(no subject)

WHO: Amelia, Lina, Gourry, and Al
WHERE: Somewhere not so far from Chinatown . . .
WHEN: May 1st?
WARNINGS: Bickering and likely Gourry abuse.
SUMMARY: The Slayers have found themselves an apartment after intense, flurried searching. Of course, now they have to move in, and they never do anything by halves. Al is there for damage control.
FORMAT: I don't know, man. ^^;;

The apartment was spacious, clean. Slightly older, it smelled faintly of old wood and new paint, the marks of former paint jobs speckling the floors near the edges. The floors themselves were wood, worn in areas from the constant paths of feet, the wood faintly discolored in areas, particularly near the kitchen where it ran into faintly yellow linoleum. It creaked with satisfying protests -- the squeal of wood against wood. A skylight in the living room area spilled sun onto the floor, and a hallway led to two reasonably-sized bedrooms and a bathroom.

It would be home. Amelia surveyed the apartment with satisfaction, setting down the box and stretching out her shoulders. Yes. This would be good.

Though notably this would probably be the cleanest it would ever be again.

Gourry's eyes lit up at the mention of a thing that he could potentially eat. "Yeah, yeah! Let's do that!"

He turned to what's-his-face.

"Thanks a lot, Al. You're a good guy."

"Don't worry about it," Al assured Amelia, before turning back to the other two.

He was somewhat tempted to argue against Lina's offer, but considering the warnings Amelia had given him, it was probably best to just appreciate the generosity while it lasted. "Thanks! Pizza sounds great."

Home-delivery was a pretty amazing thing, and it would be good to have something other than Chinese food for once.

"Pepperoni sounds good, and I have no idea - if we do, it probably won't be much." Lina was about to get her gadget-thingie to place an order, but a thought came to her, and she suddenly grinned excitedly. She stuffed her hands into her pockets and pulled out a crumbled up piece of paper and then opened it up to smooth it out. Once it was smoothed out to her satisfaction, she handed it to Al with the cheekiest little grin.

"You're helping with some of the furniture, riiiiiiiight?" ♥ "I got some designs!"

Of course her designs were WEIRDLY colorful and had...things...that looked like evil sunflowers. And a snowbunny on a couch.

Don't ask.

Gourry leaned down and whispered in Al's ear. "They don't have to look exactly like she draws them..."

Al blinked as he looked over the paper, smiling nervously. The designs were pretty unusual, but growing up with a brother who enjoyed transmuting everyday objects into demonic skulls had given Al a pretty high tolerance for tackiness.

"It wouldn't be a problem. But maybe Amelia and Gourry should pick some designs out too?" Al nodded surreptitiously at the latter, wondering how much he'd be able to tone down without Lina noticing.

...they were all. So. Mean.

"I hate you guys!" Lina growled and turned around, pulling her gadget thing out. "You know what? FINE. I'm gonna order pizza. For my self. And eat it in front of all you guys and not give you any!"

That'll show them.

"...and, Amelia, you're just saying that because you live in a stinkin' palace and everything there's ugly and ancient!"

[identity profile] gourys-usernaem.livejournal.com 2009-05-02 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Gourry sighed. "Can't we just have normal stuff like normal people? Like... tables and chairs?"

At that point Lina's threat sunk in.

"Hey! I'm eating pizza no matter how much you get!"

[identity profile] alphonse.livejournal.com 2009-05-02 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
"There's no reason to decide on all this now anyway, right?" Al stepped forward, hoping to defuse the situation before it could escalate. It would be a shame if they started fighting before they were even all moved in. "There'll be plenty of time to do the decorating later, after we've got the basics covered."

It was clear now that he couldn't send Ed to help with that--who knew what horrific ideas he and Lina would come up with together?

"You touch my pizza and I will throw you off the building," Lina threatened with a scowl, waving at fist at Gourry.

"...and my palace would be prettier," was her response to Amelia. Hmph.

And Ed and Lina would totally make awesome decorations.

"Then order me some, too!" Gourry had already lost interest in the furniture. More important matters were at stake.

Well, that had failed miserably. Instead of interfering, it might be better for Al to give the others a few moments to themselves to sort out their problems. He had a feeling this wasn't something he wanted to end up in the middle of.

"Um, maybe I should go check and make sure we didn't leave anything important downstairs..." Al eyed the door, contemplating a temporary escape.

Oh, NOW Lina felt insulted.

"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT--THERE SO IS!" Instead of following through with replying to Gourry, she threw her gadget thingie into his face. Hard. "And order your own! YOU DON'T GIVE ME SUPPORT!"

Don't count on escaping so soon, Al.

"I'll just get pizza for Al and I," Lina said, suddenly cheerily, and she abruptly hooked her arm with Al's with a BIG smile. "Whatddya say, Al?" Insert batting eyelashes here.

"You'd better run while you still can, buddy," Gourry told Al. He shoved Lina's gadget thingy in his pocket.

Running was easier said than done with Lina holding onto him like that. Escape attempt successfully thwarted, Al was left with little more to do than stand beside her awkwardly.

"Okay?" He agreed lamely, unsure of how to handle this. "Er, I mean, we can all get pizza. And maybe you can just divide up the furniture so it isn't all in one style?"

In spite of overwhelming odds, Al clung to hope that he could reason with them.

He was pretty much doomed.
