she said get your hands off of my star
WHO: THE BLACK CAT and NEPETA LEIJON
WHERE: Around the Chrysler building
WHEN: Friday evening (11/1)
WARNINGS: Nah.
SUMMARY: Felicia shows Nepeta the ropes.
FORMAT: Whatevah.
[ It hadn't taken terribly long for Felicia to hook up another set of equipment: she knew her way around this kind of thing. An extra harness, some cables, grappling hooks, and traction gloves sat in a bag at her feet as she stood, in costume, by the tall building, knowing full well she'd probably have to stick around and give the kid a crash course in how this all was used.
Not that she minded. Maybe it was a little dangerous, but the girl already said she hunted, already was something of a climber. Giving her the option to go higher seemed the right thing to do. ]

when she spots Felicia she gives her a cheery wave, rocking back on her heels lightly as she draws to a stop. she grins at the other woman before giving in to curiosity and allowing her gaze to rest fully on the equipment]
Hey! Ooh, this stuff looks supurr neat.
no subject
Good. You made it. [ She pushes some hair from her face, away from her domino-mask circled eyes, before she offers the harness to Nepeta for her to hold. ] I use this sort of stuff all the time. What you do is attach this around your waist. And this--
[ She indicates one of the loops, then one of her cables. ]
Attaches to this. Catch you if you fall.
no subject
But only if you make a mistake furst, right?
no subject
[ Taking her own grappling hook, she chucked it up at a low-hanging awning and pulled herself up a couple of steps up the wall. Just to demonstrate. ]
Or down.
So you don't need a foothold.
no subject
her hands pull her own climbing gear a little closer to her. she wants to put it on right now and try it out, but common sense keeps her from doing so before her first instructions are over]
That's so cool! So you can purretty much climb whatefur you want so long as you can stick the hook somewhere?
no subject
[ Still smiling. She tilts her head upward, looking up at the sky scraper behind them. ]
Tall buildings like that, you take in levels. Start with whatever's lowest, and when you're at the top of that, you do the next one. Here.
[ She passes Nepeta the other grappling hook, in case she already wants to try. ]
Just got to always make sure it holds in place before you put your weight on it.
no subject
Defurnitely! I'd purrobably land on my feet, but that doesn't mean I want to.
[with one last experimental tug to make sure everything's firmly attached, Nepeta looks back up at the building. she allows just a brief thrill of nervous adrenaline to rush through her before taking aim and gently lobbing her hook up.
one tug, then another. feels good enough, which means it's time to see how good she is at this kind of climbing. up she goes!]
no subject
A bit of the way up, she asks: ]
How's the climb?
no subject
[she calls over, pausing in her rickety ascent to reply. Nepeta hasn't slipped yet, but it's quite obvious that this is her first time operating with anything remotely similar to the climbing equipment. her voice is still upbeat, though, as she's thoroughly enjoying the adventure even if she isn't quite polished yet]
I've nefur really climbed like this befur.
no subject
[ Luckily the building they're currently scaling is only about three or four stories; nothing compared to what else New York has to offer. ]
Better to get used to the equipment first.
no subject
[she giggles a little]
no subject
Don't worry. The cable's long enough that you can jump if you have to. Though my advice is to always climb when you can. Puts less weight on the material.
no subject
[what can she say? taking a dive from that height with the knowledge of mostly guaranteed safety sounds like a great time.
Nepeta scrambles up after Felicia soon enough, making a softly triumphant sound in the back of her throat as she settles herself into a sitting position on the roof's edge. her grin only widens as she looks out at the city from their position, feet idly kicking at the building they've just climbed]
Oh, this view is purretty.
no subject
[ She smirks, letting her legs hang over the ledge. It's dark enough now that the City is awash in lights, a sea of pinpricks stretching out endlessly. Looking at that, even from not-as-high-up, is always relaxing to Felicia in some abstract way; she nods. ]
It's my favorite one.
no subject
[she soaks in the atmosphere in contended silence for a few minutes, just watching the lights of cars below her streak past as the city moved on with its life. then she speaks, voice a little pensive]
I think my fafurite is back on my Sgrub purrlanet, when I'd stay up supurr late and climb one of the sugar piles to get a good view of the sunrise. I really wasn't supposed to still be awake, but it was so purretty watching the sun make all of the sugar sparkle like a bunch of gems that it was worth it.
[there's a lot of stuff she isn't certain that Felicia will know about, but Nepeta hopes that she can at least get a rough approximation of the scene she's trying to describe]
no subject
If you ask me, the best views are the ones that you have to bend the rules a little to see.
no subject
Yeah, I think you're right. It makes the story a lot more fun to tell furiends later too.
no subject
[ Her legs swing a little, carefree. She shrugs slightly. ]
Assuming you have friends.
[ She doesn't have many. ]
no subject
[she should know, she's probably a certain sweaty bigot's only real friend]
And even then there's purrlenty of people who'll listen to you talk anyway.
no subject
Felicia tilts her head in thought, finally nodding. ]
There is that. Take it you must have plenty.
[ Friends, she means. ]
no subject
Although I think I purrobably have more people who wish I wasn't so good at it.
[although in her opinion the grumpy people she needs to aggressively friendship are some of her favorites]
no subject
Some people need to learn to appreciate someone who will do the talking for both of them. [ She pauses. ] Of course, there's always some benefit to solitude.
no subject
[except for Pounce, of course, but it was still a great deal of solitude]
Maybe that's why I like bothering grumpy people so much. I get to talk as much as I like and when they get all quiet I don't mind that eifur.
no subject
[ She has a fairly Spartan view on personal relationships, clearly. ]
Isn't that just as lonely?
no subject
[she knocks her heel into the building thoughtfully, then decides to continue with her thought]
But then I don't really think that being with people slows you down, really. So maybe that's just me.
