there's a story no one tells

WHO: Frank Castle, Oswald Cobblepot, Renee Montoya
WHERE: The Iceberg Lounge
WHEN: October 23, Night
WARNINGS: N/A, will update if needed
SUMMARY: Renee and Frank ride off into the sunset to Ozzie's Lounge
FORMAT: Tagger's choice!

[ Keep your friends close, your enemies closer, and your violent-vigilantes-slash-tentative-partners closest. Unsure of where she stands with Frank, especially after their last encounter, she nevertheless drives toward their agreed upon location.

A motorcycle wasn't exactly her transportation of choice. However, since her vehicle was under repair at the police station, she didn't have an alternative.

Besides, arriving at the Iceberg Lounge with the prize she won from Cobblepot's lottery would be sure to vex him. That was always a bonus. ]

[ The location is nowhere unique; just enough to be a landmark which will catch her eye: an ordinary sort of restaurant a short ways away from Cobblepot's club. He waits, exactly on the time which they agreed to, with his hands tucked into his pockets.

At the party, he had tried to set grounds for something with Cobblepot -- then he abandoned that by consenting to taking Montoya's lead in this. He doubts he will regret it, but he has to see her in action first.

They're out for Harvey Dent again. Frank hasn't pursued the man in earnest since their last encounter, as he was already locked away, but he has watched him on the Network and what he's seen isn't too flattering. Cobblepot, along with Montoya and Dent, share a home world, and because of that they share secrets. Or that's the idea.

When she pulls up, Frank pauses, and he steps forward to affirm that yes, that is the motorcycle from Cobblepot's raffle.

That necessary?

[ As Renee doesn't move from her own seat, he realizes which one she intends for him to take.

Well that's just great.
]

All this for a rise out of Cobblepot?

[ But he obliges anyway, stepping around to the back on the bike and climbing on. ]

The station only has one car?

[ But despite the argument, he has his arms around her waist. ]

[ Excuse you. He isn't going to bother replying to that. ]

Just drive.

[personal profile] fronttowardenemy 2013-10-26 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[ He climbs off, adjusting his coat as he steps aside with her. ]

Figure you'll want to do the talking.

[ Equally dry: ] 10-4.

On your six. [ He adds as he falls in stride behind her. ]

Seems you have a reputation. [ Frank remarks, but otherwise he intends to keep his silence. He won't try to take charge; this is her operation.

Besides, he wants to see how she works.

He waits, with his hands tucked into his jacket pockets.

[ Eventually, the lounge opens up for the two of them. Ozzie's in the center, it's still early enough in the evening that patrons are still coming in. Things are still quiet, low, and Oswald is getting to know his guests for the night.

That was always a surefire way for them to open up later.

He does turn, to find one of the constant thorns in his side, along with -- whom he'd thought would provide interesting conversation (and business) later. Either he was a snitch, or she was hitting even people he'd spoken with once. He had the help usher them in, even as he approached, affixing himself with a jovial stride, affecting the look that he wasn't at all bothered by her visit.
]

Detective! What a pleasant surprise.

[ Frank isn't exactly keen on looking like a hired thug, so he stays at Montoya's side, rather than lurking behind her: status of an equal, rather than an underling.

Regardless, he does as she asks and lets her talk.

He wonders what Cobblepot will offer her now.

Do we?

[ He asked, his steps starting to move toward the edge of the room, to slide toward his stairs. He kept his eyes locked on her. ]

What about, may I ask?

[personal profile] fronttowardenemy 2013-10-30 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe you should.

[ It's a small remark, one spoken from behind Renee's shoulder. He doesn't imagine Cobblepot likes the idea of being chewed out in fron of his patrons. ]

Can't be good for business.
motherflocker: (Fuck you hush!!)

[personal profile] motherflocker 2013-10-30 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
That may not necessarily be needed. Would you like to speak somewhere more private?

[ Already, he was stiffening. Ozzie could talk the talk, but the moment they tried to get him to do the walk, he would break. Oswald didn't like being threatened.

He narrowed his eyes as he walked toward a large set of double doors. He was going to lead them there, without even offering them to follow.

Impolite, but cold. They would get the picture.

i have this tracked where was my notif dreamwidth!!!

It'd be better for you.

[ Frank was learning as much as he could, while he got into this. The first fact was that Cobblepot wasn't stupid. He cared about his business; it wasn't just a front. He also cared about image, and he wouldn't risk it. So, privacy: even if it wasn't well advised to be 'alone' with Frank Castle.

But there won't be any risk of that -- Renee's orders.

Besides, he doesn't have enough dirt on Cobblepot to justify that.

motherflocker: (King in the castle)

rude dw!!!

[personal profile] motherflocker 2013-11-03 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, yes, that was why I invited you to my office.

[ He said it simply, tersely, as if he were speaking to a pair of idiots. Of course, to Oswald, he was. The Detective was bright, yes, and naturally suspicious, and the other man was an unknown quantity, but Oswald was careful, painstakingly so.

And he was reformed. Perhaps he kept tabs on a few things, perhaps he may have facilitated some deals for a finder's fee, but he did care about the lounge, and didn't want to lose it.

He led them back into his office, where they were greeted by a rather expansive office, high windows, expensive art, and a room that led further back, where the only thing visible was the edges of a rather large hot tub.
]

Well?

[ He asked, as he settled into the wide, expensive chair. ]

[personal profile] fronttowardenemy 2013-11-06 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Frank goes ahead and looks around the office. He picks things up and sets then down again -- not excessively, just there and here. Enough to be noticeable. He wants to know if Cobblepot gets edgy with his things being touched, or if there's any particular area of the room that he'll become defensive of.

It's not as direct as Renee's approach, but it's a method of questioning in its own way.
]
motherflocker: (Crap.)

[personal profile] motherflocker 2013-11-08 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
Dent's twins? Who, his little henchmen?

[ He shook his head, waving a hand. ]

Fine, fine I heard some things. Make it worth my while.

[ Ozzie would always try and make demands. Information wasn't free. ]

[personal profile] fronttowardenemy 2013-11-12 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
[ That catches Frank's attention. He stops, glancing over his shoulder, and he gives a glance to Renee.

When he speaks, it's a mutter, but still audible:
]

Stupider than I thought.
motherflocker: I take my defaults so seriously (Oh um hrm)

[personal profile] motherflocker 2013-11-12 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
[ He shot the man a look, half-betrayed, half-exasperated. He obviously didn't know how Ozzie worked, and well -- he was a businessman. ]

I'm a businessman! I know plenty of things, things that could help you out quite a bit. [ He backed into the room. ] I can't give these things out for free.
