Party Time~

WHO: Cannonball, Rictor, Cable, Domino
WHERE: X-force's place.
WHEN: May 5th, evening. Sometime after Rictor's post
WARNINGS: Fucking drunks
SUMMARY: Basically Rictor needs to be Mexican about life, so he and Sam make food. He's also a bitch and didn't invite Yuuto. Layla is playing kidnaps and two members are still in comas but s'all good.
FORMAT: Whatevers

Rictor was right, weird as it was. They did needed a little break from it all. Layla hadn't been found yet, while Tabby and Shatterstar were still in comas. Though it sucked, the team did need a night of peace. Drinks, dinner and an all around good time were needed. They could put behind missions for one night. At least, that's what they would try for.

Sam was helping Rictor cook, which was a scary thought. Rictor wasn't known for his great food preparation, so Sam was making it his job to keep an extra eye on everything.

Their searches every night were coming up empty. Layla was no where to be found, but Cable was not giving up hope. He had to remain strong for the team, especially Sam who had a special emotional connection with the girl. They have been through worse and they have succeeded in countless missions. This was another goal. They just needed to work harder.

...after tonight. After Shatterstar and Tabby wake up from their induced comas. After the shock from Deadpool's sudden appearance dies down. After the mayhem sweeping the City.

Cable was packing heat that night. He had guns hidden in his trench coat as he walked out that night to buy tequila and other Mexican drinks of choice. He even got a sombrero at a costume shop on the walk back home. Hey, he was feeling festive and it would hide Rictor's hair.

He returned home to the smell of spicy food and pastries and other delicacies in the air. Cable smiled to himself. It was almost home, almost perfect--he set down the bags of booze at the foot of their rickety dinner table.

Domino had been out all day. Mostly checking any place she knew to see if there was anything more about Layla. Nothing, of course. Followed by a small job, the day had been pretty normal for her. Whatever. Still no luck on anything, so calling it a night really wouldn't hurt.

She set her weapons down into her room and quickly changed into something that wasn't a uniform. See? She did have other clothes. Domino shook her head. She wasn't really in the mood for a party, but she was still going. It had been awhile since she had gotten drunk, weird as it was.

Something told her they'd need to break out the ShamWow again.

The first few days here had been surreal. He kept expecting to wake up back in Mexico, in 1999, in the middle of his old life. But he was always here in this weird city in a dinky roller disco with the old members of X-Force. Literally old; all had a good two years on him.

He knew they were all stressed out over finding some girl he didn't remember, and he knew they weren't having any luck. He also knew that all the things he and Star had talked about earlier were still settling in his brain. He'd lose his powers in two years, become this depressed shell of a man. Star committing murder for hire. He and Star going their separate ways because he couldn't deal with being powerless.

They'd talked them through, but they still weighed heavily in his mind.

It was definitely time for a party. And what better than Cinco de Mayo to use as an excuse for everyone to sit down, get shitfaced and eat greasy food.

"Hey, Sam!" He called after. "How about I stick to dicing things? A little blood in the pico de gallo won't kill us, but my cooking salmonella chicken might."

Rictor and Sam were shouting at each other in their make shift kitchen. Dinner smelled good with their combined effort. What did Cable always say about teamwork?

When Domino walked in wearing something other than her uniform, Cable smiled and picked the sombrero off his head to give to her. Actually, force on her was a more appropriate term. He unceremoniously placed it on her head and kept his hand there. Cable bent his knees to be eye-level with her.

"I didn't think you'd come to the fiesta so early." True, he figured Domino would be working and catch the waning hours of their night long extravaganza if they could call it one. Nonetheless, it was nice to have her around. She was as much one of the guys as she was his closest friend right now.

this is her face

[identity profile] luckpuns.livejournal.com 2009-05-06 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
"What can I say? When they don't run, it makes my job easier." She rolled her eyes a little, irritated that he had put the fucking hat on her. Domino glared right at him, making how she felt about it pretty clear. Still, she didn't punch him or anything. That was something.

She let a small smile slide just because. Dom couldn't wait to get her hands on some alcohol, so if Cable was going to be an idiot, she'd have to put up with it.

"And where did you get this accessory?"

He didn't turn to acknowledge Cable's arrival. He was preparing food for him and let him be here without ripping his face off, and that was welcome enough.

And if his chopping became a little more pronounced, he was sure it was a coincidence.

"Food'll be ready pretty quick," He shouted back to no one in particular. "Might wanna stick close. Maybe five, ten minutes to grill, right Sam?"

[identity profile] holycablechrist.livejournal.com 2009-05-06 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
"Costume shop," Cable chuckled. She was mad. At him. There was going to be a brawl after a few shots of tequila, but it was worth it to see the look on her face. The sombrero fit the expression. It was downright comical.

He stood up straight, sniffing the air: chicken fajitas and other delights. Cable glanced at the tequila and was ready to start getting out the shot glasses.

The Messiah for the Mutant Race as We Know It sent the thought to Domino. Get the shot glasses, dear.

[identity profile] luckpuns.livejournal.com 2009-05-06 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
She grumbled a little and ripped the hat off her head. She threw it at him before storming off to grab some glasses. The last time she was seriously drunk around another person, she ended up shooting Shatterstar. Maybe Cable would get just as lucky.

"Here they are." She scoffed, picking some up in her hands. "Want me to throw one at you?"

[identity profile] rictory.livejournal.com 2009-05-06 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Why did Rictor have the oddest urge to shout back at them not to toss the shotglasses? Why the hell did HE care if they broke them or not? They wern't his, and he was hardly the X-Force's den mother. If anyone was, actually, it would've been Domino.

Or Sam.

Instead he rolled his eye and started to dump the freshly diced pico de gallo into a larger bowl. For some reason when he'd envisioned the tomatoes and onions as Cable's head the dicing had gone faster.

