, sympathy crossing her face.]

Still, that's terrible. I know how frustrating that can be.

[Kenzi shrugs.] His loss for being a jerk. Besides, it's not like I was expecting anything awesome out of this date. It was just something to do.

[She inclines her head. She still doesn't understand dating very well.] Ah, well, if you're still looking for something to do, perhaps I can assist. I don't have any plans, and I wouldn't mind company as I wander about.

[Peter usually swings home from work, but tonight he's stopping by the drug store first. He stops outside the door to tuck his newly-purchased ibuprofen away, and that's when he sees a familiar figure coming down the street.]

Oh, hey Kenzi. You look nice tonight -- big date?

[Kenzi pauses, glancing up at Peter before scowling a bit.] I wouldn't say big but yeah, there was a date planned. Jackass stood me up though.

[A sympathetic wince.] Ooh, that's a bummer. He doesn't know what he's missing. [There's nothing flirtatious in his tone, but he is sincere.]

[She shrugs before giving a little grin.] Damn right he doesn't. He wasn't that attractive anyway so, no loss.

[Brow raise.] The next question being, why were you going out with him in the first place? Can't have been his personality!

I have a weakness for artistic types? [She shrugs.]

He seemed cool and he's attractive...ish but not, like, oh my God super hot. Obviously he's a complete jerk.

Well, there's other fish in the sea. Count yourself lucky -- at least you know right off the bat, right?

Though, I'd give him at least a day or so to apologize in case his grandma got sick or cat got run over or something. You never know.
