EARTH 24*(&A$%7HGKPOI

WHO: All transdimensional imPorts.
WHERE: The town of Capers.
WHEN: October 24th, noon, to October 29th, noon.
WARNINGS: Probably violence, but alert me if something else evolves and I can update this.
SUMMARY: Lachesis pulls a group of Cityverse imPorts into another world adventure -- here be the wilds of the west, and dinosaurs!
FORMAT: As you please!

You arrive at the town of Capers from one split second to the next -- from the asphalt and concrete of the City to the dusty and earthen dirt of this wildwood space. The sun is hot and the sky is streaked with thin clouds. The landscape of the town is sparse, utilitarian; you'll find saloons and dance halls, quarries and fenced corrals, the local gaol and the hanging scaffold, the shops and medical facilities (barbershop included). In fact, the logwood architecture of the buildings direct into those four major categories, and the structure of the town forms something circular, much like a compass. You might have been ported in at any of these places, as Lachesis would have delivered you at random.

The sun in the sky burns a golden yellow, peering down at you like some celestial eyeball. Almost feels like it's watching you.

You're wearing your clothes and you've got your communicator on you, but that's about it. You can still contact the Network, but you cannot leave this world. And since you look like such an outsider, it takes only a few moments for you to be ushered by local Samaritans to the Capers Town Hall. There, in his white suit and black belt, stands Mayor Eisner -- and he greets you warmly. He tells you that Capers is used to extradimensional pioneers, and he's happy to invite you into his town. But for a town like his to survive at this unilateral crossroads, certain customs must be observed -- you understand, there's a method of expectation that enables order. You might catch glimpses of other imPorts filing in, being escorted by the kindly souls they came across. Mayor Eisner asks you your name and your favorite color. He asks you if you're a spiritual individual, or more secular. He asks you about the first animal that comes into your mind.

Then he ponders your face for a moment.

Then, with a strong and genuine pat on your shoulder, he tells you who you are, in his town of Capers.

You are free to reject or accept the role, but that all comes with respective consequences.

Welcome to Capers, hero.

"Payment in food?" he asked, giving her a look up and down. Well, she did look like she was starving, and if there was a way to get most of the profit, it was to pay in food. A girl like her probably couldn't eat much anyway. "Very well, I think we could arrange something, if you're that up for it," he chuckled, slipping his monocle off for a moment to look through it, holding it up to one of the oil lamps, to make sure it wasn't muddled.

"I expect that you're looking for a down payment, then?" he asked, giving her a look.

As if Ozzie could have said no to taking a young woman out to dinner, anyway.

Yako opened her mouth to answer, but her stomach did it for her, letting out a long, mournful gurgle as if the prospect of having food in it was enough to wake it. She had the grace to look embarrassed, but not the shame to turn down the offer, especially when she knew she wouldn't be much use until she was properly fed.

"Yes, please." She said it with as much firm politeness as she could muster, even if she wasn't really in a position to haggle. "If it isn't too much trouble."

A change of clothes could also probably be negotiated with someone in town once she explained she'd accepted her role, but first things first.

"Very well, very well. I suppose if that's what you need to complete the job, I would be amicable to paying your meal," he gathered the umbrellas in his hand, a stack of them in one arm, and he offered her his arm.

"Shall we?"

"Of course. Lead the way."

Some people might hesitate before taking Oswald Cobblepot's arm, even when it was being extended in what was to all appearances benign intent, but Yako doesn't pause, slipping her hand easily into the crook of his arm. Out of heels, she only has an inch or so on him, so they're not too mismatched a couple as she follows Ozzie to wherever he leads, and she even manages to avoid leaning too much of her weight on him.

"Very well," he agreed, leading her toward the closest tavern, the watering hole where there were people selling and dealing in secrets, the sorts that weren't good at it, like Ozzie was. He listened carefully, read between the lines, and made conclusions which worked to his advantage. Most of the people in there were barely able to keep their voices down.

Which is why it was an excellent place for them to eat, if only for his own, selfish reasons.

"Ah, here we are. I hope you don't mind the food, I'm afraid they're all varying levels of sludge."

"As long as it's not radioactive, I'll be fine," she assured him, slipping into her seat. From her tone, it would have been difficult to tell whether or not it wa a joke. She kept observing the room around them, but discreetly -- Ozzie could no doubt tell, if he was paying her any attention at all, but she kept it subtle enough that the distracted patrons and milling servers wouldn't.

She could see why he'd pick a place like this, if he didn't have access to something like the Iceberg Lounge.

"Trust me, I don't eat radioactive food," he said simply. It wasn't trashy, but it was certainly "rustic" was a kind word for it. He led her to a table, and even held the chair out for her. Ozzie was, as ever, the charmer.

A painfully sleazy charmer, but certainly still a charmer.