"Want me to go ahead and plate up what you got done, Sam?"

[identity profile] holycablechrist.livejournal.com 2009-05-06 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
Cable caught the sombrero and watched Domino's ass gather the shot glasses for their late night partying. He had to remember to put shields around the place, so no one would overhear their drunken laughter or shouting or explosions. X-Force had gone long enough undetected with half this place in shambles. It won't be long until a patrolling super-hero finds their hide out if they don't take extra precaution.

There were defenses, but Cable also liked being careful just in case.

"I can catch it." If not by his hands, then TK would do the trick and just in time for dinner to be ready.

[identity profile] luckpuns.livejournal.com 2009-05-06 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course you could." She muttered. She'd just have to wait until he drank a little before she could actually catch him off guard. Whatever, she could wait for that. Instead, she walked over and placed one of the glasses into his hand. Her expression didn't change, but it was obvious she wasn't as annoyed as she was letting on.

"You're in a mood." She commented, allowing a small smirk to slide.

[identity profile] rictory.livejournal.com 2009-05-06 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Rictor cast Sam a quick glance. He had a feeling he knew what was getting Sam down; same thing that was getting him down, same reason he suggested the party, in part. Both Tabby and Star were here, but knocked out for the next few days. It was better than them being dead or gone or going insane and killing people, but it was still a little depressing.

Especially with the frisky old couple in the other room.

He pointedly nudged Sam as he scooped the finished chicken strips onto plate, giving him a quick nod.

"We'll make Star and Tabby cook for us when they wake up. Punishment for going crazy on us."

[identity profile] holycablechrist.livejournal.com 2009-05-08 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
"It's Cinco de Mayo," he commented. Cable lifted the empty shot glass in toast. It would have been more effective with strong liquor in his hand. "What's not to celebrate?"

Layla is missing. Shatterstar and Tabitha are in induced comas. We come from different time lines and worlds and walks of life. We're trying to function as one unit, but I'm afraid we're going to fall apart eventually.

The usual.

[identity profile] luckpuns.livejournal.com 2009-05-08 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
There went the last shred of optimism in the room. Whatever. The thought was kind of dull in her head, but she still heard it. Deciding not to give him a hard time, she decided to ignore it. If Cable wanted to secretly mope about all that, she'd let it go. For now.

"Yeah, too bad Rictor didn't invite your little secretary." She added in, a little amused that Ric had pulled that in the first place. "Coulda been interesting."

[identity profile] rictory.livejournal.com 2009-05-10 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
Rictor actually managed something like a grin. "Yeah, I seem to remember a few scorched kitchens in the past. Star can cook, then. Tabby can do cleanup. We can get fat on the produce, huh?"

He joked, but he knew Star probably WOULD actually feel bad when he woke up. He was weird like that. He'd probably feel guilty for having to be knocked out in the first place, and whine about being weak or something, and then feel bad for being out so long and being useless.

He'd take care of it when Star woke up. He'd know the second he did.

[identity profile] holycablechrist.livejournal.com 2009-05-10 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"You could be nicer to him." That was a long shot. Cable knew everyone was wary of new members even if they are handling menial tasks on the team. Cable was even part of that group, but he needed organization and some semblance of normal since Irene was no longer by his side to take care of everything--the nitty gritty of everyday life. Yuuto was barely around to bother them any ways.

Also, if the food took any longer, he was going to start eating the comatose bodies in the next room.

[identity profile] luckpuns.livejournal.com 2009-05-10 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm nice enough." She didn't mean to be that hostile towards the guy, but it always ended up happening. That and the wonderful bundle of trust issues she had. Well, that they all had. Yeah, okay, Nate. Keep hoping for something better.

She tilted her head a little. "It'll be done in a minute, Cable."

[identity profile] rictory.livejournal.com 2009-05-13 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, we'd better," He muttered, eying the next room. "Before they start eating the comatose bodies in the next room, yeah?"

He went for the bowls of various condiments he'd been preparing-- shredded lettuce, avocado, diced tomatoes, cheese. Things even he couldn't screw up, carrying them into the next room with Sam trailing behind.

"Food's ready," He said stiffly, still not entirely comfortable with Cable there.

[identity profile] holycablechrist.livejournal.com 2009-05-14 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
No one understood Cable's sense of humor. It must be a future thing.

Food. When Sam said dinner was ready, Cable forgot about all the troubles in the world and focused solely on food. It was ethnic night too which was always a treat. There was only so much wholesome American cuisine he could take.

"Finally," he said, taking a seat at their rickety old table. He telekinetically filled up his plate with everything he could and floated it to the table, plopped right down in front of him.

[identity profile] luckpuns.livejournal.com 2009-05-14 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Cable always got so excited when it came to food, Domino had noticed. Of course that wasn't any different than it had been years ago. She wondered briefly what he'd even do if she randomly made him a sandwich one day. Act like a kid in a toy store, probably.

Hnn.

She sat next to Nathan at the table, being a lot slower at taking her food than he could ever be. Though she was more inclined to take a bottle of alcohol and just disappear into her room, she was going to actually stick around.

Could be interesting.

[identity profile] rictory.livejournal.com 2009-05-16 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
He couldn't help the scowl that instantly came to his face when Cable helped him out. The purpose of this hadn't been to cheer him up so much as the team, though Rictor guessed that for tonight it couldn't be helped. Domino pretty much showed up because he said Cable could, and she actually seemed to be sticking around. It'd be good for them all to be in a decent mood for once, despite the current goings-on.

And good to distract himself for awhile.

Rictor heaped up his own plate, unable to resist commenting to Cable. "You have enough food on your plate? I think I saw some room at the corners still."
