SUMMARY: This log is forever open to fraternize, socialize, and otherwise eat pie in Ned's restaurant. Increasingly throughout the month, the Pie Hole will be decorated for Halloween! All day on the 31st there will be candy apples and popcorn balls behind the counter for trick-or-treaters and anyone else adventurous enough to come in wearing a Halloween costume.

Perhaps that spirit didn't have the same longevity, and so it had to be excised. Like something of a surgery.

But I wouldn't exactly describe a tradition that's had the lifespan of over two millennia as lacking longevity.

[He pauses briefly to peek inside the oven at the baking pies.

More like one group of powerful, entitled people came along and confiscated it for themselves. All the while ignoring what the heart of the tradition was supposed to represent.

As for missing it-[Closing the oven, he turns back and shrugs, a whistful smile on his face.]

Hard to miss something I've only lost for a couple of months.

I suppose it may look that way from certain perspectives. [ like maybe one that isn't daftly imperialistic. ]

Is that couple of months just how long you've been here, or have you visited since? I wasn't sure that the Imbargo act extends that far.

Well, my situation is a little unique. Actually just recently I was dead, brought back as a new being outside of my time for a couple weeks, died again. Then I wound up here.

[He all very matter of fact about this.]

I'm not sure what this 'Imbargo' act is, truthfully. Does it have something to do with imports?

[ hey, she's not gonna blink at people coming back from the dead, she's been there a couple times. maybe not so close together, of course. that's rough, buddy. ]

It does, there are certain nations on this planet that have, for one reason or another, barred imPorts from crossing within their borders. I'm not sure that Ireland is included among them, but I know England is.

But if this is outside your time, I imagine it would be a very different place, anyway.

[Even though he's been here for almost three months now, he knows practically nothing about the politics of this world yet.]

I'd like to see them try to keep Ireland's Son of Light out of his own country! Is it fear of all these random super powers that Lachesis is sticking on people?

Well, yeah. What else would you expect? You've certainly seen the sort of things we can do, perhaps even heard of some of the things we already have.

I'm sure you must have heard of the violent coup an imPort initiated in Southwest Phoenicia earlier this year.

[It did make sense. From what he could tell not everyone summoned to this world was exactly hero material. Look at Kirei.

All it would take is a few less than honorable imports with destructive powers to create a catastrophe. Wide spread panic and paranoia would be soon to follow.]

No, I haven't. Though I'm not surprised. I imagine with the power granted to them by Lachesis, few could resist the temptation to grab power.

What happened?

Well, this one wasn't Lachesis' fault, aside from bringing the individual in question here to begin with. In the simplest terms, an omnipotent idiot decided it was her place to improve the world, through whatever means necessary.

It was an act of pure ego, conducted by someone with full capability of doing whatever she likes, but without the prudence to recognize when that what she wants isn't the be all and end all of existence.

[ not that she's bitter or anything about not having been listened to. it isn't kanaya's fault that she ultimately ended up in prison. ]
