Remember how I found you there
WHO: Catwoman, Delirium, & Lucifer
WHERE: Somewhere. In the City.
WHEN: Afternoon of March 30th, prior to the aquarium thing
WARNINGS: Pie
FORMAT: quickpara
After the whole mess at the ball the previous night, Selina needed to get out for a while. Go for a walk. Be a normal person in a normal place.
Hopefully not run into Godzilla.
It was a decent day out. Cool and windy, but you could feel the impending spring. Or at least Selina could, used to seasonal flavors of cities as she was.
She had no particular destination in mind, simply wandering the streets she'd come to know in the past five months at whim. She kept a sharp eye on her surroundings -- she didn't know how not to at this point -- but not seeking. Simply observing.
Street kids were one of the city elements that Selina always noticed. She'd been one herself in another life. But the thin frame and brilliant red hair of one girl she passed brought her to a halt. At first she thought it was Holly, younger and still lost. But the resemblance was only superficial.
Still. There was something about her.
Selina paused. "Are you all right?" she asked the girl, not entirely sure why.

So she had curled up in the doorway of some building and merely sat, letting her edges fade slowly until she could feel herself slipping and then-
Delirium turned the full force of her gaze on the woman. "What?"
no subject
But there was something strange there in her gaze.
Selina blinked, decided to ignore it.
"Are you all right?" she repeated. "You look a little pale." The understatement of the year.
no subject
"Um..." she began, then quieted a little. Delirium knew the woman (she knew lots of people, not as many as her sister, but she still knew lots of people), but the name didn't come readily. She should ask, but the words changed direction half way through and instead came out as "I got misplaced."
no subject
"There are a lot of us who had been brought here. Is there anyone you know in the city?" Not like Selina needed yet another kid to keep an eye on. But just walking away wasn't in her nature. Not anymore.
no subject
"My family isn't here," she said, "And I can't find the right way to get back home. But Lucifer is here. And Tank Girl knows who I am too. There were others who knew who I was but some of them said they didn't know."
no subject
"Are you hungry?" she asked the girl. When in doubt, feed them.

Hopefully, this one wouldn't turn out to be somebody's clone.

"What kind of pies?" she asked, taking the lady's hand and standing up on spindly legs, "Are they the kind with rats in them? Those don't taste very good, but the ones with the little baby berries in them are very very good."
cutest icon ever
"No rats. Pretty sure they have strawberry, though. A bunch of other ones too." She led the redhead down the street, hoping her lack of shoes (another thing she had in common with River) wouldn't be a problem. "I'm Selina."
It kinda is. :B
She thought for a moment, before asking, "Do you think Tank Girl will know how to grow up to be a good kangaroo?"

The diner in question was one she'd been to a few times. Not a favorite spot, but certainly better than some of the dumps she'd tried. The waitress behind the counter looked like she was about to say something about no shoes and no service. Selina silenced her with a sharp green glare.
She handed the girl a menu, taking seat on a worn stool. "Looks like they do have cherry," she murmured, glancing at the display case.
no subject
"Selina, have you ever been on an aeroplane?" she asked, settling down long enough to draw patterns on the top of the counter with the tip of her finger. If she stared enough she could see swirls and dips and dives.
no subject
"Airplanes? Yeah, plenty of times." Selina wondered if maybe they had another case of time displacement. "You?" Belatedly, she realized another question she'd forgot to ask. "Sorry, I didn't get your name."
Delirium's thought process defies short para... ><;
"Uh-huh. I've been on them lots of times," she began, trying to remember that there was a point to what she was saying, "I like them because when you go way up in the clouds everything looks so magical and special and the clouds look so pretty like a magical place where everything is okay and sometimes I just want to go walking through them so I can be in that place..." A pause. She was getting off track, what was the track again? "But I've been in the clouds and all it is is wet and could and empty... But aeroplanes are nice because they're in-between places..."
Oh there it was, the point. "This place is an in-between place too," Delirium finished, pleased she had been able to make the point she was searching for. She hadn't even noticed Selina had asked for her name.
Heh XD

She dug into the pie like a 5 year old on a mission and was soon licking the sticky cherry filling off of her fingers.

She snagged a stack of napkins from the dented metal holder and laid them next to the spoon. Just in case.
no subject
"I don't know," Delirium said, frowning and beginning to turn in on herself, "Which is bad, I should know, I should know, even though I'm not Destiny in his garden with his big book. I know things that people don't think I know, but just because I can't say them doesn't mean I don't know them. But I can't find any of the right roads or the right places to look and I can't find my realm from here..."

"I know lots of things!" she said, suddenly brightening again, "The name for the jelly in people's eye is called Vitreous Humor and how to call up little glowy worms and write things on walls so that I won't forget words!" Delirium turned to Selena going absolutely still and her blue-green gaze intense, "I know the paths outside of Destiny's garden."

Blinking, she shook her head a little. What the hell was that? She was probably just losing her mind again.
"Do you want anything else?" she asked quietly, staring into her coffee cup.

If she looked closely at her big toe on her right foot, she could see that it was starting to squirm a little, like a salmon fry hatching from it's egg.

She crossed her legs and rested her hands on her lap. "I'll wait with you if you want." Hell if she knew what was even going on at this point, but she really didn't want to leave the odd little girl by herself.
no subject
Delirium smiled widely at Selina, "That would be nice! I can show you my fishies!" By now her entire right foot had turned into a mass of shimmering fish, slowly breaking away and swimming about the legs of the stool and dodging the movement of Delirium still kicking her legs.
no subject
"Do you... usually turn into fish?" she asked blandly, eyes riveted to the creatures swimming through the air.
ooc | I'd say Lucifer can come in pretty much any time now? XD
no subject
[ooc: I'd say so.]
no subject
"Delirium," he called out as he stepped from the portal he had made and onto the street, the sound of his voice much like static in the air, crackling at its edges. "I suggest you stop that before someone else takes notice."
no subject
Still, old habits. Selina glanced away from the blond stranger with the hair-raising voice to the girl -- Delirium, apparently. "Are you going to be okay?" she asked, surprised at how uncertain her own voice sounded.
no subject
A puzzled look went to Selian. "Of course. Unless I have a bad day or I get lost, but usually I can find my way back, so it will all be all right."
no subject
"No, I do not."
He motioned over to the glowing, iridescent door.
"Come along now, Delirium."
no subject
Well, two could play that game. Selina's eyes shifted away from the rude blond man to Delirium. "Let me know if you need anything, okay?"
no subject
She hopped down off of her stool, dancing a bit towards the glowing doorway. "Do you ever feel like Dorothy in that one movie?"
Pfft skipping Ian becaus he's on hiatus and Lucifer's rude
The question, though, snapped things back into focus. "Not really a dog person. And I don't think clicking my heels will do a hell of a lot." She managed her own smile. "But yeah, I know what you mean. And not just because the Scarecrow's around."
OH SNAP! He is a bit, isn't he?
